I have to be careful re Taf because he seems to attract considerable protection on the Gasroom. Given his ‘body as temple’ lifestyle showcased on his YouTube channel he does seem vulnerable to knocks and niggles. Not that his playing style has a Thomo like robustness. So, does he overtrain or just is unlucky? Or (whisper it) a bit of a fragile show pony …….
Not sure that's particularly fair. I don't think his lifestyle could have protected him from the clash with Gape, unless there's a particular brand of fancy bottled water that strengthens your ribs
He is an excellent player at this level and with Taf, Alfie and Chris, we have three excellent centre backs. With those three backed up by JJ, Obita, McCarthy and Grimmer we have a good defensive unit.
Maybe add someone like Hamer from Burton in the January window, who is very versatile and can play all along the defensive line and also has a very good long throw.
Taff is rarely criticised for his play, more his absences which I agree are unfair considering he had that *****, and then the *****, and he barely recovered from **** before injuring his *****.
Criticism of Horgan is largely as he never scores or assists. But purists rightly argue back that he creates space and we don’t have hardly anyone in the squad capable of that.
Perhaps he is very invested in that lifestyle because he knows he is injury prone? In a previous era he might have been the sort of player forced to retire in his 20s. Who knows.
If we get the chance and the right person becomes available at the right price, then it would be wise to improve if we can. Someone like Hamer is not just a ‘for now’ player but one for the future as well.
My MOTO is don’t stand still. I agree we have a very good squad though. 👍
you have omitted the breach of the club injury omerta by @glasshalffull on Jack Young, to the effect that Young was injured, in an unspecified way, for an unspecified amount of time, but the likes of us weren't allowed to know. I'm sure that even now, Matt Cecil is arranging delivery of the horse's head.
Tafazolli has been benching 34kg dumb bells today and is visibly in pain. Constantly holding his rib. Won’t be back particularly soon by looks of things.
@glasshalfempty Curtis is now on 'outside training', running around with the lads - according to GA. Whilst it doesn't change anything in your statement on him, it's at least a sign of progress after all this time...

POTD, @micra
Good to see Curtis in the Gym in Taff’s video

Apart from maybe Horgan, I’d argue that Taff is our most unfairly criticized player!

I think a lot of fans are jealous because Taf is so handsome
He's also an exceptionally good footballer
Taffs is fantastic, and is also remarkably consistent.

I think Mawson may have preempted him - certainly in the throwing- in stakes.

Not sure we need extra cover at the back. Any additions could be led by the sale of Anis or injuries, either way the squad is good enough at present

Aye, He's also the only player subjected to rumours of wild nights at the RBL in Flackwell.

Wheeler back on the bench tonight for Pizza cup game, Hanlan and Mellor both starting
Presume that TJ and Ali must be the latest injuries
Yep let's not dare delve into the Horgan locker again!
Here's the latest injury situation, as far as I know, based on info made publicly available. Feel free to correct, etc...
Just the four players out.
Dominic Gape - has missed the last three-and-a-half weeks with an unspecified injury (possibly hamstring) - no timescale on a return
Ryan Tafazolli - has missed the last five-and-a-half weeks with a fractured rib - no timescale on a return
Josh Scowen - has missed the last seven weeks with a medial knee ligament injury - possible return on 04/12/2022 - Portsmouth (H)
Curtis Thompson - has missed more than 36 weeks (eight months) with an unspecified injury (possibly ACL ) - not expected back until 2023.

Hope I haven't made too much of a foal of myself and opened myself up to accusations of making it up on the hoof.
Neigh, I think you are spot on in the mane.

Did he reinjure himself during the Walsall game? I was not able to watch.

We could possibly have just the one absentee.
Chris Forino-Joseph - substituted at HT v Port Vale with a knock - expected to be fit for tomorrow
Garath McCleary - missed the F.A. Cup first round defeat to Walsall with a knock - expected to be fit for tomorrow
Dominic Gape - has missed five weeks with an unspecified injury (possibly hamstring) - could return tomorrow
Josh Scowen - has missed the nine weeks with a medial knee ligament injury - could return tomorrow
Curtis Thompson - has missed 38 weeks (nine months) with an unspecified injury (possibly ACL ) - not expected back until 2023.

Suddenly not too bad.
Just need the football to improve now and give everyone a lift on that side of things!
Scowen being in the squad would be huge.
Big step that is. Might still be say 6-8 weeks off, but it's a major landmark.
Does this thread need reviving now McCleary's out too?
Gareth McCleary - Last played 18th March, missed the last 1 week - pictured on crutches so presumably long term
Sam Vokes - Last played 11th March, missed the last 2 weeks
Jordan Obita - Last played 25th February, missed the last 4 weeks
Curtis Thompson - Last appeared on bench 18th February, missed the last 5 weeks
Dominic Gape - Last played 17th December, missed the last 14 weeks
Hopefully Obita and Vokes are both back sooner rather than later.
Crutches aren't always mid to long term are they?
There's definitely been more precautionary stuff where a player is on them temporarily?
Obviously the chance of that at Wycombe is miniscule and most likely we put them in the Gape/Thompson hopefully see you next season locker?
I thought it was telling that club did a get well soon tweet for GMac. I can't recall them doing that when it's not been a season-ender.
