Odds have been removed at Gillingham with Mark Bonner the favourite. Possibly only one realistic EFL job (Stevenage) for GA now if he wants one over the summer.
On a personal note I would have GA back in a heartbeat.
I'm not undermining anything Bloomfield has done, and it was a fantastic end to the season (albeit when there was very little left to play for)
Direct football is awful, IF you are losing, if you are winning then the ends justify the means. Sticking it to big teams was fantastic under GA.
Ainsworth at Wycombe was a winner. At QPR he wasn't. I don't know QPR's selection process for managers or their internal politics and I wouldn't care to defend Ainsworth regarding his time at QPR as he was not then our manager to defend.
Cifuentes seems to be the exception rather than the rule in terms of getting a tune out of that squad.
One thing I would say, is that I would not like to come up against a well drilled Ainsworth side in League one if he were to get another job in our division.
I love GA, but I think Blooms has earned the right to keep building. Not only that, but these are mostly Blooms' players now, which would be even more the case if we have to replace Forino and GMac. I think it is okay to reverence GA whilst moving on.
I would not be opposed to GA being our version of Fergie or McCann, who we bring in to steady the ship once in a while when Blooms leaves for PL Ipswich in 5 years, and then later on JJ leaves for Cardiff. I just don't think that having gone through a painful transition - initiated by QPR and GA - that included missing out on the playoffs, and having finally shown signs of coming out the other side, going back to GA and starting a whole new transition - including kicking the current L1 Manager of the Month to the curb - makes me beyond queasy.
Ultimately, GA wanted to leave us. MB left another job to come back to us. It is perfectly possible to respect the legendary memory of GA whilst still doing exactly what he did - move on.
I feel they were crazy to choose him over GA (who was almost definitely interviewed according to various ITKs) but what do I know. Bonner is still a good manager, either way.
Lomtadze isn't scared of sacking everybody and starting from scratch so we could be seeing a new manager soon. Or not. More importantly, would you rather be attacked by one giant Ainsworth or 100 small Bloomfields?
Very true that, although I'm old enough to remember when posters would make up imaginary scenarios and conclude why it would be good for Gaz to leave every time a vacancy arise when he was here
You regularly linked him with any available manager job available, when a local rag put a 'story' up. You are bang to rights lad. You can search anything on the gasroom.
You have have no idea what I'm talking about because you aren't very intelligent.
I'll back you up on that - I don't recall you ever being critical of him. Bear in mind this is @LX1 on one of his fire, ready, aim binges. (Love you, @LX1)

You are an absolute compendium, mate!
Haha, I thought that sponsorship was quite well known!
When i was a kid I liked Clydebank for their 'colours the wrong way round' Peru kit
Good job it wasn't the shorts
From the Stevenage forum:
That doesn’t sound like a Gareth response. I wouldn’t think he would bad mouth QPR to a fan of another club.
The fan has probably translated it out slightly differently worded than Gareth would have said.
To be fair, it has been an empirically accurate description of QPR for some years now.

Gillingham appoint Mark Bonner as new manager - BBC Sport

Maybe GA has a better offer.

We'll never know what jobs (if any) GA was interested in that he didn't get or was offered (if any) and declined or was never interested at all.
If he wants one, I hope a good offer comes in for him in due course.

@Kim_il_Swan 1 Wild Thing or 100 Mild Things*?
*All royalties to @micra
1 Steve Evans or 100 Nathan Jones?
The saddest thing is that, whilst Wycombe manager, Ainsworth was idiotically criticised by so many on here (@DevC was a constant)
Would he have left if that idiocy wasn't present? (not picking on one it was a dreadful disease)
Just read this. More.lucid than i
@devc was wrong for over ten years. But kept banging his pathetic drum
I honestly don’t think I ever criticised Gareth Ainsworth. I think he was the best manager in our history. Sorry no idea what you are talking about.

@Shev could you do a statistical analysis of every time @DevC called Ainsworth would leave Wycombe?
And wider further analysis (for everyone) what were Devs motives?
Certainly! I have found the following:
Instances of Dev criticizing Ainsworth found: 0
Motive: To not criticize Ainsworth.
