Yes, @TheAndyGrahamFanClub - good spot. He’d been niggled by an incident a few seconds earlier, where the ref had been having one of those running ‘conversations’ with him while the game was in progress. Difficult to make out exactly what the root cause of Josh’s frustration was, but “the next tackle” is always the one to watch in those circumstances, and unfortunately the opportunity for Josh to establish his authority in the ongoing battle came rather too quickly.
That's how I saw it, watching at AP, although my son who was watching online hadn't noticed the chain of events.
Scowen was having a running 'conversation' with the ref who was clearly pointing out to him that he'd already got away with a few that could have been bookings. I commented to the person next to me that Scowen appeared to be losing his head a bit which was unlike him... then he made that challenge. Whether it was intentional or not, it didn't surprise me at all when the ref reached for the red card.
I'd seen Scowen and the ref have what looked like heated conversations on a couple of occasions with Josh showing what he thought of the ref's decisions. At one point I though the ref was going to card him, but sent him away with what looked like a "this is absolutely your last chance" warning. So imho, he seemed so steamed up I doubt he would have finished the game on the pitch even without that tackle.
Yeah and it would be bizarre to play Potts against WHU-U23s, even if it’s contractually sound. Potts will likely benefit from some rest now - he’s only just come back from injury and he’s played two 80+ minute appearances in a demanding role in quick succession.
I spoke to Potts after the game on Monday and confirmed he couldn't play against West Ham next week. He seemed quite disappointed, with his old man being the coach there.

Matt Taylor's post match interview was indeed quite refreshing.
Have I missed @davecz 's response to this victory?
Very pleased but I reminded of that old adage ‘ one swallow doesn’t make a summer ‘. Let’s hope it’s the start of better things under Bloomfield.
Very fair indeed.
He's obviously not read the Bristol Rovers Manager handbook.

'Come on ref, if I don't get a red and a few games out no-one else has a look-in for Motm votes...'
I believe that his suspension doesn't count for the Bristol Street Motors game so I think he might be able to keep his fitness going for that match.

Stoke are eyeing up Potts I've heard
I don’t think the rules would allow Potts to play anyway plus his dad coaches the West Ham youngsters so that might create a few domestic problems!
domestic problems...yeah that could be a bit of a Hotpoint!
Cowleys to Col U then, interesting.

Potts to the Potters, I get it.
At least you avoided the temptation of a tawdry big jugs gag.
That's an insight into your naughty mind @ReadingMarginalista
Potts handles big jugs whilst negotiating Wedgewood deal
Bit rubbish..must do better
