  • Was worried about goals but that second half panned out beautifully.

Could have had a couple more too.

We've got some real decisions to make on centre backs and centre mids now, which is great.

  • Yep - assuming Taf is fit to start the next game - that’s 3 out of Forino, Grimmer, JJ, Taf, Low and Keogh. You could make a case for all of them to start.

Midfield is easier for me - I think our most balanced combination is Scowen, Potts and Leahy. I’d even like to see Scowen play in the holding role as I think Potts could be really dangerous further up.

Breckin undoubtedly has talent but I think of all of our loanees is the one we’ll need to be most patient with.

  • Taylor looked good didn’t he.

  • Good performance and much needed.

Liked the defence with all three central defenders impressing.

How good was/is Freddie Potts? We have a special player. Enjoy him while we can.

Really concerned by Kian Breckin. Yet to find his feet in any of the friendlies or first two games. I’m not sure he or anyone else knows what his role in the slide is either. Clear he has talent, this one needs good management.

We were better going forward in the second half today. Still not convinced by the attack and this remains an area of weakness.

To be fair to Breckin, I don't believe he has played any proper 1st team football before he joined us. I think he's only played U21 football which is heavily protected so I think we need to start judging him by the beginning of Sept so he can get up to speed, get stuck in and get a few scars.

Potts really looks the part within this squad and next to the experience of Scowen and Leahy, should have the quality to scare any League 1 team.

Things look like they are starting to slot into place across the whole team and understanding their roles within it. I have total trust in Matt to keep this going!

  • Win Games. Saint Martin was right.

  • My MOTM was Max for three very good reflex saves in the first half, to keep us in the game. The last one was especially good after taking a deflection.

  • I still don't understand why Luton didn't try and groundshare here for this season. The stadium have 3x the capacity of their shithole and all the fittings are ready for the different types of technology they need.

And on the looks of things, surely MK is a very minor step up from being in Luton?

  • Because Kenilworth Road is worth at least 30 points to Luton this season!

  • Taf has Tweeted (Xed??) to confirm it was just a touch of cramp that forced him off this evening. Good news.

  • If Low is as good as advertised, we probably should look to cash in on Forino. It makes no sense to run his contract down if we have cover at that position.

  • Better. Not perfect by any means but better.

Although at half-time i have to admit i was wondering how on earth this team will score any goals. Our attacking play was so pedestrian, some nice touches but no sign of us getting in amongst or behind MK’s massed ranks.

However, the second half was very different. And bringing on Hanlan and De Barr proved to be the spark that delivered actual chances and goals. Well done both.

Elsewhere Joe Low was excellent in the middle of a physically huge back three. Good from Scowen and Potts in the engine room too.

  • I’d go along with all of that. I’d add that it’s a shame Taylor couldn’t stick one of his chances away though. He already looks like a player in need of a goal to boost his confidence.

All in all it was still a far from perfect performance and they had plenty of chances. Improvements came towards the end and things began to click a bit more. That bodes well going forward.

Just to add that their soulless bowl was at an all time low tonight. You could have heard a pin drop. Which was nice.

They might as well take their relegation now if they moved to the soulless bowl. Staying at KR at least gives them the slightest of fighting chances. Not that groundsharing ever crossed their minds.

  • Probably the same reason we wouldn't move to say Reading for a season if we went up.

  • Seemed even more daft chucking us up high.

Although a good view in fairness.

But it's a stark reminder of what we might have ended up with if the Wasps Booker thing had happened.

  • Keep Forino until Christmas and see what happens. Cashing in for £200k now to the dad rocker is not good business.

  • I felt pretty dispirited after the Exeter match, not least because the three at the back in the starting lineup included two full-backs (Grimmer and Jacobson) who have mainly played in central defence only as cover for the two excellent but injury-prone specialist central defenders (Forino and Tafazolli) plus another specialist (Keogh) who at 36 or 37 (?) has played relatively few games over the past year or so and maybe lacks a bit of pace.

The hugely improved performance in that area this evening, especially the outstanding debut of Joe Low, was a key factor in a very pleasing overall performance and result. And of course it meant that Jack Grimmer could be released to play in the right wing-back role coveted, as the man himself (Jason McCarthy) proclaimed on commentary. Healthy competition there between Jason, Jack and Kane.

Thank you, Matt Bloomfield and the lads for so quickly restoring faith and lifting an old man’s spirits !

  • They can’t afford him until they ship some players out, which they haven’t so far done.

End of the month might be a threat though.

  • Not necessarily.

What if he were to play a starting role in gaining promotion to the Championship? I'd say that the value of that contribution would be worth more to us than a transfer fee now

  • Forino limped away after his goal. Could be a good time for us for him to be injured! Joke of course.

  • Much as I like Big Chris....if the QPR deal does not work...I cannot see any of the other Championship teams not managed by GA putting in a bid for him...so I think he's ours. And if we go up, he'll probably stay ours.

  • Quite surprised there were no rumours surrounding him over the summer. I would hope we’ve offered him a longer term deal. Arguably our first or second most important player.

  • I think Taylor has a great eye for goal and they will start going in sooner or later.
