The Stowmarket press release says: "He played a key role in leading Wycombe Wanderers to promotion to EFL League 1 in the 08/09 season...". He played 12 games at right back, January to April, on loan from Ipswich.
I remember Roger Casement, “the father of twentieth century human rights investigations” hanged for treason in 1916, but it seems Chris failed to make any kind of impression on me (or not an indelible one, anyway).
February 2009 was remarkable insofar as snow and freezing conditions caused several postponements and, incredibly, only one home game was played that month. It was a 0-0 draw with Rotherham, shown on Sky, so I might well have dropped off. Peter Taylor was in charge as he was of course when we played our last home game of the season - a dreadful 1-2 defeat by Notts County - with promotion hanging on a thread and depending on the result of another match. I remember waiting behind long after even our match had finished to discover that the other result had gone our way.
If February 2009 was disappointing with one nil-nil home game, March was pretty desperate. Five home games. One win, one defeat and three 1-1 draws. Peter Taylor to a T.
I think I can understand now how Chris Casement slipped my memory.
But must admit I have zero memory of a Chris Casement playing for us.
Like others I have tried to wipe the memory of the latter part of that season. (But not as successfully as others. Coincidentally my sister was asking me Saturday if she was at that promotion game against Notts County. She had virtually no recollection of it at all until I reminded her of one of the most depressing 5 minutes or so I’ve ever spent watching Wycombe)
According to some bloke on Twitter, he was used largely as a CB this season prior to being suspended. Last night they used him in CM. I wonder what he classes as his natural position now. He’s certainly shown his versatility since joining them.
See that Stevenage made 4 subs at half time last night, but Horgan remained on the bench unused.
5 league games he's been there for now, on the bench every time. Twice brought on after 60 mins, once in injury time and twice left on the bench. 1 win, 3 draws and 1 loss for a team pushing for promotion, so it's not like the players in front of him have been undroppable.
Might have ended up with more game time if he'd stayed at Wycombe, if the option was available.
It’s certainly been an odd move from Stevenage’s perspective, unless we’re paying a big chunk of the wages and they thought they were getting a star for cheap.
He must be on a fair wedge given his career history, so it seems very strange to sign him only to plonk him on the bench like he was with us (well, he often didn’t even make the squad).
I get that a team on a promotion push needs strength in depth, but he just seems too expensive to sign as a squad player.
I think I’ve blotted the 3-0 Pizza Cup embarrassment vs Stevenage from memory, but did Horgan have a blinder that night? He did start at least…I’m just thinking that Evans would have had limited chances to see DH even play competitive football before signing him.
Probably sounded like a great deal. We presumably pay a sizeable chunk of the wages, and they get a starting international winger.
But in reality he's not a winger at all, and if anything is a sort of hard working defensive midfielder who plays quite far forward?! Hard to categorise.

Chris Casement is the new manager of Stowmarket Town, where he has been a player since September 2020.
Never ‘eard of ‘im. Probably should of !!
He played for us in 2009, the same year he made his Northern Ireland debut

I think that’s stretching it, he was cover when we had a key injury and then dropped at the end of his loan
He probably wrote the press release? lol

There was very little joy that afternoon !

I knew you were old @micra but didn’t realise you were THAT old…

Luke O'Nien gets his first Championship goal against QPR in a 3-0 win.
Josh Parker wins National League South Player of the Month. 5 goals helping our old sparring partners Oxford City into the play-offs.

Luke O'Nien has made over 200 total appearances for Sunderland - how time flies!

Anis makes his first start for Bristol City tonight.
That might have just persuaded me to watch that one

Anis with the assist for City’s opener.
The Bristol City fans are in raptures over the cross too - variations on "absolute filth".
I’d say so

A perfect pitching wedge there with hardly any backlift!
That’s an incredible cross, especially for someone making their debut start.
Sunderland v Bristol City today.
Luke O'Nien on the bench but Anis Mehmeti gets another start.
AAH has scored for Wimbledon. Really pleased for him.
Al-Hamadi scores for AFC Wimbledon.
Mehmeti hits the post and is running the Sunderland RB ragged, evidently.
