Players start to return from holidays this week ready for pre-season training in the next week or so. Contracts end this week for a lot of players and their last pay cheque arrives. It focusses the attention of a lot of players after that. Far too early to panic. I would prefer to have 90% of the squad at the start of pre-season but I also love to see A.Trialist on the pre-season team sheet followed by the speculation whether that is the lad who was at xxxx last season and who started his career at xxxx only to find out that he actually played for Beaconsfield or is actually Nick Freeman with a new haircut and the wrong shirt number.
Gasroom Outrage needles beginning to edge into RED...richie needs to get his ear to the door pretty fast before we have some early chairboy embolisms!!
With clubs like Chelsea farming out so many players on loan the ones destined for the 4th division will be well down their list of priorities. I'm quietly confident that Gareth isn't in the garden with a reminder set on his phone for 15th of July saying 'Sign new players'. Plus we only need 3 or 4 this season. Just 3 or 4 good ones.
Who ever comes in will, in the expert opinion of the fans, fall into a combination of the following criteria:- too old, too young, too tall, too short, too heavy, too lightweight, too quick, too slow, no ball skills, can't tackle and couldn't hit a barn door from five paces.
They will therefore be written off before a ball is kicked, and will have no impact on the existing squad, that is until they become the player of the season after two weeks.
I have it on good authority from my brother's, wife's, sister-in-law's, step-brother's, 2nd cousin's, uncle's, grandfather who knows a fella who once did litter picking on the terraces of Loakes Park so has inside information, than Real Madrid are happy to tear up Christiano Ronaldo's contract and let him come and play for Wycombe on a cheap 'pay as you play' basis. Ronaldo was heard to comment that he understands that competition for places is tough, so he's happy to play anywhere. I'm sure he'd do alright at right back.
With a reliable source like that, surely it must be true.
I hear there is a player in the EvoJumboStickBurgerLeague who has scored 1,000 goals in 14 games for Camberwick Gasworks. Whyohwhy does Gareth ignore non-league?
I'm with @TheAndyGrahamFanClub I think he'll stick with present squad as far as possible and with three or four quality additions we will be competitive next season.
Alternatively he will sign no-one to our squad of crippled donkeys and we'll be lucky to survive in L2. One or the other.
@Wendoverman, aren't you forgetting that he may sign three or four my crippled donkeys and we may finish mid table, above or below. Let's get all bases covered.
@bluenotes mid table for this team and this manager and this Chairman and this Board and this Trust with these players is basically relegation in Gasroom years.
@bill_stickers, it should have read more crippled donkeys, but I like the concept of My Crippled Donkey. A new business opportunity, you heard it here first.
@Wendoverman, true but let's not leave ourselves open to being wrong. Here's to a good, bad or indifferent season.
Some really interesting signings starting to happen in our league. Billy Knott to Lincoln is a really good signing and Stevenage have signed Joe Martin and Blair Turgott. The latter was really respected at West Ham but lost his way and possibly his liberty soon but an adventurous signing if it comes off.

@Right_in_the_Middle It was to me! But from a list of names written down rather than a photo, which I suppose is a crucial difference.
this tread has become so boring.....it should be about transfer speculation!
Didn't realise you were Irish @wwfc2015.
Nice patterns @Chris.
Gazza ended up in court for that exact same "joke" didn't he?
Presume our Hening defended him at the time
This was a transfer speculation thread......
Tell me about it!
Are we the only club not linked to anyone?

But can they play at right back?

My Crippled Donkey sounds like some kind of knock off version of My Little Pony.
did chuckle at that @bill_stickers

I'm with you @bluenotes.
Promotion...drinks all round! :-)
Relegation...drinks all round! :-(
One point off play-offs...drinks all round. :- /
It's a win win win....sort of
It's a win win draw lose lose lose lose lose lose
Don't forget match abandoned with a quarter of an hour to go, due to the weather. More drinks all round.

Dunne gone to motherwell!
Barry Corr released my cambridge...would be a good signing ?
Doubt Corr would be an acceptable signing for Trevor!
I think Corrs dodgy knees is the real reason he has not been offered a new deal at Cambridge.
