I am capable of reading and also capable of asking a straightforward question as to what evidence you had to support your ‘suspicion’ that Hanlan had refused to play. You didn’t, as far as I know, respond.
Rob Couhig interview on WTV suggests that Wrexham made an illegal approach for Hanlan and that we decided not to do any business with them from that point onwards.
No real hints about Uche, but does say that we have brought in more development players.
Oooo I bet that won’t be featured in the TV show. A clandestine meeting at the Cressex service station. Actually do we have an equivalent for the Turnpike for outgoing players? Maybe The Crest Hotel.
I joked yesterday about the fan base getting told off by Rob, but he does make some very valid points about the impact rumours can have on players who might be affected.
Hopefully this whole saga doesn’t dent Brandon’s confidence too much and he comes back a better player for us.
That’s always been my thought. Being secretive is absolutely fine but you need to have a thick enough skin to understand it leaves an information vacuum that people are going to fill with speculation. I don’t think you can then whinge and moan too much if there’s wild speculation put out there even if it is massively wrong. This is why the whole secretive contract length thing has always seemed to be them making a rod for their own backs when there’s no need for it (and agents who’s job it is to get there player new contracts at whatever club that wants them)
Its an art I think they haven’t got right - giving enough information at the right times to satisfy fan curiosity but enough to keep your cards close to their chests. I suspect they wouldn’t be good poker players
Speculation is part and parcel of any sport. Long before social media a bloke knew a guy whose wife cut the hair of an agent of a top player who was seen in the area recently. If speculation wasn’t part of the game football coverage would be 100 minutes long.
Players have to deal with it. Owners have to deal with it. By the club not making a strong statement early in the speculation they effectively solicited an approach. A simple ‘our player is not available at any price’ would have ended it. Not doing so knowingly made other parties know he MIGHT be available. That too is part of the game football and business. Rob shouldn’t be holier than thou, he’s a business man. He knows the game.
So is the club required to put out a strong statement every time a two-bit twitter account speculates for clicks?
No-one minds a bit of transfer gossip but when it steps over the line (claims that a player refused to turn out for the club), that’s taking it a bit far for me.
Anyway, no harm done judging by mustard’s performance yesterday.
The manager was fielding questions about it. This was not a ‘two-bit Twitter account’ this was our clubs own media man. Tuesday would have been the day to close it down, if that was the outcome the owners wanted.
Even then, there’s a critical mass. If one two bit Twitter account is saying it you can ignore it.
If 20 are saying it, and some more reputable ones are picking up on more details - information has gotten out somewhere and might be worth addressing them to set the record straight if its is so important to the owners that players and there families are being affected.
Why would they say he wasn't available at any price when that's pretty obviously not the case.
If a player is under contract you can do any prep work you like but until you have a bid accepted it counts for nothing. Blooms didn't get directly involved in the speculation other than saying it had been a busy week and impacted some players, is he supposed to lie as well? I thought we wanted more info not less. Like it matters at all.

No, because I'm not indulging your interrogation nonsense.
I agree, should have left it with my final comment. Lesson learned.
On a rare winning Saturday, best we all revel in that.
Plenty of time for scuffling the next time we lose.
Becoming less rare after two on the bounce! 'Mr. Weekend' banner incoming?
Not that rare, second Saturday in a row 😀
I’ve cancelled the petition I had previously submitted to the EFL for all of our games to be played in midweek.
No, it’s not. DevC was replying to a completely benign comment…
Dev made a ridiculous presumption, @ReturnToSenda told him to piss off, you stuck your oar in and got yourself in a very confused mess.
The summer and for the first ten or so games I usually find the Gasroom to be somewhat grim.
...and then you acclimatize to our unique brand of dark yet gentle whimsy?

Ironically that's my tinder profile
I would love someone to indulge my interrogation nonsense
Genuinely never heard it called that before though

As an aside however, I would say if the club don’t want fans to speculate, then don’t give them reason to.
Including pieces on the club’s media channels about both Brandon and Uche set the fire alight for a lot of the gossip.
Similar to making cheeky jokes about VPN then wondering why attendances at the game are so low.
Sorry this is complete late night nonsense from me. Ian is a Wycombe legend and top man

Tbh, I take anything Rob says with a pinch of salt
Did he have anything to say about the access road?
