Would be great to know whether the rumours about being "influenced" to stay by some interesting local characters was actually true or not.
And also how the Lampard-Gerrard axis would have worked. Although they would have had a 3rd man behind them, which England of that era cottoned onto too late.
And thirdly, would Gerrard actually have stood out amongst other top players, or would he have Grealished.
I just read this:- In October, Jurgen Klopp was announced as a new brand ambassador for travel company Trivago. The ex-Liverpool boss is the face of the global hotel search platform's latest marketing campaign with the most recent advert released only last week.
So the man's out of a football job so how come his name hasn't been put forward?
Mnd you doing those adverts and other PR is a lot less stressful I feel sure.
I fear this is an opinion driven by sentiment . I think it woud be a crying shame for this man to be the next Niel Smillie and I worry
this would be a likely outcome . The historical romanic trend for us to employ current / past players or coaches belongs to our frugal past in my opinion . To expect Grace to negotiate our tough March fixtures , handle the pressure of the run in and intrigrate our host of new signings (with their egos) , is just asking for trouble with his lack of experience .He would then be expected to sustain us in the Championship , again with no experience at that level of football. In my opinion he seems too gentle a man to be dealing with the huge pressure that is around the corner or the flack that will come from frustrated fans if things go south . Leave him to do the very good job he already does in the academy and sign a manager of a level that mirrors the big aspirations of the ownership is what is needed instead ..
How much input does Sam V have into current day to day team management and selection? Maybe Sam G, having the coaching qualifications, uses Sam V for the areas that need more experience for pressure stuff while Sam V can do his coaching badges in preparation for taking the reins completely next season?
Absolute conjecture as I am definitely not ITK. But I wouldn’t be unhappy if it were the case. Gives existing squad some continuity for the rest of the season at least and give Sam V time to impress behind the scenes as it were.
Interestingly, Sam Vokes today said he got his A license a while ago, so he has some formal coaching training to a significant level.
The weird thing for me is the utter lack of smoke around a new head coach. Ian Evatt is just available (hence his rise in the odds market) and Lee Johnson already explained how he was not approached and why his odds came down (being seen at Mansfield), so there are no genuine favourites currently.
This is a total guess, but I think the Danish chap was the main target, and the Danish players were part of smoothing that road. However, I would expect us to have a longer list of Plan C, D, E etc., so it is a little strange for time to be drifting on like this. The one thing that gives me confidence is that the Danish chap is the sort of target I would prefer to Gerrard, Johnson, Buckingham, Martin, Evatt, etc. etc., so hopefully we are in Stockholm or Copenhagen right now, talking to another Scandy.
I am sure the players weren't drawn out of a 'Random Danish Player' tombola, but it would definitely be an incompetent look!
Alternatively, maybe they told Sam Grace they were going to stand at '0', and every time he wins they move forward a pace, every time he draws they stand still, and every time he loses they move back a pace. If he gets to spot 5, they hire him permanently, or if he ends up back at 0 they hire a new head coach. 😁
we do need an experienced coach ...we have an opportunity of a lifetime, with our league position and amazing quality of the squad...we have to make sure we get an experienced coach in

Very good 👏

Very good @micra although you do have to have the correct accent to make it work.
The way I say it there’s no trace of an accent.
Would a coup de grace not be the current caretaker manager seizing power?
I wouldn't, because as soon as Gerrard gets another job he'll go running off to him again
Fantastique!!
Hmm, this is true
Should there be a circumflex?
I was going to say diction, but had to check on the spelling as it could have gone horribly wrong.
I studied French for 7 years and still call it 'a little hat thing'

He's not out of a football job - he's Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull

I think he was making a joke…!

Could you imagine how breathtakingly dreadful the planning was if we banged 1.5m on 2 players to lure a certain manager in.
Then discovered we'd have to wait 2months for him.
Then discovered he didn't actually want to come anyway?!
I am sure the players weren't drawn out of a 'Random Danish Player' tombola, but it would definitely be an incompetent look!

He's been told that SG will be named the fulltime manager tomorrow......
Surely we are coming to the point where bookies won't pay out anyway? Doesn't the betting end if the interim is in place past a certain point?
No. The betting ends when we have a new manager.
S.........G............
Simon Garner?
As long as it's someone who is SG I'll be ITK for a few months and can bask in the respect of my peers.
Steve Guppy

The first 25 games were like a field in bloom.
We are now in a Grace period.
Who would work name-wise for the final push? Something that in-Vokes success...
Graceland even.
So we have narrowed it down to Simon Garner, Steve Guppy, Steve Gerrard or Sam Grace.
