That is rubbish @ReturnToSenda and not like you at all. We are not that team anymore and we really don’t need to be, as we have some proper footballers in the team and we can and do play some lovely stuff.
Yes we do know how to defend a lead but that is part and parcel of good organisation and there are quite a lot of teams who would love to be that organised.
We're still pretty much the most fast and direct team in the league, but our approach has become noticeably more 'refined' this season imo. I'd always rather watch a more possession-based style - that's just personal preference - but it's rarely hoof-ball anymore, which it was to a nauseating degree earlier in the season.
Karl Robinson against us is the absolute epitome of this. Every time he says that he knows what to expect from Wycombe, every time his team plays exactly the same way, and every time he gets beat, often without scoring. Followed then by exactly the same post match interview. A Wycombe win against a Karl Robinson team is the easiest money you'll ever make.
We haven’t had many of those type of players in recent years either. Scowen is 100% committed but not in a cynical way. El Abd, Murphy, Josh Knight might all have had a bit of an edge to them. Can’t think of many others.
The word that to me always describes GA's Wycombe teams more perfectly than any other is "tenacious". Nipping at heels, jostling, crowding out, flashing onto the second ball, etc. That tenacity gets mistaken (or more accurately, deliberately misrepresented) as being dirty by fans of teams we have outfought and outmuscled.

It was a joke... As is the chant. It's just a bit of fun!

I certainly read both as a joke.
The longer oppo fans and more importantly management remain under the delusion we are hoof ball and set up accordingly the better.
A ‘nauseating degree’ is somewhat over the top.
Maybe but it certainly doesn’t do us justice.
I loved our 'backs to the wall' style lumping it to Bayo up front. It was niche.
That was pretty fun actually, but that was down to the uniqueness of Bayo.
Our reputation for being direct, niggly and nothing else is going to help us get promoted this season
It's beyond me how Gaz continues to be able to play all these opposition managers like a fiddle and they haven't wised up to it. The bloke's a genius

Don't let Karl see this (explanation here, but I'm just enjoying the disparity)
Before the match: we have to be prepared for Wycombe's 'physical' style and play our own way
After the match: we controlled two thirds of the game/pitch but failed to be clinical in front of goal.
They know what's coming and can't stop it.
Fans: wouldn't want to watch that every week (= wouldn't want to watch my team play Wycombe every week)
Agreed. Watching Wycombe is great at the moment. It won't last forever
“Fans: wouldn't want to watch that every week (= wouldn't want to watch my team play Wycombe every week)”
A perfect explanation of this expression. It sounds like an insult and is often intended as one but is actually a sign of respect.
I think we'll catch Al-Ittihad, but then I am giddy with the momentum.
Kyoto Sanga, forever in our shadow.
"We're the 837th greatest team, the world has ever seen."
Superb 🤣🤣

The way some opposition fans go on, you'd think we were a dirtier more physical version of the dreaded Crazy Gang.
Instead we field players like Obita, McCleary, Mehmeti when here, Horgan similar, Wing, Jj, Grimmer, McCarthy.
Mawson pre retirement a rolls Royce ball playing centre back etc.
You can't tell me any of those players are anywhere near dirty cynical players or any more physical than any other competitive footballer should be?

O’Nien would push the boundaries.
People probably look at Vokes and Taf and assume they are brusiers but its not the case.
That's an understatement, he's always had a dirty streak

Our disciplinary record is never particularly high up the league dirt bag standings either is it?
We're about mid-table at the moment. Trying to remember who got sent off this season without looking - it says we've had one red.
Don’t worry. I was at work with a few Derby fans today. We don’t even come close to Lincoln City when it comes to time wasting.
When thinking of players who committed themselves to the level that only their own fans liked them I miss Doc/O'Doherty
@ReturnToSenda JJ retrospectively against Forest Green when (I think) Grimmer was sent off wrongly
