True! And if Wycombe had a lifetime loyalty requirement despite employment elsewhere, we would not be helping Bristol Rovers stay up instead of Shrewsbury, because that would be hypocritical. 😁
@Malone No-one from Wrexham worth buying, strikers anyway. Fletcher's too old, Mullin's lost it, Palmer's never had it, Marriott's got a broken leg.
On the subject of Wrexham, I sense a bit of panic, desperation and maybe a bit of resignation around the Racecourse. Some fans starting to question Parky, and others saying 3 promos in a row was always unrealistic and their ageing yet hardworking squad will struggle to keep it going in the 2nd half of the season.
Personally I still think they will be a threat, as they have a high quality midfield and very strong home record, but it's interesting to see how a run of poor results has quickly spooked them.
It's a risky game rejecting £7m. If we genuinely don't need the money then the gamble is worth it.
But God forbid, and this is completely hypothetical, but say Kone picks up a bad injury tomorrow....we are a striker down, and a huge transfer fee down.
I think Kone can do better than Luton. I genuinely think he's destined for the prem.
But it's not £7m. It is UP TO £7m. Who knows how that stacks up. They have already said it is something like £2.5m up front and the rest is performance related. Maybe if it was £7m up front done deal. But it appears to be a long way off that.
We shouldn’t entertain selling him even if a club offer us £10M up front. We want to go up into the Championship and without him we probably wouldn’t achieve that. He will also be worth much more in the summer and then if Richard wants to leave we can let him go to a better club than Luton.
And just when you think we out of the woods rumour of Middlesborough making a bid start to surface. What are the parameter for clubs making a bid? Shittest towns in England only?
My mate at work was alluding to someone like Boro making a move (it was purely hypothetical, he had no base for it). I think if someone like them did come in 1) we’re likely to get a more realistic fee and 2) they are likely to loan him to us for the rest of the season
Firstly, win their game in hand and it's 11 points. You're right not to assume anything, as Roy McDonut I am sure told himself when ColU were 13 points ahead of us in February, and a better goal difference, but ended up in May with only their goal difference intact. Leyton Orient's defining month will surely be February. The have Stockport, Mansfield and Lincoln at home, plus Man City in the Cup. That's all followed by Bolton away, Birmingham away (and Wrexham away still to be scheduled). If they are still in the hunt after all of that, then their last two fixtures of the season might be very interesting - WW (H) and Huddersfield (A).
As you say, probably too much to do, and definitely too big a gap if the top sides continue to have reasonable form themselves.
The end of the season is looking increasingly interesting. Bolton (A), Charlton (H), Orient (A) and Stockport (H) are our final 4 games. All of those look like they will be fighting for the playoffs at the least.
Kone wasn't in the squad on Saturday according to rumours. Then he was.
I cannot see us selling him for low millions with add-ons which may or may not come to fruition. Let them cough up.
He wants promotion with the team that gave him a chance if his interview is to be taken on face value. We don't have to sell, we're near the end of the season with promotion on the line and we cannot get a decent striker in to replace him in time in this window.
If someone does give us 10 mill up front and loan him back for the rest of the season, I could live with that, but if the management group are as savvy as we think (hope) they are I expect them to wait until May and watch the numbers rise.

1:57 from RK24 to Taylor. The ‘we’ is the important word. These vids are really good
Luton apparently signed alli from Exeter for £1.5m - instead of Kone ?!? Thoughts whilst crossing fingers..
Mr. Exeter my ar...oh wait.
If he was really Mr Wycombe he'd be trying to buy Wrexham and Huddo's best players to help us 🤣😎
True! And if Wycombe had a lifetime loyalty requirement despite employment elsewhere, we would not be helping Bristol Rovers stay up instead of Shrewsbury, because that would be hypocritical. 😁
I think we may help Shrewsbury with David Wheeler going there on loan in the next few days.
He's so rusty he'll be bringing them down from within.

We'd only be rejecting 4m, so even worse
They don't allow cars around the corner flags there anyway, only coracles.
Losing that home game will definitely have rattled them.
And they've played 4 more at home than away so that's big too.
However, while 6 points over them and 10 over Huddersfield with 1 game more played is superb, we know how quickly it can change.
That's why it's the old adage 1 game at a time.
And they've played 4 more at home than away so that's big too.
Great point. Wrexham have just 7 home games left - Orient, Bolton, Stockport, Rotherham, Burton, Bristol Rovers, Charlton.
At best, I think they'll win 4 of those...
Their away form is very mid-table.
I'll stop wishing away the season now... 😁
I think Stockport are the best team outside the top two, and we beat them 5-0 away, so...
Stress-free 2nd half of the season for you then, @Shev …

So simple decision.
Orient are the form team we have to watch
I would never assume anything in football but we’re 14 points ahead of Orient with a better GD, that’s a big gap.
And just when you think we out of the woods rumour of Middlesborough making a bid start to surface. What are the parameter for clubs making a bid? Shittest towns in England only?

Never been there but Ridley Scott based the cityscape of Blade Runner on Middlesbrough. Not sure that's a recommendation of the place, mind.
I expect we are pushing for the £7m upfront which I don’t think Luton will pay so hopefully deal off the table.
I suspect we are not!
Agree. Given the current circumstances, I assume DR will view he is not for sale at any price right now and that will be reviewed again in the summer.

Hope you are right but let’s see. If Boro also come in could make for an interesting bidding war.

Agreed, I think Schumacher is a great appointment for Bolton and we’ll see them push on now. Quite gutted we didn’t get him.
