"and worst of all for the QPR fans, it seems belittling the club in every interview he gave" = "not calling them a Premier League top six club who will win the Champions' League within the next 4 years"
Think he was acutely aware the fans thought they should be in the playoffs (if not the champions league) whilst he was being told to cut the wage bill and sell players that nobody was interested in buying and that a point above the drop was success. All went to shit in the end obviously.
There's an argument he shouldn't have gone back at that time but he also probably thought it wouldn't take them a decade to ask him in the first place.
Looks like he is a one club man though. His methods are out dated and his style of football is universally disliked across the entire football league. Can’t see many owners wanting to employ him sadly.
I watched QPR and the players followed GAs instructions to the letter. The reality is that group of players was wholly unsuited to what Ainsworth tried to until. Madness all round.
Yes I do not want to see him back at the club. For me the football was dire on the whole, and I think fans opinions are clouded by the results. And personally I think his record is pretty average when you look at it within the context of 12 full seasons. That’s an awful lot of time for a manager to get it right. Give that amount of time to any manager and I’d wager they’d eventually deliver something also. Think GA and his beliefs are very out dated and best he can hope for is a league 2 club.
Who won QPR the championship and delivered promotion to the premier league at a canter with Ale Faurlin and Adel Taraabt - two highly technical players who ran rings round the opposition with possession football. Let’s not compare GA and Warnock. For starters, GA would have ostracised Taraabt, yet it was his genius that was the difference. As I said, GAs methods and beliefs are outdated, and he needs to change his ways if he is to be a success at another club.
I would contend that GA kept us competitive under very poor circumstances for quite a few of those seasons and if two promotions were the result and one to our highest position in history...the club's loyalty was repaid.
Just like he ostracised Anis who rang rings around Lge1 defenders in his last few months with us.
Ainsworths record with us in his last 4/5 years speaks for itself and was extraordinary. Everyone hated playing us because we were one of the toughest teams to beat in Lge1.
The rejoicing by other Lge1 clubs fans at our loss and imminent drop back to non league tells me all I need to know about how good Gareth was at getting the best out of a squad.
Opposing fans hated playing us because we quite often beat much bigger teams with much bigger budgets.
Just 10 months ago saw his outdated methods pick us up 39 points from his last 19 games in charge.
If Matt leaves or steps down then I would be delighted to get Gareth back in.
Yep, we all remember how Ainsworth marginalised highly technical players who could run rings around the opposition like Anis Mehmeti and Garath McCleary.
From speaking to a sensible QPR fan, he reckoned it was always a tough gig for him there, as the squad is full of prima donnas. The players and Ainsworth just weren't the right match. He never had the finances to bring in his own players and was stuck with players who'd consistently failed managers before him.
They've had a bounce with the new man, but how will the players get on once the going gets tougher? Also, from looking at the highlights of their match against Hull, they were hugely indebted to a wonderful goalkeeping display from Begovic for the win on Saturday.
Seems to be based all on the fact he looked like he was holding back tears in his farewell video. Maybe he was just upset to be leaving - just a thought...
I think an ITK at the time said GA wanted to go but Dobbo was not keen. We had a mad half a day where we thought Dobbo might stay and take over. Coupled with his tearful expression, it seemed to be confirmed.

@HitAndHope as you seem to have joined just to post that...are you worried about a GA return or would like to see him back?
Apols I thought you'd joined in November 2023 as I did not recognise the name and I see it's 2022...so I see it's just a rare post.

Three wins doesn't automatically mean this new guy is the Messiah, let's see what they're saying when he loses a few.
QPR fans really are a bit odd aren’t they?
Universally disliked, outdated, direct, unsuited...yet quite a lot of them wanted to replace him with Warnock.
GA will absolutely still get a L1 or L2 job, they will just see how he did for us on a shoestring, that will be enough

Not many managers take a club from League 2 to the Championship,
(If this is Bargepole's new sockpuppet account then he's really come on in leaps and bounds)
We haven’t won a league game in about fifteen years. Who cares about style at the moment?
Cheers for the reply. To be fair looking at your six posts since November 2022, I should have known the answer.

Bollocks

Is your name Tony Craig out of interest? Let it go mate.
Matt. Just let it go and focus on next Saturday.
This is starting to age well.
I'm falling asleep and read that as 'the squad is full of piranhas' at first.
’Giddy and naive,’ is a bit rough I think. GA knew this was his best and probably only shot at the QPR job and that’s what made his mind up.
I’d love to know about the discussions with Dobbo though. Maybe a subject for Ringing the Blues in the early 2030s.
I don’t know why this narrative that Richard Dobson didn’t really want to leave Wycombe Wanderers / join Queens Park Rangers persists.
There’s no ambiguity here 👉 https://youtu.be/EJpx1ec7Z8M?si=WuKxj0nDQUrvmB4Z

You’d like to think it’s based on something a little more substantial than that.
Yes, but this is the Gasroom.

That doesn’t sound much like conclusive evidence to me. Not least compared to the words from Richard’s own mouth.
Did you expect him on a QPR channel to say "well I didn't really fancy it but Gaz talked me into it?"
