We're in the 'not football thread' and it's my fault for changing the subject back on to football (whatever next in a football forum!) but I have to say I thought this was an interesting interview and explains a lot about Owen's career and him as a person..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt5kAGbR8Z4 I can't stand betting companies dominating the sport, but that aside you might enjoy this.
He had a great career, and earned lots playing for big clubs even after he was past his best, and showing zero loyalty, he's an awful pundit. Best thing he's ever done on telly was being shut up by Nev Southall.
Whoever the pair of them were I’ve no idea but there were equal measures of shouted hysterically excited reactions every time Leeds scored which didn’t go down too well with me. Bring back Tyler and Parry.
Tyler was awful by the end, sucked all the enthusiasm out of the game. And his replacement, Drury, is so melodramatic it's hard to listen. Seb Hutchinson and Pien Meulensteen are the two best at the moment imo.
How people are having a go at Moyes is unbelievable, he's got them top 10 and they won a European trophy last season.. he's done a great job ! Be careful what you wish for
Most of the old school commentators were great, suspect most peoples favourites coincide with when they started watching like Batmen and DR Whos , loved Motty, Barry Davies and Brian Moore as everyone did.
The issue recently seems to be those being told to over hype , can't believe Tyler came up with that "and it's liiiiive" stick and shoehorned it in for years without prompting and there's a reason ITV still can't be trusted with England games.
Ex player Co-Comms are almost universally dreadful on TV and need to remember to shut up, watch the game and offer some insight only when asked and not manufacture outrage.
Agreed. He seems very down to earth and mature for his age. I'd worry about acclimatising to the relentless tour schedule. Not much fun seeing the inside of a hotel for days on end...mind you he'll have his xbox!
I know darts isn't in the spotlight to the same degree as tennis, but I just worry a bit after the way Emma Raducanu was praised to high heaven then shot down the moment she didn't keep winning everything.

Aha you're right!
He was at it again at SPOTY https://twitter.com/BBCSport/status/1737447544865591503?t=w-xpu9P4aCcgVS5gZdf1gQ&s=19

He gets a lot of stick, but I don't mind him. A shame injury robbed him of the career he ought to have had.

That whole video was bizarre.
A premier league striker at one point leathering volleys past some skinny kid from mere yards away.
He's good comedy value
Is it Owen who is currently co-comms on Leeds v Ipswich?
Is it a high pitch whine with a string of cliches?

Exactly - they're massively overachieving
Hang on, how did this thread get onto Moyes?
Melodramatic is exactly the right word.
Ahh yeah lol, my bad, must have skipped from one to another !
But most people seem to love him - I've always found him a bit much, personally.
Motty would still have to be my favourite from my football-watching years.
Clive Tyldesley a close second - treated awfully by ITV
I quite used to rate that Alan Parry lad on ITV when i was growing up. No idea what happened to him though...
Peter Drury is magnificent
This is a very subjective topic though, of course
I really like John Champion as well

I voted for k. But brilliant for the winner...and exposed what a load of idiots exist
Is Alan Parry stil with us
K Cider?
Anyone else enjoy Luke "the nuke" Littler's win yesterday? I'd never watched darts for more than 5 minutes before Ally Pally and now i'm hooked.
He's ridiculous isn't he. I really hope the media scrutiny doesn't get to him.

I would worry more about his health...though I know fitness isn't the be all for darts, at 16 he looks like he needs to start taking it seriously now.
In fairness, more pros do seem to be taking their health seriously now - Luke Humphries lost a lot of weight.
