Became pretty clear he wasn't ever going to be a Gape/Scowen/Thommo/Wheeler type working his socks off in centre mid. Not sure Wing was either but he had real quality and end product and you need that to be given freedom.
I was young when he was in charge.. I never warmed to him as a person... and my overriding memory of him is almost getting us relegated from league football.... gaz saved us.. just.. . And brining in mostly aldershot players

Can we lock up Phil Catchpole and Matt Cecil just in case?
Olly Pendlebury joins my boyhood team Ayr United.

What a draw Scottish football seems to be to ex Blues players.
Always surprised that he didn't get more of a look in with us, after his more than useful start.
Wonder if things might have been different if Matt had been in charge then.
Ayr have also signed up with our old kit manufacturer O'Neills and just released a change kit that isn't to everyone's taste.

Pendlebury scored two more goals and looked decent, I was surprised to see him go but in Gaz and Dobbo we trusted.
That game at Cheltenham was a false narrative. Yes he scored a couple of crackers but the game was passing him by in mid field for all to see, naive.

It did seem a bit harsh when Pendlebury was released after what had been a decent enough first season for a player who was still really young.
It’s why the Wakely loan seems a good idea. Keep the player on the books instead and send them away for a year to see if they cut it.
After leaving Thame United, Mark West has joined...Thame United A, part time.

Paul Smyth signs for QPR
Well.... blow me...
I thought that was old news...hence my post on another thread.
GA continues his MO, then. I suspect one or two more of his ex-players might join him still.
New two year contract for Alex Samuel at Ross County.

Fully expect Anthony Stewart to sign on loan for the season at QPR, especially with Dickie gone to Bristol City
At least they are making and announcing something....anything....aggghhhh.... come onnn!!! 😅😅😅
Well done Alex!
I think this is GA's expected lineup for the first match:
Allsop
Harriman
Stewart
Forino
Fred
Scowen
Gape
Wing
Muskwe
Smyth
Uche
That’s great news. One of life’s good guys
Not sure they will be able to afford Fred’s Premier League wages
Be gobsmacked if he’s at Luton next season.

News of Gary Waddock getting new job
Walsall: Stoke striker Douglas James-Taylor signs as Gary Waddock appointed assistant coach https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66040815
Good old Gary wazzock... the worst manager bar Tony Adams in my time as a supporter....I'm 38.... a baby on here.... supporting since I was 14/15
Gary Waddock had his faults without doubt, but it seems odd to brand a manager with whom we won promotion so negatively. Each to their own though.
