Give it till October and we’ll end up being relegated.
The last two league games have been diabolical, not a shred of anything to be optimistic about has come out of either. The players look like they don’t know what they are doing and as for the standard of defending, Jesus Christ.
MB was clearly not happy in his post match with @bluntphil. He was quite clear that there is NO excuse for failing to do the defensive basics as we did in the second half today; I imagine some very stiff words on the bus home & at Marlow Road on Monday.
However @glasshalffull surely you recognise that, as fans of Wycombe Wanderers, we are concerned about the direction the season is taking?
Even with the most rose tinted spectacles on we all know that once the fans have lost faith in the manager, it's a slippery slope to recover. MB has a lot of credit in the bank but it's being burnt through very quickly.
I would encourage everyone to have a little optimism and continue to support Matt and the team in our next two home games. We have the opportunity to help them through this difficult period. I fear what might happen if we don't start well on Tuesday night though.
GA wasn't under much weight of expectation, though. We're supposed to be aiming for promotion, are we not? I personally don't expect higher than mid-table, but even that looks like the stuff of fantasy at the moment.
I remember Ainsworth being roundly criticised when he became manager and even after a couple of seasons in the job he was booed by some fans during the lap of appreciation after our final home game. He became the most successful manager in our history.
I think the problem with trying to play a more ‘footballing’ style is that other teams in League 1 are either better at it or had a lot more recent experience.
Although Gareth’s methods may not have been pretty at times, they gave us a point of difference and allowed us to punch above our weight against ‘better’ teams (on paper).
Would have to recheck the Couhigs comments but I'm sure they suggested last years drop off could be bettered. And there's certainly been no big public reduction of target has there?
You know it has been a strange day when the pessimists are accused of having expected a promotion push, while the optimists boast of never having expected anything of the kind!
I'm starting getting a bit of deja vu with Neil Smillie's ill-fated reign. That's not to say Bloomfield's reign will end the same way, though our hapless start this season is on the way to matching that of the 99/00 season.
EDIT - 98/99 season. I thought I was still just about young enough not to have senior moments, turns out I was wrong...

Whoever said we'd be tight at the back but struggle to create chances was at least half right.

MB was a gamble and sadly it has not worked.

We won't score a goal by October at this rate

GA was useless when he first started. Lets be patient rather than typical football fans.
He looks absolutely furious.
Good to see. It gives me a bit of hope for Tuesday.

Good to hear him say that being new to a team isn't an excuse for not doing football basics properly.
He had a very poor squad and the club had no money. His first proper summer window was incredible and we immediately hit the ground running.

Only 132 points left to play for.
You are correct. However, that also confirms what I was saying. The fans will boo, it will get ugly. Buckle up and prepare for a bumpy ride.
And sometimes the fans will be right
I don’t think any fan can be right if they dismiss an entire season as a failure after just two league games, do you?
Also, who has actually said we are aiming for promotion?
I've not seen anyone do that
Don't go on Twitter. They want Bloomfield replaced with one of the cleaners.
At least one poster said we'd come 2nd.
Would have to recheck the Couhigs comments but I'm sure they suggested last years drop off could be bettered. And there's certainly been no big public reduction of target has there?
You should take a look at the Facebook page then.
I'm sensible enough to know better!
Fair point.
Two appalling displays against teams we should be competitive against.
MB looked angry in the interview and rightly so. You can set up the team as well as possible but if individuals let you down it’s maddening.
Zero goals. Minimum chances for attacking players. Under 11 competency in defence. It’s a worrying combination
Now the shock and woe has worn off a little, we have a perfect chance to get things going again.
Facing two other teams who have also lost both their games at home back to back.
Let's see how it all looks in a week.
You know it has been a strange day when the pessimists are accused of having expected a promotion push, while the optimists boast of never having expected anything of the kind!
Theyve been quite quiet about any grandiose statements recently, suggesting there's a lower expectation than the past 2 seasons
RC said in one of his recent interviews that promotion is the aim (not that it needed saying).
