Just saw this on the Posh site...is anything in this explanation of the Covid season actually correct?
I never knew we were SO powerful in the EFL. Did we refuse to play Coventry?
As usual they gloss over the fact we still had to beat the highly superior Fleetwood twice and Oxford...
EFL Wanted to suspend the season fully. Some clubs didn't. Wycombe wanted to suspend season but still do the play-offs and got their way.
They were 7th at end of season with a game in hand over us in 6th, but because of that game in hand they had a better PPG. That game in hand was supposed to be played the following week (away to runaway leaders Coventry, they would have almost certainly have lost) but despite saying they wouldn't play that because of Covid, they were prepared to play of play-off match instead.
One of the clubs suggested a compromise of a 6 team play-off - but the whole EFL had to ratify it and nobody really cared enough aside us, Ipswich and Portsmouth
You could argue we'd have done the same, I think we probably would have, but that's by the by.
I was very angry about it at the time, but it happened, it's history. Wycombe got to the Championship but no bugger saw them as they were all behind closed doors, and they'll never make it there again - so it'll forever be a freak season nobody witnessed.
Agreed, their fans and directors were so welcoming last night and acted with such dignity despite the unlucky manner of their defeat. It’s the closest I have ever come for apologising for winning!
No, but people from EE, Bud, Coke, National Express, Walkers will all be offer tickets. Wouldn't be surprised if they give away more to other potential partners
I've had an email from the club, which says 'Wycombe Wanderers are going back to Wembley Stadium on Sunday 7th April - and you're coming too!'.
I thought that was very nice of them to invite me, and I presume this means I'll be travelling on the team coach, and sitting in the VIP area, helping to demolish a big pile of prawn sandwiches?
Matt Bloomfield’s phraseology (if that’s the right word for the spoken word) always seems a bit AI to me. “….we knew gritty and messy……” for example. But you can never be sure to what extent his words are misquoted.
Sadly I was Blue, you had to remind me didn’t you? 😉
Fortunately I’ve been there on the winning side to with last seasons thrashing of Plymouth one of the best, only soured by that thug Cosgroves totally unnecessary and vindictive foul on Eoin Toal a few minutes from the end which kept him out for the rest of the season.
Anyway, as I said whatever the score it’s a brilliant day out for everyone and if you win it’s just the icing on the cake. Hopefully you will. 👍🥳

And the date of the final is 7/4

Posh had their go in the Champ. They failed miserably.
We were actually down in 8th, but I think a single point covered 3rd-8th, with us having played a game less.
Either way, we proved we were the best of the non-auto teams by beating Fleetwood and Oxford, so ho hum.
Also, our PPG over the two league games this season is 2.0, whereas theirs is 0.5.

(this post made more sense before @bargepole edited his.)
This is a huge game obviously.
But surely the Bristol Motors cup isn't going to have 10,000 corporate hangers on!

You mean you didn’t feel like apologising to Swanny a few weeks back?

Slightly unfortunate wording in this morning’s BFP but most people will probably realise what Matt Butcher did.
Slightly odd description of the pitch by MB.
"A last minute Matt Butcher" sounds like it should be rhyming slang
So Butcher has earned his nickname ‘Last minute Matt’.
Certainly got us off the hook!

He only scores when the steaks are high.
He was cut above the other night. Didn't mince his words in the post-match interview either.
After that cameo performance it would be tough to give him the chop tomorrow.

Wouldn't put it past the BFP to have utterly bungled what he said.
Although saying how he's the "leader" seemed a slightly unusual thing to say too. Normally being a leader is about on pitch action.
