While I understand that this could happen, I don't think it will. Mellor only played 34 minutes (according to Sutton's website) on loan at Sutton and could he end up being another L Taylor who is horribly lacking in match practice and is goal-shy?
We’d have to sign another left back if Boyes goes as, for example the next three league matches, you’d want Leahy in the midfield two if either Scowen or Potts aren’t available.
I thought Idris Odutayo of Fulham U21s was pretty good against us in the BSM Trophy. He played left side of a back 3 that night but spent last season on loan at Maidenhead and primarily played left back.
You’d have to imagine a player like that would be available for a loan to a League One club as he’s not getting a game in the PL any time soon.
I would be surprised and a little disappointed if Boyes has gone. Early season form was encouraging, he has faded admittedly but that has to be why we have him on board. Maybe with JJ coming back to fitness, KVY able to fulfil that role and Leahey it is a spot we are more than covered with.
The obvious target would be the 19 year old attacking goalscoring midfielder, Josh Stokes. Have a look at his showreel. Great finisher, astute movement off the ball and pretty pacy.
Against that, surely not in the £500k category just yet. Our own links with Aldershot are well established so you never know !!
Aldershot have supposedly had numerous Championship scouts down to watch Stokes over the first few months of the season so I wouldn't rule out a £500k fee. The only tweets linking Oxford with him seem to come from a relatively dubious Twitter account so we shall see...
"Football Insider" on twitter has again linked us, Bolton and Oxford with Joe Taylor this morning.
First EFL club Peterborough (his birthplace), Kings Lynn, 20 goals in 11 appearances for Wroxham (on loan from Kings Lynn, I think) and now banging them in at at Colchester at a greater rate than Al-Hamadi (?). His 6 yellow cards suggest that he likes to get stuck in as well.
I would be a little surprised if Boyes went back. He has been getting a reasonable amount of minutes with us overall, and has been quite solid. Not sure what the play would be there from Sheffield United's point of view.
Despite his lack of any kind of form so far, I would still keep Lyle Taylor if he is not on too much money. We feel thin in attack, and it may be a case of playing himself into form.
Have to disagree. Cannot see too much progress over the last few weeks. Falls over a lot, throws his arms about and certainly doesn’t look a goal threat. Likely to be on reasonable money. Use that money more effectively in this window.

One of the Wycombe sites on Twitter is reporting that Kone is a done deal.

More ins and outs expected in Jan.

Think Lyle Taylor and Kian Breckin have already left and possibly Harry Boyes too.
The other two I can see the reasons, but shame about Boyes. He had potential...and I would rather have him at left back than Leahy while Josh is out.
So is it official that Lyle Taylor is gone?
I keep forgetting KVY can play there, albeit I'm not convinced.
But otherwise, a last season JJ or taking Leahy out of position aren't ideal options.

Is there substance to this rumour? I'd be pretty worried if we didn't have a replacement asap given Scowen's ban.

Luca Woodhouse also looked very good in the Wimbledon tinpot game, maybe he is deemed as ready to make the step up.
I really like Boyes and would be disappointed if he returned.
Have I missed something - why are we discussing Boyes leaving?
The usually reliable Pete O’Rourke has us linked to Luton striker Joe Taylor. 12 goals and 2 assists for Col U this season.
He has also mentioned Bolton, Charlton and Oxford too so I wouldn't fancy our chances!
Oxford are signing some lad from Aldershot for £500k.
Another Taylor....?? We're turning into Duran Duran

Crikey. Wish I could type half as fast as you, @Brownie !
Now that would be the coup of the century.

Still nothing official from the club re Breckin. I wonder if he has actually gone back??
So have we let Lyle Taylor go and let Breckin and Boyes return to their clubs?
Is this how unfounded rumours begin?
I don’t think we’ve “let” them.

I also can't see any point in keeping Lol Taylor. Still hasn't even reached the dizzy heights of "completely useless".
I was just repeating the content of someone’s earlier thread @Twizz .
Just trying to get some clarity really.
There doesn't seem to be any basis for the Boyes suggestions at all, asides from the fact he didn't play on NYD.
