I didn’t realise he only played about 30 games a season while he was at Burnley. Anyway, I’m happy to bury the hatchet as long as he doesn’t start at Wrexham as some wag (not a player’s partner) suggested.
I was very positive yesterday in acknowledging what a nice chap he is and how he will no doubt be involved in mentoring and coaching.
I still think we'll see a decent amount of Vokes when the opposition style demands it. All of the remaining striker list consists of players who can play wide, so I think we'll see a lot of rotation and experimentation between Udoh, Kone, Lubala, Hanlan together with Sadlier and GMac.
Out of those initial four, Kone is the one I would prefer to play centrally the most, owing to his nose for goal. I do feel deep down (though uneducated as far as Udoh) that if those four all played parallel universe seasons at the 9 as first choice, Kone would already score more than the others. I have Udoh slightly outscoring him in my mind currently just because I think he will play a little more than Kone.
Whether this season or next, I do expect Kone to make a noticeable jump - enough to where the conversation will shift to the time-honoured "how are we going to hold on to him?"
I'm expecting to see evidence of Kone bulking up more too. A comment was made, I think by GMac, about it was something that the club were trying to achieve by getting him a better diet, as a professional athlete, and full time training.
It's a shame the games have been BCD so far so we can't really comment on how the players have performed so far. It would be nice to see how the new faces are doing.
I think the pic might be old - it was a match behind closed doors at the Portsmouth training ground - that photo looks like it's in front of a crowd in a stadium. But I might be wrong, looks like we were wearing the same green and white shirt today.
From a reliable source the I have been told the scorer was Nat Lofthouse. Released from Bolton Wanderers following contract termination at the end of last season.
Philips played quite a lot at RWB. Not sure where he’s played recently. Interesting how the data is driving this one. The nostalgia metric must be a part as must the distance from Aylesbury i guess
I decided to leave it to see how many jokers would comment. @mooneyman is a regular but I wasn’t expecting him to be pipped by @StrongestTeam who tends to stock to the serious stiff.
Afternoon all! The live feed won't be in the match centre tonight, it will be on the WanderersTV live page https://www.wwfc.com/live or in the app. (Commentary from 5 minutes before KO)

Good to see Trialist getting a goal
Maybe it's just my wishful thinking,or the camera angle, but Kone really does seem to have bulked up over the summer.

Anyone know who the trialist was who got a goal?

Not sure when the last time was we signed a striker with over 250 career league goals.
Kim Casey would be my guess
You’ll be getting a few knickers in a twist amongst any younger elements on the Gasroom with that comment !! 🤣🤣
A former player apparently https://x.com/DanClarkPR/status/1817556826616963488
On closer inspection, I think this is a wind-up

Free ice cream from Beechdean whilst sticks last on Tuesday evening. With the temperature in the mid twenties, they’ll be very welcome.
Will be a right mess if the sticks don't last.
Can always cornets!

£5 to watch the game tomorrow night on WTV. Not bad!
Chesham United are also hosting Watford tomorrow night, presumably their development squad.
I think all friendlies should be advertised with photos of both teams having a group hug.
Pre-season action, free ice cream... and now free massages!
The @Massage_Company
in High Wycombe offer fans the chance to relax and unwind with their complimentary chair massages in the car park starting at 5.15pm tonight.
Kone scoring the winner in the 90th minute is my idea of a happy ending.
How many of our team tonight is going to be called "Trialist"?

@ProducerLuke_ The live page has the kick off down as both 18:30 and 19:30
That'll be for all those watching in France.
To those at the ground already - any sightings of potential new signings? ;)
