What a brilliant season that was. Highest amount of aways I've done by a long time, and possibly the finest actual starting team we've ever had in the league?
That'd be a decent debate against the last few seasons team?
Can't quite remember what happened there, After Paris and Scowen were sold I thought we were done for but Nico and Sammy Saunders arrived and Hogan and AAH1 and it was probably inevitable we changed shape. But for all his good points Ainsworth certainly knew how to freeze someone out when he'd had enough of them .
From memory, I seem to remember talk of Murphy being homesick. I think his family remained in the NW and it was suggested he was travelling to and from there a lot. Looking back he went from a definite starter to an ever-present sub halfway through the season.
Still made 44 appearances that one season with us.
Have the feeling he was released from his contract to allow him a move back north (Morecambe).
Evolved quite a lot that season and from Torquay a few months earlier, ending up with Hogan, Hayes and Holloway up front, amazing if anyone "knew what they were going to get from Wycombe "
He was frustrating wasn't he. So much talent but had to almost be forced to stay as a footballer rather than just sack it off and chill retired in his 20s.
Love that they just play on a cricket pitch/can't believe that the groundsman is too chuffed that the centre spot is literally in the middle of the square!
Great for the lad. He deserved his opportunity and not sure he was going to get it with us. Losing Vokes and Gmac and the sale of Anis changed our attacking options of course so everyone will wonder whether it could have worked out. We will never know.

That midfield of Wood, Murphy, Scowen & Cowan-Hall was something special, wasn't it.
Wasn't Pete Murphy forced to retire ridiculously young, or am I misremembering?
Coaches at Wigan I believe
Think Murphy fell out of favour mid season for whatever reason.
But yes, played against us, injured himself fouling one of our players I think and cruelly had to quit pretty early.

Nico ? Yennaris ? (Probably wrong spelling - Brentford lad. Right back/wingback?)

Yeah, mostly played midfield for us though.
And China international!
Murphy's form dipped once Cowan-Hall left. Paris would force teams to defend deeper leaving space for a midfielder such as Murphy to exploit.
With Paris gone we were bereft of pace up front meaning teams could push up a bit and the space Murphy used to thrive in was no longer there.
Loved Peter Murphy, great midfielder and had some real nasty niggle to his game as well.

Horgans kids doing well 👍🏻
Paul Smyth sco9res for Leyton Orient at Hartlepool. 0-1.
Al-Hamadi didn’t score today. What’s going on ? Is he on International duty ?
Think someone confirmed to you (somewhat facetiously) when you said he'd be starting for us today.
He wouldn't be - because he's away.
My minds gone blank, who's Hogan?
Hulk?
Ephraim I think.
Ahh Ephraim.

One of my favourite frustrations. An amazing talent. An amazing waste. Almost Ravel Morrison level of squander.
People often talk about a waste of talent, but some players just don't want to be pro. Fair play to them.
Bayo missed a last minute penalty for Faversham in a 1-0 defeat to Sittingbourne, leaves them 8 points from safety with 5 games left.
Former Wycombe loanee Matty Parsons was a fellow substitue.
Saved by an outfielder who went in goal
Myles Weston scores directly from a corner, for Antigua & Barbuda.

Myles always could cross a ball. His assist for Thomo’s goal at White Hart Lane one of my top three all time Wanderers goals.

Poland 1-0 Albania at HT with Mehmeti on the bench. If there was ever a time to give him a debut...
Mehmeti is on!
AAH scores again for Wimbledon.
Can we have him back please.
