But in all the uncertain Bloomfield times earlier this season, it was also bizarre to see the anti Ainsworth sentiments from a fair few fans about how they'd hate to see him back.
His claim that those 8 points achieved at QPR may have helped them retain Championship status should definitely feature in his interview PowerPoint presentation.
Hard to imagine a situation where a club owner goes “oh, no worries, the GA disaster at QPR was down the boards poor choice, but not his own individual performance”
I just find it a bit odd how we Wycombe fans can’t accept GA didn’t do a good job at QPR and wish to shift blame elsewhere. Doesn’t really work like that in the real world without our rose tinted Wycombe specs on. It’s also funny when someone disagrees, it’s always “an agenda”.
He didn't do a good job and bringing things like the haka with him probably weren't particularly wise, but it's possible for that to be true and for him to have been the wrong fit.
Well sure, I agree it wasn’t a good fit at all. But its unlikely that prospective club owners just brush GAs time at QPR under the carpet. Unfortunately for GA, what Marti Cifuentes did at QPR with basically the same squad is not good reading.
Ainsworth will have helped arrest the slide if nothing else, some of his free transfer defensive signings certainly helped the new boss and you can imagine some of the work done behind the scenes did too.
Of course he failed and that's why he got the sack but he went when they asked him and he had a go. Far more factors than just him involved. He's come out of it worse than they have.
What he did in 10 years here mostly without a pot to piss in will be remembered by chairmen.
Another one with his head in the sand on this topic. If you want to have a sensible debate, at least get the facts right.
GAs time at QPR even going back into last season was dire. He took over a team 8 points clear and mid-table, and ended 1-point clear of the relegation zone, when you take away Readings 6 point deduction.
That’s not saving a team from relegation, that’s putting them there in the first place. Something that then happened again in this season also. Come on, let’s be fair and call it how it is. It doesn’t detract from how wonderful GA was in his time for us.
Remind me the chap Ainsworth took over from and what his record was.
Although tbh the point the people on here have been kind enough to enlighten you with is that Ainsworth was brilliant for us and and had a go at fixing a poor situation with your lot without adequate resources, the fact you seem desperate to slag his efforts and chase him down months later doesn't bode well for his successor.
Wish you all the best going forward, be that a poor start to the next season that gets the likes of you calling for his head, or a decent start which enables him to get another job higher up.
Sorry, but that’s your opinion because the data says otherwise. MCs points per game is over 1.4, which is top 10 finish over the season, and GAs was 0.57 which is 26 points over the season and on a par with Rotherham.
Weird post. I’m a Wycombe fan and was there at Wembley. Just seems some of our fans won’t have a bad word said about GA inspite of the evidence. Wonder how many would have him back these days? I much prefer Bloom ball and know many others do also.
Even though you did dig out my comments from January, I agree with you @HitAndHope. I’ve seen a lot of QPR in recent months and they are much improved. They were particularly fantastic against Leeds - played them off the park. Much improved from their first 5-10 performances under Cifuentes. It can’t have helped Ainsworth’s stock. I still think he will get a League 1 job though. Not Swindon. Not League 2 or below (unless they throw lots of money at him).
Let it go, he's moved on, they've moved on, nobody is suggesting he was a candidate for manager of the year, he set in flight much if what goes on at Wycombe today and has earned his respect.
Oh and btw there were plenty of people calling for Bloom's head at the turn of the year, Rob could easily have sacked him and appointed an experienced manager from abroad at great expense and if they'd have got exactly the same set of results we had since January we'd all be talking about how Blooms was out of his depth and how good the new guy is.

True - and the 21/22 side would have won the league!
Anyone going to the Ainsworth game at Maidenhead?
That's a shocker.
But in all the uncertain Bloomfield times earlier this season, it was also bizarre to see the anti Ainsworth sentiments from a fair few fans about how they'd hate to see him back.

There was someone on here who demanded Bayo and Bloomfield never pull on the shirt again during the Championship season.
There were people on here who didn't want Ainsworth when he was here.
There are people who demand to know why we haven't signed any players from May onwards every close season.
Other grim socials aside...it's even a rollercoaster on the Gasroom sometimes!
An interesting opportunity has arisen for Gaz to get back in to management.
Wish him all the best if it comes off and it’s not the Stevenage job.
which job is it?
Feyenoord???
United obviously
Barnsley or Rotherham?
Fat Steve has just gone to Rotherham

Oh yeah of course. Somehow forgot
This one aged well. QPR safe and under Marti Cifuentes they would have finished 10th or above.
Penny for GAs thoughts.
It was clear from the outset that he was the wrong fit for that squad. QPR's poor appointment shouldn't hurt his stock as a manager.
This one also aged well!
Think we all wanted GA to do well, but Marti Cifuentes has done a great job at QPR.
Won’t really be factored in though will it?
Hard to imagine a situation where a club owner goes “oh, no worries, the GA disaster at QPR was down the boards poor choice, but not his own individual performance”
Wishful thinking that.
A sensible club owner would.
Not quite sure what your agenda is here.

Pretty obvious recurring agenda and a bit dull.

Ainsworth didn’t do a good job there. Cifuentes has hardly done more than an adequate job either. I’m not sure what the point is?
Yes, don't leave us hanging @wwfcblue! Your ITK moment is now!
Remind me the chap Ainsworth took over from and what his record was.
