We could really do with a win today. We’ve had some great performances which show we will be a great side this season. Now we need the other bit. Points on the table. Come on Wycombe.
What do people anticipate we will do in defence tonight?
Joe Low suspended. Forino ‘knock’. Tafa lacking minutes. Skura hasn’t had a league start yet. Wheeler ill. JJ, McCarthy, Grimmer, KVY all out injured. Haven’t played a back four all season. Keogh surely too slow to play in a wider centre back role. Tafazolli’s right foot surely too weak to play on the right side.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a back three of Leahy, Keogh/Tafa and Skura.
Edit - could be perceived as too brave to try and start Skura next door to Pattenden on the right flank. If Wheeler is back that might make it a bit more palatable for MB to go with Skura by neighbouring him with vast experience.
GasmanCOTN publicised it. A lot of the stats sites missed his yellow for dissent against Bristol Rovers apparently. Doubt the club want to announce that he’s suspended hoping the opposition don’t research it adequately.
Taf is experienced enough to play one game as the right sided player.
Remember other seasons how we'd been exposed in centre defence? We've got all those players out, and can still field Taf-Keogh and Leahy. That's not a bad position to be in.
Does anyone know when any of the right wing back crew are back? Not heard anything about KVY. He just suddenly disappeared without a word.
Can Keogh play 270+ minutes in eight days? We could be a bit hamstrung tonight.
@Malone as far as I perceive it, MB has been relatively open when it comes to ‘soon-returners’. He announced Wheeler was a week or two away and has acted similarly for other players. On that basis, I’d imagine we are at least three/four games away from seeing those players returning
Pattenden would've been replaced by Wheeler on Saturday had he not been feeling ill. If he's sufficiently recovered, he will be in for Jasper tonight. With the FA Cup and then the Pizza game coming up, now would be a good time for Jasper to take a step back, recover, look at the work he's put in recently, reflect with the coaching staff, and then get prepared to go again...

Would happily take a leak-free 1-0 win with no nerves jangled on Halloween.
If the winning goal has echoes of the Harriman screamer in 2015’s corresponding fixture then even better.
(We won’t talk about Garry Thompson’s pen though…).

One of the worst badges in all the 92. Poor Cambridge.
You’ve got to imagine that approximately 95% of those badges in existence have been graffitied to spell something unpleasant.

Hadn't realised the JLow was suspended, that's spoilt my afternoon somewhat.
It's not mentioned on the club preview https://www.wwfc.com/news/2023/october/30/the-big-match-preview-wycombe-vs-cambridge/.
I'm sure the FA or EFL used to publish a list of current suspensions but I can't find it now.

Barely a whisper about JJ too.

There was something about "working out how to re-integrate players", so i had hoped a few like KVY/JJ/Grimmer might be in that boat.
It is quite mad to have 3 players who can play right wing back all out together.
Nice for Pattenden to have a long run like this, but signs in the last few games are that he's been getting a bit of a going over at times.
Cambridge United have a new badge coming

To be fair on Cambridge's badge, it never fails to provide at least some amusement if you speak Portuguese.
I quite like the new one!
Grimmer is on Comms tonight if you are missing him, you can always tune in

Thank goodness Northampton Town didn’t design their badge in the same fashion, the Cambridge scoreboard would be utter filth.
Hang on a minute... GMac as a wing-back?
That’s a lot of attackers.
Hmmm. Interesting. Switch in formation or someone odd playing left wing back.
Maybe Vokes is playing centre back and Leahy at left wing back?
More likely 3-4-3
And Keogh as an outside CB? Please no.
Where’s Scowen?
Suspended
I think?
4-4-2
pattenden keogh tafa leahy
McCleary Potts Philips Hanlan
Vokes Taylor
no idea. Very odd to leave Boyes out
Wasn’t it one game for five yellows?
Scowen must have injured himself signing a new deal 😬😳
Yeah - sorry, I thought he got his fifth v Oxford. Must be injured.
Kaikai on the bench for Cambridge
