ACLs are often a 9 month recovery at best - Harlan did his in November 2023, so I think September might see Hanlan training and then, as Floyd says, perhaps some BSM minutes in October before league games in November time.
Vokes has missed pre-season for the last two years and then taken a long while to get up to speed / not quite getting there at all* in some people's eyes. Would be odd to chose now as a rest time but still very early.
There is absolutely no chance that Sam Vokes will have been given an extended break with his family after already having the previous two months off. He’s either injured or off to another club.
I really have to congratulate the club on agreeing to the charity game today. I don't know much about Cold-sheshter (I assume they are from way down the pyramid), or whether they won a competition to play us or something, but it speaks volumes that we would encourage grass roots football like this.
Why do you think it would be awful if Sam Vokes is currently unfit? I acknowledge that I’m not his biggest fan when it comes to our striking options but he is one of a diminishing number of senior players at the club and, as a mature, respected member of the squad, his value as a coach and mentor to younger players is probably highly rated.
Because it would be the second, or maybe even the third pre season in a row that he's been hurt, and because he's admitted how long it takes him to get up to speed without a pre season. And because he's a human being and (if he is injured) it must be incredibly dispiriting.
I really don’t understand the negativity surrounding Sam Vokes. He might not be the player he was a few years ago when he was scoring and assisting goals for Burnley in the PL and for Wales in the European championships, but he’s still a class act who has a major role to play in our season. Players like him don’t come along very often at League One level.
I too am hoping to see a fit and firing Hanlan return. Fingers crossed he can get near his season best for us, which was * checks notes * 6 goals in 36 games.
I love Sam Vokes and the post wasn’t meant as a negative. But I feel we now have three or four players ahead of him in the pecking order … especially with the way Bloody miles wants to play. Udoh, Kone, Hanlan and Lubala are surely the options in that order for the No.9 role with Vokes behind them. It is certainly good to see there are so many options.

Again, you don’t want to read too much into these things, but he did appear in the very first video the club put out.
You can’t draw any firm conclusions. Every player has their own pre season fitness plan I’m sure.
55: Richard KONE scores a wonderful goal, bursting into the box and displaying exquisite footwork before lifting into the net.
1-2 this hour, 2-2 overall.
The Player!
FT: Wycombe 2-2 Colchester.
Unless my eyes deceive me Jack Young didn’t play.

Both goals now available on the club’s Twitter.
Not much defending going on for Kone’s goal, but a lovely finish nonetheless.
Good link up between Bez and Bakinson for the first, Udoh celebrated like a true striker even tho it was clearly an OG!
He was in the 13 man squad for the 2nd half
@drcongo told me that Vokes has had the last 11 months off

Agreed 👍 I can't for a second see vokes being a first choice starter this season

A fit Sam Vokes absolutely starts at Wrexham.
Not anymore does he … and I’m his biggest fan.
Fourth or fifth choice centre forward for me now.
The prospect of Udoh, Kobe, Bez, GMac and hopefully a fully restored Brandan Hanlan is much more exciting.

Sam Vokes scored 56 goals in seven seasons at Burnley, didn’t he ?
Vokes averaged 1 goal every 4 league games for Burnley and for Wycombe, roughly the same as Akinfenwa’s average for Wycombe.
Clearly the level goals are scored at has to be factored in. 20 & 16 in the championship and 12 in the Premier league are a good few seasons.
Or even his 18 at this level a few season back.
I'm sure we'd all be delighted to see one of our current cast match that.
Most fans love him Alan

Bloody?
Nothing like a good autocorrect. He did used to run bloody miles.
Or his feet were bleeding after every game?
Bloody Miles blue army!
Sometimes nicknames are born in the most unforeseen circumstances.
Like Bloody Mary who was addicted to tying people to burning stakes!
