Christie Ward came from Hampshire down near Dobbo’s home, playing in an southern elite academy and mens none league at 18.
When we signed him I reported that I had been informed that he was a real star for the future and would have been in a Premier League academy had he not had some health issues in his earlier teens. One of those ‘hidden gems’ we are so good at rooting out potentially?
We have been fortunate with the co-comms to go with the gold standard of @bluntphil. Bill Turnbull will always be iconic, but we have also had Brian, Toby, Alicia Povey (who I personally miss), and some great player comms like Nick Freeman, Darius Charles and so forth. Not only that, but the odd Gasroomer, like @Jonny_King and @ReturnToSenda.
Okay, enough name dropping - I just want to say that I would love to hear Bayo on co-comms!
While we're talking co-comms I want to register some praise for Toby (Large?) who is really impressive. Good knowledge of the game, complements Phil well, is eloquent, always has something intelligent to say, doesn't try to hog the comms and has a fantastic range of emotion in his voice that suggests he's had professional training (there's nothing worse than someone on co-comms who sounds like a robot). Keep up the good work.
Agree entirely. In a profession usually driven by cliches, Phil avoids them entirely while being excellent at both the flow of the game and wry observational humour.
I'll never forget another fanbase (Middlebrough?) being stuck with our commentary, and someone asking if they could sign Phil away as he was so much better than theirs.
Phil has the ability (all too rare in football broadcasting) to find the funny side without straying into either novelty or the horror of banter. Plus there’s absolutely no pomposity.
He’s our own Colin Murray (which is high praise in my book).
One of my favourite co-commentators was Scott McGleish. His style worked perfectly alongside Phil and I really hope we can get him back for at least one more match this season.
If we can keep hold of him next season, potential captain material? Unfortunately (for us) I think he will be heading to the Championship sooner rather than later.
I'll go out on a limb here and say he will be sold for more than Anis. The rate he is learning is incredible. Each game he appears to be a better player than the last. And this is the kind of thing that big teams look for when investing further down the pyramid.
I was actually referring purely to Chris Forino’s excellent performance as a Co-commentator. Maybe no-one else heard him. I should have added “…..whilst injured and sitting alongside Phil in the commentary box.”

Wycombe should invite Alan Swann for full on hospitality for a game, win him round
Good to have @BrianJeeves68 back on co-comms duty. Always enjoy his knowledge and insight.
Jack Young very busy (and there have been glimpses of his undoubted potential).
Adam Leathers struggling to get involved..
Stryjek, Grimmer and Forino (surprise, surprise) the pick of the bunch.
Forino obviously watched the Lionesses during the Euros. Clever backheel.
Just a few random thoughts.
Big fan of Kaikai’s corner deliveries
Thank you 🙏 Appreciate it #Chairboys
Agreed re @BrianJeeves68. Him and @bluntphil are the dream ticket at the moment, would be great to get Brian and Phil together for some league games.

I think they're all good as it goes. I think it's one of those things you don't realise how hard it is until you've tried it.
Phil is absolutely superb, by any measure. He could easily be doing that for five live etc
@Jonny_King gave it his best shit

Phil makes me laugh out loud at least once per game, though it's been a bit too long since we've had one of his classic puns around player names.
Phil somehow manages to bring a test match special vibe, which you’d think would be impossible commentating on football.

I’ll second that emotion
Om not going to lie.... when i turned the radio on after work.... for a confusing minute or two I thought.... is that Harry Rednap?!! 😅😅
Completely echo this. Toby is outstanding.
🤣🤣🤣 I'm from Sarfend, not East London. Let's not talk about my beloved Shrimpers. It's not going well!
Let’s not forget how good Chris Forino was on, I think, just one match last season whilst injured.
i seem to recall that Phil thought he was so good that he felt his job was under threat !! Intelligent, articulate and a very pleasant voice.
Hope Chris won’t be in a position to co-commentate for a very long time.
Chris was mustard on Tuesday evening. Really good performance! Smashing footballer.
He seems at times to be controlling the whole of the right hand side of the pitch !

Defenders never fetch as much as exciting forwards, but you could be right @TheAndyGrahamFanClub - he's turning into one hell of a player.
And then before kick off accidentally lock him in one of the portaloos and see if he likes smelling what he writes.

Corrr Swanny really does have an obsession with us doesn't he?
