I thought Bakinson was really poor against Wrexham. Against Brum yesterday I thought he looked good. Played one pass in particular (to Sadlier I think- possibly when he then scuffed it) that it looked like no-one else saw. Looks like a creative CM that we've been lacking.
Difference between criticism and writing them off. Both the players deserve criticism or is there a period where regardless of performance we have to clap politely and say well done ?
He's waiting for the expert data analysis that shows scoring four and conceeding six in our first two games means we need a better defence. He'll then allow a couple of defenders in on loan until Christmas. If we're still in trouble at the start of next year he'll let us buy somebody and/or sack everybody. Probably.
These comments look a notch up from simple criticism : ‘Harvie had a shocker today and havent seen anything from him yet to suggest he's up to standard….Guy looks like a liability so far. Would play both Leahy or Hartridge ahead of him at left back.’ You say that players ‘deserve’ criticism but the also deserve more patience than being dropped after two difficult league games.
Barkinson was the last of a few at fault for their third goal, back on his heels lost his man - who scored. He’s played enough games at this level not to loose concentration like that. Against a top side like City they will and did punish you.
I’m sure he’s nice. But being culpable for 3 goals in six mainly due to not being tight enough to his man might not get him the plaudits you feel he deserves. The criticism I have read and I don’t read all posts have been fair and honest and football related.
I don’t know the guy but some players know they are struggling and need a break so dropping him would be the right thing. Some players would be crushed by being dropped. But if opposing teams flag that our left back is generous in space we are gonna concede the same goals over and over.
Quite frankly, the ‘ criticism’ of Harvie has been justified based on performance and certainly not vindictive or out of order as your post seems to suggest. Fans are entitled to their opinion but equally I’m sure they want him to succeed.
Based on his performances at left back so far (including Northampton game) in my opinion I think he's looked average at absolute best and has been a liability. That's just my take on it. Time will tell.
I really don't get taking umbrage at a football opinion (whether positive or negative) on a football forum. We are literally subjectively commenting on the games as they unfold and this might involve applauding good performances and pointing out bad performances. It's a discussion forum! The alternative is making up an imaginary game where the Care Bears XI won 10-0 and nothing bad ever happens. I am sure every poster on here is aware that our opinions will have the same effect on actual team strategy and selection that they have on the rising of the sun. Positivity policing (really just a weird form of posturing) is far more wearying than any honest opinion, good or bad.
It's also worth bearing something else in mind - if a player plays poorly but is untouchable, is that "positive" for the poor chap behind him who can't get a start no matter how bad the lad ahead of him is playing?
Excellent post. Football forums are all about individuals expressing their opinions good or bad. We do know @glasshalffull takes his unofficial role as spokesperson for the club on this forum and others to defend any negative comments ( in his view) about the club or players ,very seriously.
Reading the comments has been interesting to say the least. We are only 2 games into the league. The difference between us and Birmingham on Saturday was 15 million quid. Come on guys.
And that difference was reflected in the passing accuracy stats - 60% for us, 84% for Birmingham.
This meant that we were always struggling to keep possession for any length of time, but still managed to score two good goals and make them work for the points.
Also worth pointing out, in the interests of balance, that Harvie's clearance, rapid run up field and well weighted pass to Sadlier was the foundation for Vokes' goal.
My response was to this post and others. Providing we don’t resort to bad language or personal insults I really don’t see the problem in holding alternative opinions.

I could see Pattenden coming on for GMac after 70ish minutes. Looks at his best in the opposition half
He’s got a really decent cross. And you know who loves getting on the end of really decent crosses?
Not Count Dracula

Loose concentration sounds like a contradiction in terms!!
You've got to keep your spellerations accurate with @Micra sniffing around.

Anthony Stewart is still without a club.
Won't happen
Relegating a new signing to 3rd choice in his specialist position after just 2 league games (as suggested by one poster) just doesn’t make sense.
So you think that saying someone is a liability and suggesting that he may not be up to standard after just two games is justified? I don’t.
It’s all about opinions and not everybody shares yours.

I agree that football is all about opinions-you stated yours and I stated mine which happened to be different. That’s why we have the Gasroom.

The rumours thread appears to have been hijacked by the Birmingham post-match analysis. This ain’t the Straits of Hormuz folks, wind it in.
