  • Shit pen

  • Does anyone know btw, what is the actual law on ball placement for a penalty? Is it really allowed to just touch/overhang the spot rather than actually be on it?

  • Walsh is having a dreadful game, she doesn't look fit & her passing is way off

  • Kelly making a big difference. We look at least threatening now and Spain’s keeper does not inspire me. Just need to make a clear cut chance

  • Clear elbow to the face to Greenwood. No VAR review? 🤔

  • Similar situation to the one which led to the upgrading of James’ yellow to red ?

  • Overall the US officials have been really poor, letting themselves get conned time & again by the Spanish in particular

  • Spineless ref - that was a second yellow for kicking the ball away

  • This is not the fault of the referees.

Until authorities clamp down on cheats both women’s and men’s football will suffer from players trying to con referees.

The Spanish ladies are just as bad if not worse than the Spanish men

  • She kicked the ball away right under her nose - that's on the ref

  • The Spanish should be down to 10

  • At least

  • Spain have been better than us but the ref has wanted to be the star of the show. Really poor officiating but on time wasting, feigning injuries and the kicking the ball away.

When you consider who’s not in the squad due to the curse of ACL injuries surely the final was beyond expectations.

  • I'm not sure they should have gone for an American ref in a final featuring England

Law14 “The ball must be stationary on the penalty mark and the goalposts, crossbar and goal net must not be moving.” As with corner kick, if any part of the ball is overhanging the mark it **seems** to be acceptable.

However Law 1 states the penalty spot is measured to the centre of the mark but does not state how big the mark may be. For the corner quadrant it is 1yd to the outside edge of the quadrant. If the penalty mark is the same size as a ball, the furthest edge of the ball could be 11yd 32” from the goal rather than the 12yd. Making ball overhang the centre of the mark would seem more sensible but does 4” really make significant difference?

  • Really should have given the game to Stephanie Frappart from France, easily the best ref at this World Cup.

  • As soon as we took Russo off it was over.

  • It was over from the beginning. We looked physically inferior throughout. Oh well.

  • Odd decision to take best and second best centre forward off at half time. Spain much the better team.

    Disappointing end to the camapign.

Spain were probably the better side on the day & congratulations to them, but they are an incredibly unlikeable team given their antics & those of their coach; all so unecessary when you consider how technically gifted they are.

England in the end suffered from losing their best players to injury before the tournament started, though overall I thought Carter & Greenwood were the stand out players along with Earps across the tournament.

The final as a spectacle was spolit by a ref who seemed to want to be the star of the show (same in the semi that she officiated) & failed too often to apply the laws, real shame for everyone.

  • Unfortunately the opposition just passed and kept the ball better, we've shown you can get wins with spirit and fight but not sure you can get tournament wins at the highest level when the opposition are also playing well and switched on to the nasty side of the game.

  • Spain far the better team first half and fully deserved the lead.

Thought the changes at half time made it a much more even second half. Not really sure though as Spain resorted to the type of games(wo)manship that early GA would have been proud of to totally destroy any flow to the game.

Ignore it, he's just an ignorant prick.

Actually on balance of the few comments @Bulman22 has made since joining, I'm going to retract that and give the benefit of the doubt.

  • Katie Zelem's father played in goal for Macclesfield against Wycombe in April 1993.

  • Did anyone notice how often England players “accidentally” trod on Spanish insteps? I counted five or six times.

  • Whilst it is small consolation, pleased that Mary Earps got the Golden Glove

  • Harold Wilson: Have you noticed how we only win the World Cup under a Labour Government?
