I hope so too. In the small clips I've seen, it's looked like the player we've been looking for. However, he has ONLY played U21 football. That league is a very protected league and while it's competitive, there isn't any full blooded tackles going in. If there is, that player is often withdrawn by the coaches very quickly.
I reckon that Pep allowed him to go out on loan to get a few bumps and bruises to see how he copes and to get him ready for games further up the future pyramid
This is such an odd comment. You're uninspired by a player who by your own admission appears to be very creative, can take a man on, and can whip a good cross in?
Hardly a one or the other though. Some of the Uche hysteria is a bit weird btw, from we'll never get him, past we don't really need him anyway and he's not right for the way we want to play to he's going to sign, and onto why have we signed someone else.
Anyone think he might still, if it's wages that's probably a blocker, if it's clearance or fitness or other clubs being flaky it could well still happen.
If it is clearance I think the key might be proving it was all mutually agreed to terminate his contract before the deadline passed but might be something completely different, sure we'll find out at some point, hope he doesn't have to sit out another 3 months.
I was slightly referring to the fact that Sadlier’s failed to nail down a spot at both Rotherham and then Bolton (in League One) over the last three years so hasn’t had a massive amount of games, or certainly not a consistent run of them.
Similarly, he plays in a position that doesn’t fit in with our current system so didn’t really know how this signing would fit in (hence, I refer to the possibility that this may be more of a squad player signing as opposed to one that goes straight into the starting XI). Whilst he has a lot of attributes we’re looking to add to our attack, I wasn’t exactly sure how Blooms could make use of them. If it signifies a move away from the 5-back then it certainly would make more sense.
Seeing all the positive comments from Bolton fans though, and remembering that signing attackers with points to prove (especially those that have some Championship experience) and getting them to perform is what we do so well, I have to apologise for the slightly knee-jerk use of ‘uninspiring’ on my behalf. Definitely could be, and hopefully will be, a smart signing.
I would expect Sadlier is on a decent wage, Orient stated last week that he was on too much at Bolton for them to afford him. Therefore, I think we may have opted on him ahead of Uche for whatever reason. As much as I like Uche, I'm pretty excited about Sadlier.
Couldn't agree more about the last sentence. Sadlier has had a pre-season, had some games under his belt, has been playing competitive football and is good to go. Uche (yes we all loved him, and it was fun when he was doing good goals when fit) will be weeks away from match fitness, hasn't scored for at least 3 prime ministers, and might not be anywhere near the player none of us saw play in the Championship (unless he played that game v Stoke which was one of the worst football experiences of my life).
I thought I read he can play as a left-back or left wing back@PukkaPie so perhaps back 5 not yet abandoned.. Perhaps with JJ out it was decided Boyes needed some cover.
To confirm doesn't look like he appeared for Bolton this season. In checking I stumbled upon a grim story about ex-posh star Marcus Maddidon now retired and in prison for punching a pensioner on a night out.
@StrongestTeam Well quite. May 2023 is the answer.... My challenge was against the statement "has been playing competitive football" (friendlies don't fall under the definition). Hence the question.
I Get the point, vs Uche, but it's a stretch to suggest, as TAGFC did, that he's "good to go". I'm pleased we have him, though. Just suggesting that, like anyone who hasn't played for a while, he'll need to get up to match fitness/speed, so just lowering initial expectations.

I hope Breckin comes good. Sounded very promising when he joined us.
Hints of Foden from the Citeh fans when he signed. Some adapt to the step up quicker.
I agree entirely and I imagine everyone from the Chairman down feels the same. It’s not surprising a level of exasperation sometimes creeps out
5, sorry - I missed Phillips - but still!
Hilarious with the number of supposed ITKs hanging around that he watched the game on Saturday sat next to our head of recruitment and nobody noticed.
Everybody had their eyes shut for most of that match
Not surprising. I had my eyes closed hiding behind my seat for most of that horror show!
This Uche obsession has reached levels of madness and will end up being the biggest anti climax in years. If he signs or doesn’t.
Has the Couhigs transfer policy been influenced by social media this season?

I'd be surprised if Pep could pick him out in a line-up.

He surely means against the idea of signing Uche, who a lot of us have hyped up to be Tyson/Bayo/Devine/Keith Scott all wrapped up on one.
I reckon Pep knows all of City's youth players meticulously

If its clearance, my understanding is couldn't now happen until January.
With the signing yesterday, surely looks less likely now anyway.

no. Uche didn't play in either of the games when fans were let in. Sad.
Does that mean I am the only person to have seen Uche play live or has he played against us?
@TheAndyGrahamFanClub
I love the prime minister scoring rate
Just realised I saw him play for us for a few minutes. Right at the beginning when he wasn't fit, though.
I thought I read he can play as a left-back or left wing back@PukkaPie so perhaps back 5 not yet abandoned.. Perhaps with JJ out it was decided Boyes needed some cover.
@TheAndyGrahamFanClub I'm confused. When did Sadlier last play any competitive football...?
Got promoted with Orient last season and played in at least one pre season game this, not sure how many.

I remember Peterborough wanting £10million for him at one point.
