As someone who literally in the last few minutes ordered a window mounted bird feeder/viewer (after about three weeks prevarication) I’m thrilled to bits that it’s due to arrive tomorrow morning. Instant gratification. But, if the birds don’t flock to see us tomorrow afternoon, same old same old !
Hate to be the bearer of bad news @micra but I have two of those things and neither has been visited by a single bird in the two years they've been up. One of them I even hung a traditional feeder near by so try to tempt them over, I get loads of birds on that one and none on the window one.
I have hung two feeders on trees close to home - one seeds one fat. Lovely finches and tits have been coming pretty much in a convoy.
However now found by a jay - lovely bird but big appetite and worse by a squirrel which hangs upside down on the seed one and chews open the feeder before eating some and storing the rest. Cant think of a way to stop him so have had to stop.
Something possibly the jay is now bringing its mates and demolishing all the fat balls I leave out - haven't caught them yet but may well have to stop that one too.
Bearing in mind that absolute numpty Greg Hands is still walking around with the 'there's no money left' note (written over 14 years ago) and we still hear tories banging on about 'Labour's deficit' (similar vintage), I think they'll be entitled to blame the tories for a lot of the problems in their possible first term.
A plaintive cry. Surely the squirrels can’t climb up patio door glass panes six foot off the ground? And the opening would be too small for anything much bigger than a sparrow.
We had to get rid of our bird feeders, had 2 in the back garden. Mrs Holmer looked out one night and saw 2 rats hanging from them.... that was the end of them ! Never to be seen since.
1) Education (not just academic, in fact particularly practical skills for specific careers and trades).
Train more builders/ plumbers/ sparkies/ doctors/ nurses/ lawyers and we don't need to import them.
2) Cost of living - particularly energy. Invest in renewable sources and battery storage. Nuclear an option as well. Also helps national security if we're not reliant on importing energy.
Change the tax system to be far higher for capital gains. Try to lower tax on earnings. Actually collect all the tax we should get from businesses.
3) Lack of housing- simply build more, NIMBY ism must be ignored in many scenarios.
Tax multiple home owners a prohibitive amount, housing shouldn't be an easy lucrative primary source of income when it's in shortage. Especially tax foreign owned unoccupied housing.
4) Trade with the EU/ issues from Brexit. If we don't rejoin we need to sort out ridiculous impasses we're now experiencing with new bilateral agreements.
5) NHS -strongly linked to 1) , but also the infrastructure needs sorting in many places- especially HW
6) Public transport- it's shit and trains cost a fortune. Forces people to drive.

Unfortunately, the only birds flocking to your window will be those pesky pigeons.
Bloody Tories, in the next parliament there will be hummingbirds fighting with eagles to feed from your table.
Also if I have to hear the phrases 'fully costed' or 'let me be clear' after July 4th I will f'ing scream

"lovely tits" and "fat balls". Context really is everything!

What do you consider to be the top six problems?
In no particular order:
Cost of living
Trade with EU
National productivity
Stagnant economy
NHS
Public Utilities

Billy Knot(t)
Crowan Libird (double points!)
Blimey. Tough question. Off the top of my head
1) the ageing population and consequent healthcare, social care and inefficient use of housing
2) climate (including other countries response or lack of)
3) productivity
4) wealth inequality
5) mismatch between spending need and funds available ( not helped by grossly inefficient public services
6) the internet and the hatred , division and lies it facilitates
7) Oxford United being allowed in the Championship.
much I have forgotten too I suspect.
