I may be ever so slightly deluded (let's hope not!), but I don't really have any fears we're going to massively struggle.
It's league 1. It's not the champions league knock outs.
As long as we play as we can more often than not, i'd think staying up should be fairly comfortably achieved.
There might be the occasional 3-0 beating, but i'm confident we can do way more than "enough" to stay up.
I'd say we might be heading for a rare season of actually being on the beach by mid March! We haven't had that moan for a long time. Even 2 years ago, we still had play off hopes then before drifting off.
O Nien going was a big blow, for sure. Charles immediately picking an injury up is a big concern. Kashket is a concern. Can Stewart go 6months without a big injury?
All clubs will have their own similar concerns though, so bring it all on. First game v Blackpool in a mere 3 days.

Micra is spot on as usual. Some people seem to get pleasure from fearing the worst. Perhaps that increases their joy when things turn out better than they expected but somehow I doubt it.
I don't think they necessarily get pleasure from it. It's just their nature.
We might get relegated, we might get promoted, we might do neither. I'd hope Gaz remains in charge whatever happens.
I'm not worried about our squad, Dobson and Ainsworth have been running their phone batteries down since Wednesday last week and their talent and respect in the game have seen them secure adequate replacements having been curve balled by the selling of 09 from under their noses.
Gareth has an ace or two up his sleeve which will be played very soon. The departure of 09 showed Gaz what he knew all along and whilst he will retain diplomacy such is his professionalism, he has no time nor trust in anyone other than AH on the board.
It is remarkable that GA shares his innermost thoughts with someone who then posts them on the Gasroom. I'm convinced.
Thanks though for the remarkable revelation that GA has been working on getting a loanee or two in and that any secured will be announced soonish.
My insider knowledge is less than some but God has confided in me that he intends to make it get dark later this evening before getting lighter again tomorrow morning. I'll be back tomorrow to tell you I told you so.

Absolutely. Why the optimism and enthusiasm of last season has evaporated so soon for some people is a mystery. We’ve lost one player, albeit a very good one, but we did ok when Luke was out injured last season.
I believe at one stage our record without O'Nein playing was 1 win out of 9?
@IanBeale you've convinced me. We're doomed. @drcongo you beat me to it...spooky. @marlowchair your insight makes richie look like a chancer who knows nothing.
I am not concerned, but relishing seeing how we do. To me, even the top half of League Two is potentially punching above our weight, and we are second favorites to go down anyway, so let's take a good crack at proving people wrong!
Going forward, I think both PCH and Freeman could begin to come into their own, besides our old war horses. I love Scottie, but our goalkeeping and defense will be better, though injuries are inevitable too. I love Luke, but one of the many beauties of football is that however good one player is, he is rarely "make or break", hence the failure of Argentina to ever win the WC with Messi. Yes, we need something more in midfield, but GA knows that more than we do. Before him leaving, I was already thinking about the fact that we would lose him for free next year, so as long as we properly recruit, we solve the problem of his departure early, while also getting cash that the club needs.
Most of all - let's enjoy this! It is a continuation of a great story, and I would rather enjoy the ride, even if it ended in relegation, than weep and wail prematurely.
Shev, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.
New baby on the scene, Mrs Shev needs all your love at a time like this, yet you betray her trust with passion for not one but two men at the same time.
@Shev Did you not hear, we have insider information the undisclosed fee is nowhere near the figure you first thought of and the Sith Lords on the board aren't even letting Gareth use the money to charge his phone. Keep up man!

richie already looked like a chancer who knows nothing.
@ Wendoverman, And it's the first of 46 in League 1 this season.
We only have to wait until May 2019 to find out if we have fulfilled the 5 year Plan. Long experience of this wonderful game has given me many exciting moments as well as just as many disappointing times. However it has been teamwork which produced the most satisfactory results. Nothing to-date indicates to me that WWFC are no longer going to maintain their togetherness, so COYB's it's going to be a great season.
GA has kept this club financially afloat despite and in spite of the board.it is his and Dobsons football fortune and incredible record of achieving cup runs above our budget level and identifying and recruiting players who not only perform well for our club but also dig the board out of financial trouble year after year.
Do you or anyone else seriously have an argument against that?
Supporters can accept when a club had reached its ceiling or level if football and front office are being run well and efficiently for the results achieved.
The way the Luke O’Nien sale was handled, More so the reasons it needed to be made has really frustrated our manager. After working without much budget and never complaining for years he is within his rights to be angry when just as he achieved promotion on a tiny budget, the board tell him the pot is empty again and we need to sell Luke at a knock down price. He was within his rights to expect the business and operations side of the club were improved and capitalising on a promotion seasons.
I’ll be accused of all kinds of traitorous negativity for stating the obvious on this but GA and other staff simply wish the other areas of our club were run as effectively as his department. Constantly being limited and having money that he had earned the club allocated to other areas due to mistakes and a lack of skill and experience can test any managers resolve.
Again I will be the evil trust member for daring to raise it and no doubt will have humble pie to eat when the food and bar lines and service are exemplorary on the weekend

No one would argue against the positives there - Ainsworth and Dobson have done a brilliant job and far exceeded any reasonable expectations.
There is no evidence that this is despite or in spite of the board.
Of course we are in financial trouble every year, that is the nature of lower league football in this day and age. The vast majority of lower league football clubs don’t break even on ticket sales and tv money alone - cup runs, player sales and the investment of wealthy individuals are the things that keep clubs going. This isn’t healthy or sustainable in my view, but it’s the situation that football as a whole has found itself in.
I’m sure Ainsworth does wish he had more money to spend, but so does every football manager, and every budget holder in any organisation.

Happiness = Reality - Expectations
A couple of quality signings and I think we will be ok in sure the club are working on transfers lets not panic just yet.

Thanks Mrs Ainsworth!

Does Gareth know he has no time for or trust in the Board?
I hope this becomes a regular bit @marlowchair. Perhaps you should take over Vital Wycombe to share your insights with a wider audience.
Luke O'Nien has become the 2nd coming of Duncan Edwards since he was sold

very well said Shev
we have a far far better goalkeeper this season. Last year in quite a lot of games we were having to score 3 times in order to win
There's a game on Saturday....at last!

A very sensible assessment Fame 46.
There's no room for that sort of calm, measured tomfoolery on here @fame_46 we need panic and unease.
Shoosh @Wendoverman, there’ll be ample opportunities for a resumption of hostilities when the imminent signings are announced.
There’s no need for any hostilities period.
As I said the couple of aces GA has up his sleeve are being played.
@marlowchair but surely only if the Board he has no time for or trust in allows him to play them?
When are they being played? And will they start or will they come off the bench?

About time they got off their aces...
You certainly seem to have a telepathic understanding of the thoughts and feelings of GA and his colleagues @marlowchair.
