I’m not sure you can call Brentford a benchmark. They owe Benham £104 million in the most recent accounts.
In the last two years they have made losses of £53 million and £34 million on turnovers of £15.3 and £13.9 million.
With excellent player trading they have steadied the ship but still made losses after player trading of just under £10 million in the last two seasons.
For the promotion season the bonuses paid to players in June was just short of the clubs turnover for the season. Absolute madness.
Apparently as low as £25m before add-ons, but even that seems wild for a player who's had one good Championship season. He's a very good player, but even 25 seems steep at this stage. Then again, I think Forest's recruitment this summer has been spot-on for the most part.
Compared to what others are chucking away that's peanuts tbh. Probably one player sale, or change from his pocket. Think Citys owners put in £800m in the last decade.
It seems a pretty strong PL this season, but enough potential strugglers to give Forest hope. Southampton, Bournemouth, Fulham, even the likes of Everton and Villa could all fight to get out of those final two relegation spots above Manchester United.
Steve Cooper has seemed infatuated with MGW (as a player!) for a while. Its like Moyes and Fellaini or 'Arry and Nico, you lose all perspective of a players true value.
Exactly, which contributes towards a large proportion of the current debt levels. The club is run somewhat better than the likes of Coventry and Derby!
See that Wasps in addition to not replacing the pitch in the summer as promised despite using it for the Commonwealth games rugby and trashing it have not only defaulted on a bond scheme to repay its own fans secured on the stadium they stole, ironically underwritten by said stadium sponsors but are also being chased by HMRC for doing a Derby, and are in trouble with the charity commission.
Has any other sports team roamed about the country causing grief like this. Shut em down.
MGW ? Unexplained abbreviations drive me mad. However familiar they may be to you, spare a thought for us ignoramuses (or possibly just this ignoramus!)
However you look at it the club owe Benham well over 100 million and have made huge losses every year for the last 10 years. As a business they are not well run at all. Everything is run on his generosity and being lucky in the transfer windows. Exactly how Derby were run by Morris.
All relative depending on how long the owner stays along and how long they stay up. Even Abromovichs Chelski despite spending a fortune got close to a break even position with high TV earnings, player sales and a great academy. Had he sold a month or two earlier before he was sanctioned I believe he'd have got back all of his outlay over the years as the selling price relative to profit made can be incredible in the Prem.
Looks like the pests have agreed to put some money in to thread the pitch and repair the worse bits by the end of the month. Stupid to have to do it now rather than before.

Must be horrible for you lad
How the hell did Onion not see red for this last night?
This is great from Palace (I've been mispronouncing Eze all this time!) https://twitter.com/CPFC/status/1560235059184934912
Would Forest like to splurge a bit more money? This is utterly bonkers. https://twitter.com/David_Ornstein/status/1560251041739931657
Enough to make your eyes water.....

HOW MUCH???

How much if any of those losses are due to building the new ground?
£22 million according to the accounts

If Cooper can gell the new players together quickly, I would expect them to survive. Fingers crossed.
Looked excellent going forward v West Ham if a bit too open at the back. Henderson and Williams particularly impressive, Awoniyi very promising.

It's widely quoted that the new ground cost over £70m.
The club owe Benham £22 million in relation to the ground. My presumption is the rest is payable by loan/mortgage etc.

I do like they have defaulted on payments back to there own parasetic followers.
The poor bastards must be trapesing around with holes in their Chino's.

Morgan Gibbs-White. That's a more obscure one tbf.
Thanks @ReturnToSenda. None the wiser!
I notice Coventry still aren't playing home games. What a shambles.
Egg-chasing bastards
There needs to be a sticky thread for these just for you.

Still hope they go bust.
