Captain Sido Jombati and Dan Fitchett on the winning team for Salisbury, as they beat AFC Totton 4-3 on penalties, 2-2 full-time, in the Southern Premier South play-off final. 2089 watched at Totton.
Good to see hair back on Sido’s head - post above - after the shock of seeing him hairless in a picture posted by Dave Gardner on Friends of Wycombe Wanderers FB.
Continuing the theme. Club Captain Stephen McGinn lifts the League One winners trophy for Falkirk. They were unbeaten in the league all season, after snatching a 85' penalty equaliser against Alloa on Saturday. McGinn, 35, will be leaving Falkirk after two years there.
Nothing sad about that. I think it’s interesting to put a face (or complete figure, for that matter) to any respected regular contributor to the Gasroom. I’m afraid you’d have to go to Facebook to see my physog. I think @Malone sussed me out on there a couple of years ago. But he hides his own light under a bushel.
Wonder how long it’ll be before people start saying we should sign him up. Saying that, the Akinde we had, up top with Kone, would probably be a joy to watch.
I’ve just reminded myself of that Brentford game…why did Stech start ahead of Young. I remember a number of our fans believed that Young should have been first choice ahead of Shearer (myself included) and when Shearer was ruled out for the season, Young should have been given a chance.
From memory, he DID eventually get a chance after Stech himself picked up an injury.
Whoops, wrong venue. It was the away leg at Doncaster. But how wonderful to see hero Stryjek mobbed after saving a second penalty to put Crewe through (against all the odds) to a Wembley Final. We might see him at Adams Park again next season after all.
To be fair, I know he's a lovely bloke and would gladly stop for a chat, but I tend to let them get on with their day unless I've got something worthwhile to say! I think they've earned the right to do that haha.
Indeed. It could be terribly irritating for them, the number of people who presume to know them well enough to just go up and say "Hello Keith", rather than being more polite and saying "Mr Ryan".
I'm surprised I clocked him - I'm usually completely oblivious and don't realise until hours later... A mate and I once spent a whole gig thinking we were stood near a bloke who 'looked like Jarvis Cocker'.
Did a double take when seeing him outside a cafe in Flackwell before. Know he's local but you just don't expect to see players you watched for years day to day do you.

He has been released, so I think here is fine. He has also landed three or four goals kicks perfectly on his attacker's head.
There was a long pass he executed shortly after my post that was fantastic, although sadly the attacker was no Vokes and it ended up coming back.
Unfortunately he has conceded now too, though not much he could do about a point blank shot like that.

Ed. Scott Rendell on the losing side.
And they win on pens so he returns to the EFL
If anyone finds a photo of Sido lifting the trophy don’t be too shy to share. Would love to see it.
Closest I can find.
Two ex-players for the price of one. That’ll do for me.
Thanks Steve.
I still miss Sido.
@drcongo ”oh Sido Jombati, oh Sido Jombati”
Is that your good self, @perfidious_albion ?

Thought i was hallucinating on a run near the Rye a couple of years ago, when I spotted Sido coming out of a flat.
Actually was delighted it was him and managed a couple of pleasantries with him.
Sadly yes!

I've always imagined you as a Charlie Drake lookalike. I'm probably wide of the mark, and if so, don't take it as an insult!
I’ve never been so insulted in all my life!
My FB picture may have been taken nearly four years ago but it’s still reasonably accurate. Vocally, I’m different class.
Oh, and I was five foot eleven and seven eighths until I turned seventy.
Bloody cheek !🙁
Yes a top bloke indeed. Good luck Richard.
John Akindi has been released by Colchester,
Never quite lived up to the promise he showed at Wycombe.

Stech and Young? Remind me, please, who they were. Yes, I’m probably going !
Great scenes at Gresty Road.

Just passed Keith Ryan at HW station. As usual with players, I couldn't think of a conversation starter 🤦♂️
