Lovely trip down memory lane there. Couple of points though, Garner was signed during the previous season not over the summer, and the first defeat to Bradford was away not at home
@chairboyscentral Ignore @eric_plant : his memory of that time is insufferably accurate. That's a great piece, so due thanks to you and your contributors.
That Huddersfield home game was one of the great games. Funnily enough, I remember feeling at that point that there was no deficit that team could not come back from - much like your correspondents. And then recognising that feeling again only in the last few years, with the extraordinary turnarounds at Adams Park - Carlisle, Southend, Scunny, etc.
Garner's goal in the home game against Huddersfield is one of my all time favourite Wycombe memories. As my ageing brain remembers it, there was some sort of foul in the build up but no whistle, and everyone except Garner stopped playing. He stroked it into the back of the net.
I also remember having to translate Yorkshire for my fellow Wycombe fans as we were called "spawny c**ts" by a large group of Huddersfield fans being kettled by the plod on the way out.
I can’t believe how little I remember about that season, compared to some others - despite watching nearly every match, home and away. Huddersfield away stands out, for having to sit amongst the away fans using the benefit of my local address to get a ticket (and thus not daring to celebrate Garner’s goal). Getting happily soaked at Headington is another that sticks. But the end of the season and the departure of the great man seems but a blur for some reason.
Ballots for Tickets, 1 per person, a mini bus of us went over to Hitchins replay with Hereford at Top field, so we would have ticket stubs, that may enable us to purchase tickets in the Hitchin areas, if we were unsuccessful in the ballot.
Quite the lengths we would go to, a now for the first time in many years, it's highly unlikely I will renew my season tkts due to the excessive hike in prices.
First time post, so probably looks weird, but hey ho!
I’ve got a now tv mobile pass spare if anyone needs it to access sky sports for one month. I bought it in error thinking it was for tv, but alas no. Happy to pass on for the price of a beer.
I especially like the the little predictions table. Reminds me of when I used to have an imaginary league between my teddy bears and kept the results in an exercise book

I would dub his radio commentary over the top, but I would bet the timing would be off, sadly.
Back when iFollow was either pictures or commentary and VPNs still worked, I once spent the first 10 minutes of a match pausing and unpausing the video in one iFollow account until it was roughly in sync with the audio from another account.

Thanks, will correct!

Bliss it was in those afternoons to be alive.
@our_frank Cheers! And tbh I hope I can remember things that well in 25 years' time.
Always really interesting to chat to people who can say 'I was there' - Paul in particular is an absolute encyclopedia as you know.
Just don't ask me anything that's happened in the last 15 years!

The atmosphere that day one of the all time best at Adams Park
That Huddersfield game (actually probably both fixtures against them) really epitomised an era when anything seemed possible.
Boy have they taken it out on us ever since though!

I sat with the Huddersfield fans that day too. A great day with Garners goal in a three sided stadium
That was one of only 2 games ever where I've wanted to get a ticket but wasn't able to. The other being Hitchin away in the FA Cup
Sat in a pub listening to the commentary on 1170AM

A look back at how those who could make Wycombe history have fared in the play-offs in previous years: https://chairboyscentral.com/2020/06/22/been-there-done-that-chairboys-players-play-off-pasts/
What happened 15 years ago?
I suspect @eric_plant can’t remember.
Latest round of League One testing has returned 0 positives. https://www.efl.com/news/2020/june/efl-statement-covid-19-test-results5/
until richemu80 has confirmed this I remain sceptical

This is a nice touch, once again painting our wonderful club in positive light.

Late to the party on this one - apparently they had it last year - but there wil be goal-line technology in the play-offs.
To @floyd and any other international fans, the EFL have now confirmed iFollow will NOT show any playoff games (I had thought the opposite).
Coverage here in the States is ESPN+ only. No free trial currently, but $4.99/month and cancel any time.
The ESPN+ coverage of the L2 playoffs has been pretty good. I'll miss @bluntphil tho.

Reminds me of when we had to record late night Channel 5 on VHS.
I was fully clothed.
This is our commentator. NOT the guy responsible for 'Grummer' and 'Akinfenway'.
