I mean, they are pretty disrespectful but come on, you must have read them with a huge smile on your face. Like you say, I’m not sure which game he watched. There was also one of the local rags in the Bristol area that slated our style of play. Bitterness…
His comments show that he has no answer to our preparation and approach. Ever since the play-off semis where Fleetwood were caught undercooked and ill disciplined, we live rent-free in his cavernous head. Just like Plymouth fans whipping themselves into a frenzy before games against us in the past, the more Barton spews nonsense like that, the more negative energy he sends out to his players.
What about his comments after the Boxing Day game when he made personal comments about Gareth Ainsworth? . He has brought the game into disrepute throughout his entire career and I detest the man so much I would do anything to heap further shame upon him.
Must admit I was puzzled as to why you would have wanted to draw attention to the fact that someone as lacking in grace as Barton had zero respect for you.
Not sure he can be charged with bringing the game into disrepute but take a lot of comfort from the fact the man is a complete twat , who the vast majority of people would not take seriously at all.
Judging by the comments I've seen from Rovers fans on Twitter, they don't agree with Barton. Plenty of very unexpected praise of Wycombe's performance. He just seems to be seeking some moral high ground to mask his teams failures, but to echo several others from this thread, I'm also not sure what game he was watching! We played some lovely football despite missing several key players and could easily have scored more.
Yes, I know where you are coming from but if the game’s authorities keep turning a blind eye to his disgraceful behaviour then he will continue to get away with it.
The official Rovers Fans forum is barred by my computer security due to a "Trojan This is the latest comment on the independent forum in reply to Barton's comments "Absolute bollocks, Wycombe weren’t hoofing it we were. For the first 10 minutes we were moving the ball sweetly and quite frankly should have scored at least once if not twice. The first goal was down to pissing around at the back, the second to allowing their player to run 80 yards down the right unchallenged. Barton is starting to become unhinged, his ‘revolutionary’ style of play is too wide open leaving players at the back struggling to deal with overloads down the sides. Instead of excuses and strange confrontations with players he should be learning the lessons and adjusting his tactics to recognise that his stock in trade of bust a gut running is not the answer. "
On Wanderers’ football, which has seen the Chairboys take maximum points from the Gas this season, Barton added: “ They’ve beaten us twice but I don’t think, if you watch them play, I wouldn’t want to play like that - it’s horrendous football, you just boot it

I think Barton simply has to manage MK at some point. It's the perfect match.
Great spell of play involving 8 of our players

Barton’s comments are a disgrace.
What game was he watching.

He’s (allegedly) beaten his wife more times than he’s beaten us in his career, yet still wants to get on his high horse. Despicable man.
How many times has he punched the horse?
I seriously believe our club should be asking the EFL/FA whether Barton’s comments constitute bringing the game into disrepute.
We really are living rent free in his head.
Barton may be an almighty cockwomble, but I don't think chatting shit about a team's style constitutes bringing the game into disrepute.

Long may it continue!
Spot on

Just rise above it @glasshalffull he is not actually worth a sentence.

I get my satisfaction from the fact we have done the double over his team. We have also got a real decent chap as our manager.

We are in danger of getting a little obsessed by the inconsequential ramblings of a mid table manager.
Ignore him. We won the game. Now focus on the next one
I make Barton’s record v Wycombe 1 win from 8. Prick.
I agree. There are plenty of their own supporters willing to sort him out.
I think a lot of this forum are falling for his bait. Just ignore him.
If his comments about the way we play bring the game into disrepute, most EFL managers would be servings bans!
'We knew what we were going to get with Wycombe...then we didn't get it...'
FA Rule E3: ‘The following types of public media comments may be considered in breach of Rule E3. Comments which are improper, bring the game into disrepute, threatening, abusive, indecent or insulting.’
I think Joey's comments fall into the "Utterly deluded b*llocks" category, so technically not in breach of rule E3.
Utterly deluded bullocks? I thought that was Oxford.
Barton could just say "we were well beaten, we're well under them in the table despite having a bigger crowd and being a city club".
But that's clearly not going to do him any favours with his club or fans, so it's much easier to play a mixture of deflection and excuse making.
Moaning about their own pitch is pretty pathetic. Who's fault is that!?
But the general MO of "we play the right way, moral winners" has to stop.
If he hadn't said the beaten us twice bit, you'd have assumed the quote was from earlier in the season.
He cannot possibly think we were just "booting it" on Tuesday, when we didn't even have a target man like usual.
Especially not as they had an absolute agricultural lank pot up front who got on the end of numerous high and long balls.
