  • Barton is probably still bitter about the 4-1 thrashing of Fleetwood in the playoffs. Good times.

  • Not sure he's been following Derby and Rooney too closely 😂

  • I actually had to Google it to prove to myself that I wasn't going bonkers.

  • Must admit I'd scan read it as simply saying "did well...Derby... footy side" and only fully read it when you mentioned it!

  • I spotted the Derby head coach during the match at Bolton and he didn’t look a lot like Rooney.

Saw the thread heading and assumed the latest QPR boss had bitten the dust.

    Don’t do that to me.

  • The thread should just be renamed 'Ainsworth to Insert Unrealistic Team Here' so that we cover all eventualities.

  • “Club” please, @Shev ! 😉

  • Sorry @micra - 'Ainsworth to Club Unrealistic Team'. Seems a tad harsh on his part, though - seems more something Barton would do.

  • Hate to say it but QPR have lost 3-0 tonight and now haven't won since before Christmas. They couldn't sack another manager, could they?

  • Lad I work with is a QPR season ticket holder, says that a lot of fans want him (new manager) out already, quite a few didn't want him in the first place, and that a lot of people up there are now saying it's Gareths time

  • Hate to say it but if we don’t go up it does feel like it’s the time he may seriously consider moving onto them

  • Lad I work with was in a Marlow bistro last night with a load of lads and they are now saying the world is made of spaghetti

  • What are you people doing? I’m still dealing with Alfie Mawson over here.

  • Get pasta it

  • Still can't see GA leaving for 6 months at QPR.

Critchley rumoured to have been sacked, but if I were Gaz I'd think very carefully about going there (if they even want him) - it seems a bit of a mess and this is a really awkward time for any manager to go into any job.

The mad thing is even though they're 17th, they're as close to Luton in 4th as they are to Wigan in 22nd!

  • I don’t think Gaz will leave until his kids have gone to Uni and left home. That’s when I think he could afford to take a risk and move home if necessary. I’ve no idea how old his kids are though, but hopefully young enough for Bloomfield to serve a decent apprenticeship at Col U before himself coming home to Wycombe.

  • Strangley I'm less worried about Gaz leaving this time for QPR if true their manager has gone, we are on a roll again and in with a great chance of play offs and Rangers seem in even more of a state than usual ! It would be a big risk for him, and I can't see them saying we're happy to wait til the end of the season to see if you get Wycombe promoted or not.

  • Sadly, I think Gaz will go to QPR if offered. It's his destiny...isn't it?

And he has given so much to Wycombe, he owes nothing more here.

  • Good luck to him if he gets offered the job and really wants to go. I suspect he will continue to live in Wokingham and drive into their training ground etc.

I think if he is offered the job, he will take it. I just hope that Dobbo decides to stay.

  • Gaz without Dobbo is like a bow without arrows

  • If GA does decide that now is the right time to make that next step, who would take over? Do you reckon we'd get Sam Grace to see out the season then actively look for someone? Maybe Alfie might be tempted to help out?

  • The reasoning behind the QPR fear is that it is a very special club to GA. However, he was there 7 years or so - including his playing career here he is almost double that at Wycombe. At what point is Wycombe simply more special than QPR, at least enough for the risk of short employment to not be worth the move?

If would be really interesting for sure. We know how attractive we are to players, but that's because of Gaz and Dobbo. How attractive would we be to managers? It's just totally weird to think about because of how long it's been.

  • Presumably we would receive a fairly hefty fee for Gaz and Dobbo.

Put Sam in as interim until the summer. At that point the mad house at QPR sack them and they come dancing back.

    Simples!!

Looking through the QPR forum, almost all of the posters want the manager out and a fair few have named GA as the replacement. However, their concern is FFP. If they sack and have to pay compensation to manager (that they gave a 3yr deal to) plus the compensation to another club for a manager/coach from another club, they might be breaching their restrictions again. After their £50M fine several seasons ago, I don't think they can risk it after already being on the league's 'watch' list and seeing what happened to Derby.

So in summary, I believe GA (& Dobbo) are safe from QPR at the moment, but I believe its a matter of 'when' not 'if'
