"Wycombe Wanderers Women Youth", a newly badged team of U18s and U23s, will be playing in the Southern Region Division One North next season, one level below the Firsts.
The league graphic shows them as "Wycombe Wanderers Reserves", it's not clear if they will be running two youth teams.
One of the departures during the season, which went under the radar (my oversight), was co-captain Katie Hudson. She played three games early on, and one for the Reserves, then nothing was heard until she signed at the end of January for Woodley United. She helped them win Southern Region Division One North, so they will be facing the Chairgirls next season.
Katie had been a Chairgirl since 2017, one of their best players in that time, at the heart of the defence. It is important to recognise and thank these long serving players when they leave. They give a lot of time to the club, and help the development of the younger players.
An interesting interview with Head Coach Carl Simon, giving a very honest assessment of a season which was difficult at times, but ended with much optimism.
I wasn't aware when posting this that you now need an account to read a tweet. Here is the YouTube version which I'm pretty sure you don't need an account for!
On Sunday the Chairgirls play their next friendly when travel to Real Bedford, who will be playing in the Eastern Region Premier WFL, the same tier 5 as Wycombe. KO 2pm at McMullen Park, Meadow Lane, Bedford MK44 3SB.
Wycombe Wanderers Women season tickets are now on sale. At £35, or £30 for WWFC season ticket holders, they are a good way to show your support for the club.
Not at all @Wendoverman, the ST is a good way to give support at a reasonable cost, even if you cannot attend any matches. I have bought one knowing I will not make most, if any, of them.
If this week doesn't convince people that women's football is something to get behind we have issues, I lived in Sydney a while back and the idea that football would be big business, let alone Women's football was looked down on by the mulletted AFL types. 75000 for a game they weren't even in is amazing.
We've been looking for ways to increase the revenue and compete against bigger teams historically, if we do nothing we get nothing.
Congratulations to Firsts player Molly Carter, who opened and top scored, and took a wicket, for Bucks Firsts cricket team today at Wormsley. Bucks beat Berks by 38 runs in the 50 over South Central Regional Cup match.
On Sunday the league season starts for the Firsts and the U23s. The U18s get going the following Saturday, in the JPL League Cup.
In the Southern Region Women's FL Premier, the Firsts travel to Ascot United, who finished second last season and are probably favourites to win this season. Last season, the Chairgirls lost 3-1 at Ascot in their last game, a league cup semi-final, and also drew 1-1 there in the league, and lost 5-1 at Burnham. Kick-off 2pm at The Racecourse Ground, Ascot SL5 7LJ.
Three players have left the Firsts, Esmee Sword, Shauna Smith and Sally Grimm, due to relocation or higher education. The only announced incoming so far is midfielder Sarah Davern, and what a signing that is, only revealed today. A former Reading Academy player, she was captain of Ascot United last season and, after seven seasons there, she has signed for the Chairgirls to look for a new challenge. She is not match fit for the game on Sunday, after an ankle injury from last season, but is in contention the following week. Hear her confident and determined sounding interview on Twitter, https://twitter.com/WWFCWomen/status/1697549166648455538?t=jPyv-WBqSAS5fcZZdcuqCw&s=19. Hopefully that will become available later on the WWFCW YouTube channel.
This season, the Premier Division is without Abingdon United, after their promotion to the National League, and Abingdon Town, who were originally listed as being members this season in the FA Pyramid allocation (see https://www.thefa.com/news/2023/jun/02/womens-football-pyramid-club-allocations-tiers-1-6-2023-24-season-20230206). I cannot find where they have gone to. Joining are Warminster Town, a sideways move from the South West Premier, and promoted Badshot Lea and Woodley United. That means the Division has nine teams, one more than last season, but tier 5 divisions are normally 12 strong.
Also on Sunday, the U23s (formerly the Reserves) begin life in the SRWFL Div 1 North, after jumping up two levels. They are away to Abingdon United Devs, one of five new teams in the 11 team Division. Kick-off 2pm at Northcourt Road, Abingdon OX14 1PL.
Incidentally, Ruislip Rangers, who finished top, 9 points clear of the Reserves last season, with a positive 12-1 aggregate score against the Chairgirls, have been promoted only one level to the TVC Div 1. I can only presume they did not want the longer away trips in the SRWFL.
Stop press, Giulia Livi has resigned for the Firsts, after first joining last February, but left for Wimbledon U23s when the Chairgirls' season ended in March. She is the fourth signing, so I am obviously not paying attention to their press releases!

Not advertised in advance, that missing U18s league game against Nottingham Forest has been played today.

A 3-1 friendly win for the Firsts at Northampton Town Development today.
There is very little chance of me making any of the games but I feel I should buy an ST at a mere £30. Does that make me a fair weather supporter?

Well, I've done it, even if I don't make it to Burnham. Nice to support the team outside of the highly publicised glamour of the World Cup and that...
Would be really good if we could organise a women's home game that many Wycombe fans attended, even if just one a season.
@Will_i_ams I think you're the 1887/4 connection - could you help with this?
@Jonny_King could the WWISC help as well?
