Sadly inevitable. I hope he can find a platform to show his talent and get to a level he wants to get to. Potts didn't look brilliant in those first 2 games but Breckin looked, I don't know, scared? Potts, like Anis, continued to make mistakes but evolved each game, with increasing swagger. And like Anis this is why Wycombe is a great home for young talents to thrive, we allow them to make mistakes. Some players just do the business when the moment is offered to them, some players are like rabbits in headlights.
Sadly there are hundreds of Breckins out there that will be safely in the academy system until they are 21/22 and then plummet down the pyramid as they are technically great but just not game ready. Thats what happens when you effectively play friendlies your whole playing career.
£250k a year to play academy football? That's insane. And a four-year contract? No wonder he didn't have the motivation to push on and compete for a Wycombe spot and the prize of, what, early release from Man City, then signing for a League One club on £50k, maybe £75k a year? Much better to stay in the gilded bubble of youth football.
That is frightening. I recall, and this was a good while back, Alan Green talking about a Man Yoo trip to a European game. 2 youth team players accompanied him onto the plane but went into business / first instead of the normal seats. He asked them why and they simply responded that they were Manchester United players.
Some years ago I can remember someone discussing a 20 something Arsenal player he knew, made a few Cup and League appearances, was on the bench a lot but didn't seem bothered, lots of people were aghast saying why doesn't he move to play as he was unlikely to ever make it into the team, but as my colleague pointed out, he was earning £250,000 a year then (nothing now I suppose) and he quite a sensible chap, so could probably be set up for life after football even if he never made it it to double figures in League appearances.
Yup some players are quite content looking at the cash and going ‘who needs appearances?’ Stuart Taylor had an extraordinary career at the top of the pyramid for 20 years totalling 75 appearances. Some of us would give a right nut to be a pro footballer, some are less bothered. Hogan Ephraim. There’s another. Great talent. Not bothered about playing.
He was a decent punt, but it's just not happened. Not all his fault, as we've been a real state for some of his spell, but it didn't look worth pursuing to me.
Well to be fair, it's not my money! We just don't seem to have enough attackers, and I well remember how long it can take players to play themselves back into form.
Not a hill I am going to die on, anyway - I won't be shedding tears if he leaves, I just want us to have options!
Surely if anyone has left us the club would have the decency to let us know ? The amount of stuff that gets put out on Twitter every day, but no mention of people leaving ?
Could always be either he's staying - there's never been any debate as far as the club is concerned and he just wasn't available last game for whatever reason.
Or he could be renegotiating if the initial deal had ended.
Both scenarios wouldn't necessarily be wise for the club to do an update on
Yeah maybe, but the Breckin one as well ? If it's true that he's announcing stuff himself on whatever it's called and he has gone, why would we not announce it as well ?

From his original interview I would let him return to his previous club, where he can continue to happily play 18 holes on a regular basis.
Breckin's return to Man City has been confirmed by him on Instagram.
Rob needs to send him a letter saying 'control ball...put it in net'...cue hat-trick at Burton.
As long as there’s no other scorers. I’ve gone for 3-2 to us.

I wish him all the very best, but I fear it’s yet more evidence that academies don’t prepare players for men’s football.
Indeed. Freddie Potts is one of those relatively rare exceptions that prove the rule.
I wonder what coaches are actually taught when they go on their FA/UEFA courses.
All the coaching and academy games in the world wont ready for you for a hairy-arsed L1 journeyman flying into in a genuinely competitive match.

At least most of them are on a decent wage if it goes all pear shaped. Breckin signed a 4 year contract on £6k per week before joining us on loan.
We’re being linked with Bromley striker Ben Krauhaus. A fee of £150,000 has been mentioned.

Uh oh - he's come through their academy!
You're one of life's optimists.

The BFP reports that Ainsworth might be the next Chelsea Womens manager.
They offer no evidence of why this might be so.
Think he can also play midfield, or did at least when I saw him. Wasn’t bad at all.
If we signed him we’d also be well up for his signature song of “Krauhaus in the middle of our pitch”.
But does he know how to S***haus?
If he does there’s definitely a very good song in that somewhere!!
I think trying Breckin up front rather than Lyle Taylor might have worked out better for all concerned.
He’s in parties. It’s in the can.
Scan read this as panties.
That's enough internet for today.
Has the club actually announced that Breckin has left? A bit strange not to.
