I thought he left partly because they loved him at port vale and he wasn't particularly popular here, but seem to remember they got in first with a contract offer for him to return, everyone assumed Ainsworth would repave him anyway and we never found out.
My imagination apparently, almost as embarrassing as the typo above, hard to imagine Ainsworth having to repave anyone or anything however opposition fans may suggest it.
Think it may have been a coach or manager he'd worked before when at Cheltenham but just as likely to have confused him with someone else entirely.
I spent the afternoon with one of our ex players Steve Dell who played for us under sanchez and adams,he's a mate of my friend who drinks in The Wookey Hole Club in Somerset he was a lovely fella who is now a policeman in The Met since 2009,fuck me he's become the size of Bayo all muscle but a nicer man you'll never meet it really made my day having a pint with him,he said he loved Sanchez but Adams was a prick which is a fair assessment.
Sido Jombati an 89th minute substitute for Ebbsfleet in their FA Cup match against Fleetwood. An interesting ground. On the day, they had those flashing advertising boards within a couple of yards of the touchline (or so it appeared).
Lovely guy. A quirky one-off. Always surprised me how tall he was when I saw him off the pitch. Including that remarkable head of hair, must have been at least 6’3”.
Scurrilous if not libellous comments, gentlemen !! (I assume men but @Malone, the Gasroom mystery man, never did come and tap me on the shoulder, as invited, when I was a permanent fixture in the Frank Adams stand so how can I be sure.)
When it comes to footballers, height is clearly a key factor in particular positions, most obviously goalkeeper, central defence and for the likes of Sam Vokes. In midfield of course, witness our three tireless terriers (now you see them, now you don’t) height is a much less important consideration.
I very occasionally refer (but nothing like as frequently as @Malone implies) to a player’s height (though rarely if ever about a midfielder) for the very good reason that height is such an important aspect of a footballer’s physique. It is no coincidence that Wikipedia includes the height of virtually every professional footballer.
I think your use of the word "occasionally" in relation to your "interest" in height, would be about as accurate as us saying "occasionally" Wycombe knock a long ball.
@Malone :: much as I admire you, you seem obsessed with the notion that I’m obsessed with players’ heights. I’ve asked you recently to quote examples but none have been forthcoming.
You had to challenge me, so I had to dig a few recents out.
However, I take your point oldest son, so we can move it along from this now😀

No doubt Joseff Morrell, the diminutive Welsh midfielder (5’6” @Malone!), will feature for Portsmouth on Sunday. He has played about 30 times for Wales including this evening’s second half substitute appearance.
Height is so important. It’s one reason (amongst several) why, for all my admiration of Anthony Stewart as a dependable defender and as a very likeable person, I was super confident (to use @Malone style terminology) that, provided he stayed fit, Forino would be a more than adequate replacement.
For a relatively short guy, Jack Young seems to have an extraordinarily wide wingspan.
Appreciate you taking my point @Malone about the relevance of my references to footballers’ height - the only context in which I make such references.
As you’ve acknowledged previously, I’m very much a detail man. I try to paint pictures with words (and sometimes figures/statistics) to describe particular players. I think three of the examples you have quoted bear witness to that. The one about Forino reflects very accurately the comparison with Anthony Stewart and I was also prescient in qualifying my judgment with the proviso about the need for him to stay fit. Sadly, his vulnerability in that respect has continued to be a worry.
The last example was based on one of those squad pictures in which players have their arms across each other’s shoulders. I made a joke (not a particularly good one, perhaps) based on the optical illusion that Jack Young’s arms were impossibly long.
Repeatedly implying that I have some kind of perverse fascination with men’s height in general is not funny. I’ve played along with it in the past but enough is enough.

Is he on his way from misery to happiness?
A ha!

Where did the Vale love come from when he hadn't played for them before?

Have some family that way, and wondered about a trip down there to see Jombati play.
But not sure I can quite work it in, and as he's in and out of the side, perhaps this season is his swansong?
Top guy, I remember thinking I was hallucinating out on a walk seeing him near Kingsmead park once. Stopped and had a very quick chat. Lovely.

There I go again !
You like your men tall. Wonder if there's a word for it.
More importantly, does he also like his women tall?

No need to explain bossman, always meant as a running theme of mere joshing.
But it's probably ridden its course now.
Fainites !!
Haven't heard that phrase in about 20 years. 😀
