Footy fans can be outrageously one eyed, but it's truly baffling how any Derby fan can truly feel hard done by anything outside of their own club's behaviour.
“They can still make signings but are limited to bringing in free agents on the maximum of a one-year deal or players on loan for half a season, up to having 23 in the squad.”
This sentence doesn’t make any reference to finances - they can only offer free agents a 12 month deal but is there also a salary cap on that?
GA and Dobbo have both been adamant (without being prompted) that leaving Wycombe was the right thing. GA even said something along the lines of "They said Wycombe was a job for life, but there is more to life than that." I am still amazed 20 odd games of a Champo basket case with no money to spend is a great trade for a job for life where you are adored, but what do I know?
"I had to come here. but I'd forgotten most of their fans are shimmering ape poor man's Chelsea mugs, the players are all lazy overpaid oafs, and I really regret coming here"
Didn't he win 3 games in the time it took the last chap to win one?
He'd have been after a turnaround like we had after Torquay but it seems they have weakened the squad not improved it. He has to take some of the blame for that even though it would have been very difficult with no money about. His perceived playing style hasn't helped the fans opinions of him.
I put the "without being prompted" bit in as context that these were voluntary comments, and not responses to leading questions.
It's the difference between answering "yes" when the relatives of your new squeeze ask if she is making you happy, or just voluntarily enthusing about how much more you love her than your old girlfriend.
I suppose he is a character that will always back himself. It just seems like he misread the state of the club a little. Interesting that the more analytical one (Dobbo) was reportedly the more reluctant at the time.
True - I just thought it was unnecessary to begin with. To attach "Look at who we are resorting to bringing in" to a player who scored the goal that took us to promotion from L2, was on the pitch against Oxford, played in our only Champo season (albeit briefly) and gave seven years of service smacks of disrespect and ingratitude, especially as GA is defending the QPR players themselves to the hilt.
To mitigate sounding harsh, I do think it is the pressure talking.
But remember he's only anywhere near a championship club because he's known by Gaz, so it works both ways.
By rights, he should be popping up for a league 2 club this summer, to rebuild there. With the potential to build back to league 1 once proving fitness.
If it was a matey favour to an ex player to let him get fit and put him in the shop window that'd be an angle.
But surely Gaz under pressure wouldn't do that, and must be considering him?
I saw a clip that suggests they have all their centre backs out, fielded 2 kids without 1 league game between them, and lost some other key player recently.
Dobbo did a video on their website that was shared here recently saying he's been a QPR fan from early, has friends in the crowd and was very excited to go there. The alternative view seems based on him being emotional in a video where he was saying goodbyes to players he knew well and he'd been trying to improve for years.
Leaving us for a cashed up L1 team might have been a better career move for them if offered but credit to them not doing that if offered.

From Derby's correspondent in FourFourTwo. Lol.
Yeah, but they've continued to regress under Gaz. It's a shame, but he'll be gone before long.
I see Reading are now under another transfer embargo ...
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/66314265.amp
Lol, was Wing their only signing between embargoes?
They signed a couple of players from Cambridge
"Last week new head coach Ruben Selles told BBC South Today that he needed "at least 10 new players" to complete his squad for the League One season."
At least stfu until you have paid your bills.
They need to read Derby's book on how to get HRMC to settle for pennies on the pound, all the while maintaining one's sense of victimhood.
They haven't regressed have they? More stayed at the same crap level.

I think plenty would debate that!

He's not going to say
"I had to come here. but I'd forgotten most of their fans are shimmering ape poor man's Chelsea mugs, the players are all lazy overpaid oafs, and I really regret coming here"
is he now?

He's a very positive guy and if he's already saying how they're "up against it" 1 week from the start of the season you have to fear for them.
Doesn't sound the sort of enviornment that'd be good for Forino to go into right now.

He had to go for it.
If you have a dream job, especially in a fast paced fickle industry like football, you simply might not get a second chance.
You really wonder where he would pop up after QPR, but hopefully that's some way off for now.
Good point. It does rather sound as though he is getting his excuses in early, even using Gape as chum for the circling QPR fans, which annoys me.
I suppose he is a character that will always back himself. It just seems like he misread the state of the club a little. Interesting that the more analytical one (Dobbo) was reportedly the more reluctant at the time.
I'd have been more against the Gape comment if he'd said "we're having to resort to trialists who were released from league 1 clubs".
That'd be more insulting.
But goodness knows what QPR fans are making of the combo of a released L1 player with such a poor injury record!

What's annoyed me more than anything about the QPR fans is some have also turned on Dobbo, poor Dobbo, I'm still not 100% he wanted to go
To think that they could actually sign him is absolutely wild. Surely not?
Yes, that is the saddest part. Dobbo probably saw this coming but chose to be loyal to GA. He is some person, Dobbo.
Hilarious how the Americans are bigging up this PL summer series as a proper competitive thing and the players/coaches are having none of it

Sounds a bit bleak.

I really feel for them both but at the same time I feel the time was right for GA to go, both for him and for us.
I am happy with our situation and feel really excited about the coming season and the super job Matt has done with the recruitment.
The GA time was good but it is behind us now and we move on.
COYB!!!
Exactly, @StrongestTeam, seems like they both really wanted to go there because of their affection for the club.
