Hence him training with us rather than signing for anyone or being in the thoughts of the people who employed him. He'll have to demonstrate his fitness and earn a place in the squad like Darius did
I'd be reluctant to have Mawson take a spot. When you combine how many games Tafazolli tends to miss with how many Mawson would likely miss, you're seeing possibilities of 5+ game spells where Forino is our most experienced centre half available for selection. That's simply unacceptable in our current position in the football world.
Big names are always a bit of a thrill, but for every Vokes there's a (forgets name of the guy who played in mid in the Prem for Reading who came here and looked utterly pony), or Neil Lennon.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the big signing. I love a left field unheard of gem. Mawson was a head scratcher. Thompson from Notts County reserves, what are we playing at? Plus some good youngsters from U23 football. It just gets harder now especially with the Premiership developing players for revenue and having to compete with everyone as there are so few unknowns.
I guess you wouldn’t be insured so if you sign them on a 1 year deal and they breakdown in preseason and can’t play again you are on the hook for their wages.
But conversely you could do a contract with the player that reflects that. Which is closer to the pay as you play of course.
Some clubs do have a big injury release clause in their contracts so that if the situation happens above, the club have a pre-arranged fee to pay to release the player
Amari Miller would be a decent loan signing. Currently playing in Leeds’ U23 side. Watching clips of him, he reminds me a bit of Eze. We’re blessed with attacking players but would certainly provide even more competition.
Interesting - they poached him from BCFC and he's contracted until 2025. Clearly highly rated. Not one I know much about, but nice to see a realistic option on this thread for once!
Daniel Jebbison on loan could work for all parties, a step up from Burton last season (if we're aiming to build from last season) and would suit our style. Need 3 starting forwards, him Vokes and Hanlan would match our ambitions

You say that, and I get there is a difference between them, but wasn't Kashkett(?) on a fairly basic minimum plus a pay per play bonus at some point?
Any contract could be the right contract, it all depends on the player/club circumstances.
No idea tbh, but a basic minimum is still better than straight PAYP.
I hope Mawson can prove his fitness and crack on with his career in the Championship.

There are some great free transfers this summer.
C.Austin, A.Carroll, Mawson, B.Foster, H.Lansbury, R. Snodgrass, R.Morrison, C.Kazim-Richards to name a few.
I feel anxious and excited by this summers business
‘Realistic’
Are you telling me Dybala isn't on his way?
Mornington Crescent!!!
sorry

I'm with @TheAndyGrahamFanClub - much prefer signing a hidden gem to a big name.
I would be surprised if Darius Charles passed a medical before we signed him?
Can you sign someone who doesn’t pass a medical?

George Harmon from Oxford City has joined Ross County. There must be more gems in non league football for us to get our mits on!
Joe Jacobson had signed on for another season (at least!)
Boo! Ajiboye has signed for Peterborough, shame would have been a good fit.

edit: how’s this for a peach of a goal.

Watching Gaz's WTV interview and he's hopeful of getting new no1 in by end of week

Tom Eaves?
John Marquis?
Scott Sinclair?
Conor Wickham?
All may make do with sitting on the bench?
I’d be happy with Tom Eaves or Scott Sinclair!
NTT20 predicted last season that Scott Sinclair would end up at Wycombe - although we're kind of stacked for wingers!
I quite like Eaves - Marquis seems like a right prick, though, not sure he'd pass the character test
Dom Telford has gone to Crawley?! Scored 25 for Newport last season

I imagine he'll be in Sheffield United's first-team plans next season (plus how likely are they to loan us anyone given the history with Ainsworth?)
Eaves has gone to Rotherham.
On a side note: when do we find out Player Of the Season?
