I wouldn't want any of our players doing that. I didn't like it when O'Nien applauded the terrace for not throwing the ball back, or when he'd dive to win free kicks either.
Completely failing to see the comparison here. O'Nien did a cheat that may well have stopped them conceding, Max did a cheat that led to us conceding and losing the game, and everything I posted about it at the time I absolutely stand by, as I suspect most of the others who went "absolutely mental".
The comparison is people writing all sorts of angry posts immediately after an incident.
I recall at least some posts about sacking him and suchlike. Probably from the same people who then can't understand why we shipped him off on loan and didn't play him.
Still not over that. One of the most stupid acts in a Wycombe shirt. At least o9 knew what he did had a positive outcome, Max just shot the team in the foot.
I’m somewhat tickled that someone was furious when they saw the tackle. Which was in the first half of a game. Had a half time tea. Sat through the second half. Waited 45 mins in the car park. Got home. Enjoyed Noel’s House Party. Wrote a letter. Dug out their BFP. Addressed an envelope. Bought a stamp. Waited til Monday to post it. And still felt strongly enough to stick it in the letter box.
Tjay scoring again last night in a 5-1 win against Mons Calpe. Mons broke the HGP rule requiring at least 4 players with local status on the field at all times though when 16 year old goalkeeper Michael Charvetto Parody got injured in the first 6 minutes of the match and had to be replaced by their Spanish reserve keeper, and didn't take off a non-local outfielder to balance the numbers (they then doubled down later in the game once they realised their mistake and took off all their remaining locals as they were already being battered anyway).
Another case of a good footballer in there but absolute asshole of a person. Respect the work he's done to help his national team Montserrat rise from whipping boys to respectable force in CONCACAF but my god he's insufferable.
Saw another clip of O Nien the other day, throwing his hand out into someone's face and handling the ball in the pen area. The ref missed it completely, but O Nien is walking away shaking his hand out with presumably the pain of it.
He probably has enough for a little highlights video of these weird shenanigans now.

I don't think they were ludicrous at all. I've had to work really hard to forget that night. I was so angry

Each to their own
Get him back. He could act as back up keeper so we could put another outfield player on the bench!
A good player who's always let himself down a bit with some of his behaviour on the pitch
Some people take football way too seriously. His shit-housery is not morally objectionable, unlike so many other actually odious footballers.
Some of it is pretty funny, but I think he used to take it a bit far - and seemed very smug about it.

What if O’nien was incorrectly sent off and Max was correctly given a foul? Would you share the same view then? Outcome bias.

People wanted O’Neil to sack Jason Cousins. This is our heritage.
It wasn't a foul.
I don’t like the handballs, the piggy backs etc - but what I mean is the reaction, not to the incident itself, but to his overall footballing ability.
Lyle Taylor has been released by Cambridge.

I think that was Saint and Greavsie. As there was no platform apart from a local pub or bar I don’t recall a groundswell wanting JC sacked.
A bit dramatic to still not be over it, don't you think?
People wrote to the Free Press didn’t they? I though MO’N addressed it in his programme notes…
People definitely wrote letters in. Can't remember if it was to the BFP or club directly though.

To be fair, at the time the angriest person in the stadium was Martin O'Neill
To be fair, when O'Neill went, somebody wrote to the BFP saying they thought it was a good thing. @HitAndHope maybe?
am I correct in remembering he only get a yellow for it? Second booking maybe?

You're TJ aren't you?
Yep. The whole incident is like a different sport.
Think it was about my 2nd or 3rd ever game and I was delighted at the fun of a red card as a kid.
Cousins does a sprinting 2 footed long jump. Luckily makes contact side on and the guy just brushes himself off and gets up with barely a word.
And Scotty is trying to talk the ref out of a second yellow. Ridiculous stuff.
Scotty’s on in-law duty. We’ve all been there.
nah it's just really easy to get info on the Gibraltar league these days
Perhaps it’s time for a separate TJ thread - for those that are interested?
