Interesting. I was at the Marlow v Leatherhead match the other weekend. Tarpey came on as a half time sub for Leatherhead and did absolutely nothing, although I probably had higher expectations of his ability to judge that against. Marlow are doing pretty well in the league and scoring goals hasn't been a problem. Will be interesting to see how much of a player he still is.
About six or seven years ago Tarpey was scoring for fun at Maidenhead, some of the individual goals were amazing. Calls on the Gasroom, broadening horizons beyond the usual call to re-sign former players, wanted him signed asap. Rumour was he was earning more as an accountant and semi pro than he would as a full time league pro. He stayed at the Magpies and promptly got a serious injury and was never the same player again.
Preferably not Arsenal U21s - they've been using the competition to give some pretty good first-teamers minutes (I'm guessing after injury). Fabio Vieira played against Reading ffs - he's a £34.2m signing ffs.

Richard Kone is a man of many talents.
Can someone enlighten me on the Dave Tarpey talk?
Show me a club that doesn't expect to be able to command a fee for their star striker...

Would make a decent Netflix docudrama.
The serious injury came after he finally went pro, with Barnet when they were in L2. Did his ACL only a few games in.
I think it was in only his 2nd league game
Tarpey was definitely ‘The Player’.
Yeah, just looked that up. Brutal - and he'd rejected Coventry not that long before.
That makes sense though. It was probably during one of their unfortunate periods where they played their home games in.... Coventry.
As per Pete O’Rourke on Twitter…
Wycombe, Notts County and Peterborough race for Tamworth sensation Jamie Jellis.
A perfect signing for when we go through that mid season wobble.
POTD
i scream when he scores
Looks like he is from Aylesbury originally?
I don't think you're ready for James jellis.
I disagree, I think he is all set.
Reminds me of this Jeff Stelling classic https://youtu.be/BORQH_L4SfI?feature=shared
He'll sign in a trifle.
I AM Gareth Ainsworth and I WANT MY JELLIS
Is that the first ever Fist Of Fun reference on the gasroom? I salute you @Kim_il_Swan
Tarpey watch - came off the bench last night to score a 90th minute winner on his Marlow debut. Can't believe we've missed out again!!
We’ll play one of Arsenal or Fulham’s U21s, Bristol Rovers or the PNLs in the next round of the EFL Trophy.
I suppose it beats playing at Blackpool, our last appearance in the second round of this competition, but regionalized draws are a bit dull.

It’s basically Sophie’s choice but with four kids and you don’t want any of them.
They lost 5-2.
