I was on the train until 85 minutes reading the depressing Gasroom stream and expecting a penalty shoot-out...walked home to find we'd won. Laughed like a drain. Butcher on for Scowen??? Masterstroke.😉
Can’t say I’ve seen it mentioned anywhere but way back when we started in this ‘competition’ the talk was always about ‘well if we do win a game at least we get £x, which has to be better than nothing.’
Presumably getting to Wembley means that the £x has increased significantly.
Anyone actually know what it is worth financially to the club?
Max showed his ability is full display last night. He is one of the league's most natural shot-stoppers and 100% committed to the cause. However, is distribution was poor when compared to the keeper at the other end.
Bear in mind, this will be a game where the FA will probably fill (at least!) an extra 10,000 people in with tickets to their "partners" and sponsors. Just observe the empty seats in the first 10 and last 10 minutes of each half as they will all be walking back to their hospitality and get drinks & food and probably not do anything when a goal has been scored!
Just wanted to pop on and say very well done on getting to Wembley and I wish you well in the final. As far as revenue is concerned we (Bolton) did really well financially out of it with up to about £500k net at the end of it. Granted we played Plymouth and had around 80k there which clearly you and Posh won’t have but apart from the cash it’s just such a great day out and the opportunity for your players to actually play there and for the club to win a trophy is something everyone will remember. Even if you lose, it can still be a fantastic day out and something you’ll always remember and I know, I’ve done both win and lose. So best of luck and hopefully you’ll thrash those posh buggers and have a great day out. too 😉
@FarmerCee Were you at the Freight Rover Trophy final in 1986? I went with a friend from uni... Tried to imagine what it would be like, full of Wycombe fans instead (closing eyes, listening to "Wanderers, Wanderers, Wanderers", that kind of thing...)... Didn't expect at the time that 5 years later it would actually happen.
They took around 21000 for the 2017 League One Playoff Final in May on a Saturday, not a Sunday and not in the school holidays. Millwall took 25000 and you had another 8000 corporate tickets in a crowd of 53000.
I suspect they would not have beaten that figure in April.

That they're very handsome men?
If not I best unthumb you.
Just kidding.
I was out this evening and only saw the last 10 mins, so I’d like to take credit for our progress to the final.
Well done Max in particular, some good saves.
I was out all evening and only switched on to the live stream at 89 minutes…and straight into the goal.
’Football…bloody hell’
You sir are a lucky charm.
I think we need as many 1.74 shirts printed and distributed for the Final!

Anyone fancy looking after the flag this time? I don't want to get killed 😂
YES! complete with a picture of a swan body and Alan Swann head!

So far we have won £110k - £20k group, £40k round of 16, £50k quarters.
Winners get another £100k, losers £50k
So £160k minimum, plus small amount of gate and concessions income
Not sure how the Wembley gate money gets divided. There will be some merch income as well.
Each club gets 45% of the gate.
https://www.efl.com/documents/efl-trophy-rules/
Which is why Peterborough fans said they wanted Bradford. Not just an easier team on paper but a bigger crowd.
45% at best of the profit not of the full gate. Hiring Wembley and all the related costs is not cheap.
Actually article 28 suggests there may be special rules for the final but then references a clause (article 47) which doesn't exist!
Yes. Net profit might not be much profit at all.
While 100k isn't to be sniffed at, it's a bit of a poxy pot for winning a cup that seemingly had about 73 rounds isn't it?!
By the way, I was quite surprised how low gates were for the two semis - 6k at Blackpool and 7k last night with a win reaching Wembley.
My guess would be around 30,000 at Wembley - not at all sure we won't have more there than Bradford would have given geographical proximity.

well over 30 I reckon. Posh will bring about that many on their own won't they?
If the town gets behind we could take at least 15 I think, maybe 20 if we really push it

Maybe that is what is keeping other clubs away and I don't mind that one bit. Fantastic keeper.

Speaking of all this 1.74 stuff, our aggregate score against Posh this season is 7-4. They can't get away from it!
I think Bradford would have taken absolutely loads, maybe even sold out their allocation. Big club, big town, glory starved.
You might be right but the attendance last night was over 10,000 below their average for league games.
But the semi is not a day out on the piss in London and a game at Wembley.
Lol!
Superb

I really like Bradford and their fans. I hope they get promoted.
POTD!
