The ‘wouldn’t want to watch that every week’ brigade are nearly always fans of teams who have been beaten by us. If it’s a ‘big’ club then an unhealthy shake of salt is applied too.
I know we apparently “know what we are”, but I personally think we’ve reigned in the time wasting lark a lot this season. Apologies if mistaken, but I’m sure in the recent 2-0 win over the Pluckies, only +3 came up on the board.
There's no question that we do look to score more goals now rather than sit on leads. We've always been good at scoring late winners under Ainsworth, but now our late goals tend to be more to extend our lead. Quite a few of our wins this season have been by more than 1 goal, which used to be quite rare a couple of years back. Probably Oxford away and Ipswich home are examples of old fashioned hanging on, backs to the walls victories from this season. Mostly we've looked to add to our lead rather than just protect what we have. Again, part of the season by season evolution under Ainsworth.
Allsop received 11 yellows and a red in three seasons with us and he wasn't always first choice. Most yellows probably as a result of defective shoelaces.
Those will be the same shoelaces that Stocko inherited. So far Max has only used one of them which he was clearly protecting after Derby’s second goal last week 😀
For anyone who reads When Saturday Comes, the new issue's Match of the Month feature is Burton v Oxford in which there's the telling line "Oxford have often failed to make the technical quality in their squad tell on the scoreboard" as well as mention of them getting "a schooling" from us a few days beforehand. We're described as "streetwise".
Their fans can rage and bleat all they like about our anti-football (whatever the hell that is) and their wonderful classy style of play (seen little evidence for it beyond constant aimless short passes in their own half) but only one set of fans is demanding the manager be sacked; only one set of fans are looking forward to possible play-off fun. I know which I'd rather watch every week.
Spot on @MindlessDrugHoover. It's very ironic that opposition fans always use that tired line about not wanting to watch it every week after we have beaten their side. Winning is fun to watch!

Wan't McLeary sent off early on for an off-the-ball thing on his marker in an away match a few months ago?
Yeah, it was McCleary at Fleetwood. And JJ retrospectively, although I guess it hasn't been recorded as a 'proper' red card.
G Mac was sent off at Fleetwood.

Didn't Taff get sent off this season? Did I imagine that?
Matt Bloomfield used to dive an awful lot, and he was really bad at it.
Alex Samuel was fond of a little tumble as well

Even injury time mocks their stadium.
If you take out all our keepers bookings for blatant shithousery over the years, it must be very low.

I don't remember Max or Stocko getting many yellows at all.
Max has already got 4, as many as Stocko in his entire second spell
But he’s safe from suspension at this stage of the season if he gets a fifth yellow, I assume.

GMac at Fleetwood oops sorry answered without reading down the thread - sorry!
I guess the opposition fans are correct - why would they want to see their team turned over by us every week?
