Fantastic! Was great to see young and old walking through the village to and from the game and enjoying a well-contested spectacle. Whatever the level, you cannot beat being around a pitch under the lights. I'm getting way too saccharine in my old age.
I feel very nostalgic when you paint such a brilliant picture. Brings back memories from sixty or seventy years ago.
My barber friend in Prestwood, Antonio (aka Andor) was quite a star for Penn & Tyler’s Green a few years ago. At least that’s the impression I got. He also knew GA quite well and offered his services at one stage when we had a shortage of central defenders. Or was it midfielders ?
While I would be tempted to watch Deportivo Galicia (a club that has been playing for over 50 years apparently), for those looking to venture further afield, there ae FA Cup games at Aylesbury Vale, Bracknell and Thame. Only 11 more rounds to win before reaching Wembley.
@heisenberg Buy the Non-League Paper on a Sunday (£2.50) from any newsagents. It has a full fixture list but it's also worth checking the individual league websites to ensure there haven't been any last minute changes or re-arrangements.
As has been mentioned before, https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk (and the app version) is very good for lower leagues, and has all the FA Vase/Trophy/Cup matches. Also good for finding out attendances, which are not easy to find.
Highlights of Amersham's 3-3 draw in the FA Cup at Athletic Newham yesterday. The Magpies held a 3-1 lead at half-time, Jake Tabor on the scoresheet, his 11th in 8 games this season. The replay date has not been announced yet, presumably on Tuesday.
Some fruity language, a dreadful pitch and a thrilling comeback. The magic of the cup! Amersham will be disappointed to let their lead slip but all down to Spratleys Meadow for the Replay…
Escape from Sky Monday Night Football at Vauxhall Road! What on earth possessed Sky TV to make the Monday Night Football the match between Salford City & MK Dons?
The best solution is the National League South match between Hemel Hempstead Town & Welling United (7.45).
Former Wanderers Dave Winfield & Anthony Grant both in the starting line-up for Welling United at Hemel Hempstead Town in the National League South this evening.
Winfield was poor tonight & Anthony Grant didn't stamp any authority on the game as Hemel beat Welling 4-2 to go top of National League South. On Saturday the top two face off as Slough entertain Hemel at Arbour Park.
In a very entertaining match Hemel took the lead in the 8th minute through Alfie Cerulli with a wonderful shot into the top corner. Despite several chances for Welling the score remained the same at half-time.
Shortly after the break Welling equalised & were pressing to take the lead but 2 breakaway goals by Ricardo German put Hemel in control. The home side scored a 4th towards the end & Welling pulled one back but the majority of the 833 crowd went home happy with Hemel top of the league.
Didn't he get booked close to every game he played for us or something. Was very good for us otherwise I seem to remember but didn't really stand out elsewhere.
I seem to remember he was the most fouled player in the division when here. Yes, he was very good for us and I'm surprised he has spent his career in the lower division.

He clearly wasn't a cut above what we had available at the time!
How on earth would GA know a barber?
Does anyone have any local games to recommend this Saturday?
Here's a few...

Thanks for the listings. Do you use a particular site to find games?

That site is a goldmine, thanks @Steve_Peart
Without Football Web Pages we'd never know the average attendance of Rising Ballers Kensington is 15 (FIFTEEN?!). Incredible.
When did you manage Penn @Blue_since_1990
It’s got to be 38-40 years ago. We won the Wycombe Senior cup.
The final was at Loakes Park and we beat Rivets Sports.

Thanks for sharing these. Amazing that this is where Kone called home just a year ago!
Yes, it does underline just how far he has come, so quickly. The replay is on Tuesday at 7:30, I wonder if he will be there.

Watching those highlights, I can see a version of Scott McGleish in Jake Tabor
On Tuesday 3rd September there's a Bucks derby in Combined Counties Division One. Holmer Green are at home to Chalfont St Peter (7.45 k.o.).

They were also playing for Welling when they were beaten 3-1 by Chesham United on Saturday.
After more than a tad of surprise and a bit of frantic googling, memo to self - Anthony not Gavin. Gavin not Anthony.
Oops!!
I wonder why Anthony Grant never quite had the career a lot of us thought he would.
