I have read that article and I can’t see any detail other than ‘muscle strain’ and ‘hamstring’. Also, recovery time from injury is not an exact science, players can be close to a return then suffer a setback.
"But it seems to have become a big deal for Gaz and therefore is getting a big deal for fans."
I think it more a matter of it is a big deal for some fans and they are making it a big deal for Gaz. As Liverpool are not under the same restriction regarding squad size as League 1 clubs I do not see their choice of giving out information to be relevant. But therein lay the point, it is a matter of his own choice as to how a manager does his job. I trust the manager, who has a long standing record for making good choices, to use his squad in the best way he sees fit.
When things are going well people are all too ready to roll out the 'In Gaz we trust ' line. A couple of poor results and it is quite clear these same people have no faith whatsoever.
Have to remember the LFC website is another cash generator for them, they also carry transfer speculation but it's all with caveats that it's not their opinion.
If you mean there is more than one way of saying nothing I agree. I’ve said before that I have dealt with a lot of managers in my job and almost all of them are very reticent when it comes to giving out team news. I fully understand why.
What does squad size have to do with it? Prem clubs still have to work with a limit) 25). It's got nothing to with a lack of faith in Gaz either; it's a simple case of fans wanting to know some basic info afforded to supporters of pretty much every other club as far as I can see.
Last paragraph. Let’s be fair. When we were all concerned about the goalkeeping situation, a fair few of us (perhaps misguidedly) expressed our confidence in GA based on his (and Dobbo’s of course) superb record over many seasons. When things are going well, the ‘in Gaz we trust’ line is hardly likely to be rolled out.
Early days, I know, but it seems perfectly feasible that United’s prevarication over their own goalkeeping situation may have done us an enormous favour if I am right in thinking it has resulted in us getting a very good ‘keeper on a permanent basis rather than a ‘keeper with League 2 experience only, on loan.
What evidence do you have that what you call basic info is afforded to supporters of pretty much every other club? If it’s the same as your evidence that Klopp gives out so much detailed information then I rest my case.
Klopp - and most managers - give out more detail than Gaz. All people want is vague time-frames for returns (as Klopp gives in several cases). That's really not an unreasonable expectation.
Our best generator of money recently is the manager knowing what he's doing, getting us promoted and finding bargains, if he has quirks this one we can deal with
Sorry, but I have to disagree with your first paragraph. It is when things are going well that the line gets trotted out. The slightest bump in the road and some people start questioning Gaz's judgement and ability. Not everyone was as concerned about the goalkeeping situation as you suggest. I never doubted that if the rumoured loan did not happen then the appropriate attention would be directed to finding a suitable replacement.
I too feel Man Utd have unwittingly done us a huge favour. Tyla Dickinson has gained valuable experience, and we now look to have signed a good young but experienced keeper. I would always prefer that Wycombe develop Wycombe players rather than loan players.
Just for the record, Nathan Bishop has League 1 experience from his time with Southend. I find it disappointing that since joining Man Utd. they have not built on that, only loaning him out at League 2 level. But such seems to be the way with players joining the big clubs, the few thrive, while to rest disappear.
I know I must have a football gene missing but all I am interested in is how well the team he puts out does. I assume there are good reasons why players are not available. As I have a season ticket I turn up even if I don't know who is playing. Subs at 80 minutes though...that gets my goat!
Yep, how do you measure what an opposition manager targets in training or how much crap our manager is subjected to in the media, and if he's even read it.
Yeah, I was being facetious, but I think you could do a comparison with teams who are more open about injuries (but then you'd have to come up with some kind of scale of transparency). I just think fans deserve to know about the whereabouts/welfare of their players, and we have a strange approach to it.
Simple question: do you think it would have helped Charlton to prepare for today’s game if they had known in advance that neither Tafazolli and Vokes would be in the starting eleven?
Fans literally have no idea if Vokes has broken his leg and will be out for the next 4-6 months, or if it's just a bad muscle strain and he should be back in 6-8 weeks or something. Just nailing it down to either of those 2 options would be fine, wouldn't give opposing teams additional information and would keep fans in the loop.

He gives much more detail than Gaz does. I wouldn't expect any manager to be exact (that's probably impossible).

Agreed @glasshalffull but maybe the Klopp way is a bit easier to take as opposed to silence.

Ainsworth unlikely to change tack any time soon.

True about that kind of content bringing in the clicks - and it would do likewise for us!

Fine, so let's see, in quantitative terms, evidence of the competitive advantage we gain from secrecy over injuries.
But you couldn't ever test that in quantitative terms.
You could
If you wanted to be flippant about it you could say Wycombe have had their three best ever league finishes using this approach.

Nah, you'd need to be able to compare with a reality in which we weren't so secretive, which isn't possible.
I will ask you again, where in the article you linked to does Klopp provide this detailed information you refer to?
Yep, how do you measure what an opposition manager targets in training or how much crap our manager is subjected to in the media, and if he's even read it.
Let’s see in quantitative terms what advantage supporters gain in knowing in advance who is fit and who isn’t?
Last paragraph. Yes, I remember that season now. We put four past him.
How on earth could you do that?
Yeah, I was being facetious, but I think you could do a comparison with teams who are more open about injuries (but then you'd have to come up with some kind of scale of transparency). It doesn't have to be detailed information.

Just nailing it down to either of those 2 options would be fine, wouldn't give opposing teams additional information and would keep fans in the loop.
Obviously it would. It's utterly bizarre that anyone complains in my opinion.
Which is exactly what Klopp did in the article I linked
So in short, football fans are fickle?
