1) I doubt very much that anyone cares about other posters' thumb counts. Or that they even look at them. I've just had a quick look at your stats and you have a posts/thumb down ratio of around 11%. Mine is 20% and if I can sleep easily at night then so can you.
2) How people present themselves on forums and who they are in real life are usually very different things. You aren't getting downvoted, 'Micra the forum poster' is getting downvoted, so don't take it personally. We are all here for our love of a small football team and the thumbs stuff is just a bit of fun on the side.
Only 20% posts/thumbs down ratio? You clearly aren't trying hard enough.
Mine is currently 287%. However, the posts/thumbs up ratio is 222%, which shows that not everyone on here is wrong and thick.
@micra , Some people who post on this forum know each other in real life some do not. For those we don't know, I imagine most of us try to form a mental picture of what that poster may be in real life. You, I see as an amiable old boy, calm, rational, gentle, not seeking confrontation, able to convey your opinions, one of life's good guys, arguably in our little forum community the "goodest" guy of them all. One day, hopefully not for many years, the forum will lose you. It will be much the worse for that day when it comes.
A football club can be part of an individuals identity and when life's challenges mean you cannot be part of it so much in real life, I know from my experience this forum and its predecessor can be a bit of a lifeline which can mean you take it a little more seriously than it perhaps deserves. Try not to, mate, from my experience.
In terms of the thumbs down, I think I remember maybe last summer some lighthearted joshing which triggered some downvoting of a post of yours in fun. I suspect some of those who follow the (to me weird) practice of clicking on those icons are perhaps carrying on the joke a little too long. One of the issues with online is that you can't read body language of those you are talking to and hence it is very easy to misread what you think is mutual joking without appreciating that the other party no longer gets the joke and is starting to get hurt. Hopefully that message has been learnt by many in your case.
There will be occasions of course when your view is out of kilter with the majority and if these infernal "thumbs" exist on the forum, then I suppose it is valid to use them. In those cases they are judging @micra opinion on that matter, not @micra the man.
And of course online can be a place where those of us unhappy with their lives can work out our inadequacies by bullying others from behind the safety of an anonymous keyboard. Our forum doesn't seem to have many of those but there are one or two. Honestly best to try understand them and empathasise that their lives have become so hard that this has become their rather sad coping mechanism.
You are a good guy, @micra . You are right to express your hurt as a result of this matter rather than trying to bury it deep or be forced to walk away. With respect if you are interpreting the downvoting as being critical of you and suggesting you are not welcome, I think you have misinterpreted the mood. I am sure most would agree you are a very important and very welcome part of our community
Strangely in my mind's eye @micra has always been a huge belligerent, snaggle toothed drunkard in pain from his lasered off 'Super Sammy Vokes' tattoo picking fights left right and centre. I may have to rethink...

@micra. Basically what @DevCabout the only person who commented on it and for a time (I think) it became a tradition for your posts to automatically receive downvotes. That pretty much stopped when it became apparent that you actually cared about the thumbs up/thumbs down facility, but it does appear that more recently there has been an increasing tendency for people to up/down vote posts by pretty much everyone for apparently random reasons, or at least reasons beyond the content of the post.
Your position on here as a respected, erudite and well-informed poster is assured and your regular contributions are one of the perpetual pleasures of coming on here.
@micra your posts are my favourite, closely followed by @LX1 which are often delightfully obscure - I still can't decide if @bargepole is a parody or not.
Anyway ...
Since I only ever view the Gasroom on my phone there are features which I rarely, if ever, make use of since they are menu options accessed by clicking on my user icon (top RHS).
Thumbs up/down ratios and numbers of posts are, I presume, two of these features. It turned out that PMs is here too, so for a long time I was unaware that feature even existed! Hence some of the difficulty in setting up a coffee meet up.
Basically I only ever use the left hand menu, three bars, to access recent discussions.
As a consequence I have no idea what my thumbs ratio is, or if there are any PMs waiting my attention.
Most people probably have me on ignore, which might not be a bad thing. Personally I consider the Gasroom to be much like a discussion down the pub. People either agree or disagree in equal measure, as is their perspective - unless you hold extreme views. Joshing your mates, by deliberately disagreeing with what is a perfectly sensible view point is part the experience. It's being ignored you want to worry about...

Can @Twizz still post rationally on a wet Tuesday in Stoke however?
No, nor do I post reliable injury updates - despite being told by GMac himself his injury status. I suppose I should be proud that he felt the need to give me a misleading statement.

Up to you but if you want to be like bargepole and be at almost 300% you are going to have to post some incredibly offensive posts to make up for list time.

I like @bargepole. As an atheist and general non-believer in any supernatural events I find it surprisingly pleasing that a character from The Fast Show (or similar) has escaped from the realms of satirical fiction to exist in this physical realm.

seeing as the object of this post is not as offended as it seems my usual (and his mate) disapproving Gasroomer is...my original theory about my down thumbers stands! 😊
Just doing a live feed from Bradford on ITV regional news up here. Still not definitely on. Ref rolling and bouncing the ball and apparently not bouncing at all.
The pitch looks awful - areas of very wet mud. For the sake of everyone travelling tonight I hope it goes ahead. Expect to see the ball in the air a lot!

Will this be the first ever match to be begin as a game of football and end as a game of water polo?
I'm surprised Bargepole hasn't said that this is a proper winter football pitch which the snowflakes have never seen before. Back in the 70's we all played on pitches like this before riding our Raleigh Choppers home for Spangles and Angel Delight while watching The Generation Game on a portable TV.

Anyone know any good lawyers (or even one of those wannabe fake lawyer folks) who might take up the case?

Your best ever post
@micra is one my faves.
Most certainly so.

@drcongo @micra and the late chazharps are the Godfathers of the Gasroom....
Crikey. I sincerely hope that @ChasHarps is alive and kicking. He has been sorely missed.
……and I’m delighted to see he is still popping his head round the door from time to time.
It’s particularly sad if his reason for not engaging in discussion is because of altercations with one particular poster.

Your thumbs down ratio is......0.4%
@Twizz That 'goal difference' is to be admired. Strong in defence, and entertaining in attack. The stats prove it.
And it's your testimonial next year!
Can @Twizz still post rationally on a wet Tuesday in Stoke however?
No, nor do I post reliable injury updates - despite being told by GMac himself his injury status. I suppose I should be proud that he felt the need to give me a misleading statement.
Am I aiming to go higher or lower?
And, for me, extremely welcome and uplifting at a time when life in general has been a bit dispiriting.
Trite, I know, but a win in wet West Yorkshire this evening would also be a huge boost.
Thanks, @DevC.
Hear hear to all the positive posts about @micra. A vital and beloved figure in this forum.
Brilliant, mate. One of your very best posts.
Made I laarf.

Thanks for the kind words @Twizz.

The game appears to be on. The next question is will it finish?
are you calling it @bookertease?
I've just booked leave for the next two Tuesday night matches...if they start buggering about with the fixtures again, I will be most displeased!
Posters on the Bradford forum are saying it's definitely on.
Will this be the first ever match to be begin as a game of football and end as a game of water polo?
I’m hoping this is paying homage to Frank Wilson! Great song.
