You're kind of making my point. Of course if Wrexham had made an approach with the right cash we would have taken it, using the illegal approach line is such a nonsense. If an approach was made written on the side of a slaughtered unicorn but with a big enough number it would be accepted. Rob being a little sanctimonious pretending otherwise.
It was in the club's interest to keep the rumour going as we were willing to sell, we are always willing to sell, we have to be willing to sell. Clearly the number never crystallised and other parties didn't come in to shill bid. Whether Hanlan and Blooms were part of this (very common) charade we will never know. And I'm sure there was an agent trying to get some hard earned cash out of this somewhere.
Hear, hear. He canāt win-says nothing and heās accused of not communicating with the fans, does an interview and his comments are dredged up and used against him.
Then stick to one approach. Be consistent. Understand that if you do go with the silent keeping things close to your chest approach, thatās fine, but itās going to leave a vacuum which will be filled with speculation.
Donāt then break your silent, secretive, keeping things close to your chest approach to whinge about said vacuum being filled with the only things fans have left - Speculation.
whatās so hard with a simple, repetitive message of ālook, we understand fans want to know more but we think this is the best approach. Judge us on the results you see rather than the rumours you hearā.
I for one would respect that a lot more than some of the grumpy, snide and obvious attacks on some of the fans.
I said elsewhere on another thread but this āapproaching a player illegallyā thing is a weird concept.
Iāve heard on Gary Linekar (gave a story of Clough talking to him about joining Forrest while rooming with Shilton on England duty) and Peter Crouchās pod cast (and iirc a clip from a third) that itās pretty basic practise for a club to approach a player one way or another with a āif we put in a bid would you be interested in playing for usā question to the player/agent. They donāt even bother putting a bid or request to speak to the player of there is no hope of them joining. Itās not worth anyoneās time
Now, is that classed as an illegal approach? Do we honestly think that sort of scenario doesnāt happen all the time given itās an agents job to make sure a player has a contract of employment?
Should it really be much of a surprise to anyone that Forino might be interested in a move to QPR before a bid was put in. Or that Wrexham are throwing big wages around for anyone to join them and likely to turn players heads before a bid is put in?
It is quite an odd thing, this āillegalā approach. A friend of mine asked me recently if Iād thought about moving to the organisation she works for as there was a post open. I am currently gainfully employed by the NHS. Has a crime been committed, a law broken? @bargepole we need you now.
Fair play. People's usual retort when you call him out is 'He saved the club! Be more grateful' - acting like he bought Wycombe out of pure benevolence when, in reality, he was just in the right place at the right time. He's done a lot of good (he's also got a fair amount wrong), but no fan ever owes a temporary custodian any kind of deference.
Did Rob really suggest we were going to report Wrexham for an illegal tap up? My advice, don't be that guy Rob. There may come a time where we want some latitude and if everyone thinks we are running to tell mummy everytime something is not whiter than white we won't get much sympathy.
Comments
Just met a lad from Lane End in these far northern climes. Didn't realise us Stokenchurchers were referred to as 'fraggles' back in the day! š¤£
Or the toilets
Or the best match day experience in the country
'best in class ticketing platform'
Have to say itās getting very tedious, posters keep on referring to Rob Couhig slightly outrageous previous comments. Itās getting boring.

The thought did occur that it may have been Forino who was approached illegally? He didnāt explicitly say and we have assumed it was Hanlan.
Nothing mentioned about the access road. Some comments about upgrades to Wanderers World and a few other minor things.
I lost respect for him a while ago because of his snide little attacks on the fans

I think it just means Ryan Reynolds bid with Canadian dollars, which we could not legally accept.
I donāt think itās actually law breaking illegal. No need to get serial gasroom litigator involved.
More Illegal as in the Illegal Lego pieces concept - something that is exists just used in the āwrong wayā.
Lego is serious business

Me too. And with other people. Which why Iāve decided to stop doing the same and just go in two footed on them. Jason cousins is my hero.

Ivor Beeks once referred to a section of the fanbase as āterrorists.ā Couhigās outbursts are very small beer.
Doesn't make them right. When you're the chairman, you have a responsibility.
Ivor Beeks is a nutter isn't he? 'rushden and Dynamoes' (wtf)
it was all but done, then some red tape tape popped up.
Is this due to international clearance etc? Or is he still officially contracted with Konyaspor?
on the turkish end of things i believe
Careful Kipper, Rob said things about people saying things online. You might be hurting a player and his family with this sort of talk.
I'm telling!
I donāt think that was our esteemed president. If I am remembering correctly it was Graham Peart.
grass.
Even allowing for the nocturnal owling, such a description is uncalled for.
Apart from that, I havenāt a clue what your post is about.
Meh, what are you gunna do!

I havenāt read anywhere that heās said weāre reporting Wrexham to the authorities. Whereās that being said?
It isn't.
