  • I'm starting a crowdfunding to get Alan Parry on twitter

  • We're going to have to add @Right_in_the_Middle mentioning "high pitched screams" to the Gasroom bingo card...

I know you specialise in the bizarre LX1 but that is a flight of fancy too far. I have said many times that if I was to engage with some of the halfwits and low life who populate Twitter I would end up being arrested.

  • @Blue_since_1990, not at all.
I've said before that whatever happens this season we'll finish in our highest ever league position and play next season in at least league 1 with a better squad and better finances than last season.
I'm going to try and enjoy the ride, although it's frustrating to see so many games bring lost by small margins.

  • Well said Twizz, totally agree with your sentiments.

  • However, wouldn’t it be good if the ride ended in us staying in the Championship!

I’m glad you think higher of us here on the Gasroom AP!

  • We are three-quarter wits and medium lifes here, thankfully!

I'm back. This set off some sort of silicon roundabout notification system.

I haven't commented on wycombe much in the last few years because i've clearly watched fewer games than all of you but this season is different. Have been trying to think of a parallel to Wycombe going up to Champ in PL terms and it's actually hard. Maybe Barnsley or Bradford into PL? We have to remember how unlikely this all is.

For me: pre-Fleetwood the Championship seemed fanciful.
2 mins into Fleetwood: ok, fine, this might be happening
pre-match Wembley, all the stats (boo) comparing Barcelona (OUFC) with Lawrie Sanchez's Wimbledon (us, but not under LS) crystalised we were going up.
1 day after Wembley I think all Wycombe fans were happy to say "even if we don't win a single game what an adventure"

But obvs when you get into the week by week reality of a classic league season that all fades. No-one likes seeing Wycombe lose, whether we're bad or unlucky but we're prob going to lose quite a lot all the same. For me, the big red flag about a season like this is what happens to teams generally when they get elevated above their usual station. The worst thing you can do is gamble (your Yeovils, your Bradfords etc) and drop like Stockport. It doesn't feel like that to me but we should prob be preparing to go and annoy Peterborough, Ipswich, Oxford & Sunderland in L1 next season. Their stance is "Wycombe shouldn't be in the Championship" and ours should be "hi guys, remember us, we've been in the championship and we're better now, ben foster had a go pro in our goal"

Ultimately, all the teams that go and gamble on staying up do so by destroying their team spirit (if Wycombe sign Benito Carbone next month I will have concerns) and that's literally our biggest strength. Enjoy the wins but also enjoy the defeats if they need a £7m enganche to do it.

TLDR: I realise this means I agree with Alan but 2020 has been that sort of year x

  • @oilysailor never leave us again.

  • Alright Duncan.. We've all had a drink lad

  • I'm not sure which is best.. 'silicon roundabout notification system' or 'specialise in the bizarre'

    Come on You Blues!

  • @glasshalffull Merry Christmas to you and yours. We are staying up!

  • Welcome back Oily, everyone comes round to my way of thinking eventually. Well, everyone apart from Eric Plant and Mooneyman...then there’s davecz and Dr.Congo...oh, I mustn’t forget Doob and Chas Harps...and, of course, Nice Carrots and HC Blue etc......
Ok, no one agrees with me eventually and you’ll probably be added to the list pretty soon, but it’s still good to have you back.

Thank you, sir and I share your optimism.

    I've said I think we'll stay up,!

  • Interesting post @oilysailor even if some of the terminology and “TLDR” was above my head. Would like to know in particular what your comment about Ben Foster meant. All I know about him is that he acted the Good Samaritan towards an elderly Watford supporter a few months ago and was Watford’s Man of the Match against us at Adams Park.

  • Micra, it means’Too long, didn’t read’ but I had to look it up!

Ben Foster has a YouTube channel called The Cycling Goalkeeper where he documents a lot of his matches, including sometimes putting a small camera (GoPro) in his net. Here’s the one from his game v us this season:

I've never said we are going down Mr Parry.

    That's a real rogues gallery.
Except for the legend of @drcongo of course :)

Didn’t say you had, just listing the people with whom I’ve had ‘robust’ discussions!

Thanks a lot for posting that @JohnBoy.
Really enjoyed it. What a lovely guy.

Glad to be mentioned in such illustrious company. Always good to have robust discussions. It would be so boring if we all had the same views. Long may it continue.
