I still think his form needs to improve to how he was 5 or 6 games ago, he needs to know when to release the ball and pass instead of trying to beat too many players and then loosing the ball, the fee would then be closer to 5 or 6 million
I think we are all being a bit optimistic regarding Anis’s valuation (me included). I think the Couhigs would let him go for much less than we all value him at.
Two boxes of fireworks and a lorry load of tarmac for the mythical new road.
All these figures are assuming he doesn't have a release clause. In any case, I'd be amazed if we got more than £3m - which would still be a club record.
That comment got you a few dissenters, but I agree to a point. Not sure he's a definite starter in the championship right now, and especially not for silly money.
The fear is if clubs are looking to wait to the summer to come in with much lower bids than even you've suggested above, knowing we'll have to sell.
There’s absolutely no denying, @Malone, that Anis has lost his edge over the last few games, but I think his contract is until June 2024 and if, as a result perhaps of using him in a more consistently advanced position, with Curtis and Josh in midfield making it less important for Anis to do as much tracking back, he could quite conceivably be a key player in getting us to the playoffs and, hopefully, beyond. He might well then want to move on to bigger things but we might then be thinking of a Scott Twine level transfer fee.
It is too easy to double up on Anis to suffocate him, as we are not dynamic enough in other attacking areas currently to punish the defensive focus on him. He is in a sense being penalized for our ponderous forward play.
I think he would be playing better further up the food chain with other quality players who all merit similar respect.
Am I? 😂 I only really pick up on transfer fees at the top level tbh. I don't think a couple of million is optimistic for Anis, but we probably won't have much leverage - so hopefully, there's a healthy release clause.
He’s playing tier 3 football. He needs to learn what to do when teams double up on him or else the transition to tier 2 won’t happen. But he’s shown over and over he’s a learner. He’s improved physically and tactically constantly. I think this latest ‘dip’ is just a thinking moment for him. He will learn. He’s got go teachers around him. And then we cash in. We cash in big.
He is, but the debate is about how big the fee will be.
I think some people thought we'd be seeing off bids the second the window opened. Maybe we have, but I think we're pretty likely to hold him until the summer.
I was one expecting him to go in January. I have since changed my mind given the lack of rumours. I’d love to get another six months out of Anis but I hope it’s not to the detriment of the fee (running down his contract). Still a long way to go in the window though.
My point was that if he passes out of a double team, we are not dynamic enough to make it count. He can't be expected to beat half of the opposing team every dribble. Opposing teams can basically overcommit to keeping him quiet.
Also, Anis played well for an ultimately relegated side in the second tier two seasons of development ago. The question is not whether he is Championship quality - it's whether he gets into a PL squad (hence the Fulham scouts).
Comments
Mehmeti is quite clearly ready for the Championship, and I would only be entertaining offers nearer 2M than 1.
Wouldn't mind Alfie May though.
If MK got 4M for Twine we should be looking for the same for Anis
I also wouldn't mind May
I wouldn’t say Mehmeti is at Twine’s level yet.

Alfie May…good shout
What is our transfer record? £1.x million for Ibe?
I guess it depends on if you include the sell-on money.
I thought it was Phillips
The Ibe money came by way of a sell-on clause.
I think the most we've ever received in a transfer fee at the time is either Tyson or Ikpeazu.
We don't know for sure though because the club always keep it secret from us, along with who's injured and what's the matter with them.
Ok, he only went for 325k
I thought it was Ikpeazu

An awful lot of ‘might’ there !!
It seems quite optimistic people are talking in the millions doesn't it?
Are there many comparable figures we can look at?
@ReturnToSenda is usually the man for this sort of thing, and of course we have to ignore what the release clause may or not be etc

Thought you might have a few examples of fees beyond £1m for third tier mids. People need to factor that in when talking silly money.
Especially if it's in the summer with 1 year left.
Chances are we won't hear the fee anyway!
I can't think of any recent ones off the top of my head other than Twine
Dele Alli from MK to Spurs for £5m in 2015 might be a third tier record
18 year old wonderkid, and a guy scoring 20 playing up front for the season.
Matt Grimes went for £1.75m from 4th tier Exeter 8 years ago.
Ibe at 15/16 850k or so straight to Liverpool, and then maybe the same again in sell on fee?

Ah come on no offence but Anis is easily championship standard right now

He would have even more impressive numbers in a better footballing team, but thankfully the analytics will take that into account.
