Not sure why you think there is some sort of cult that are obsessed with him. It’s very early days. And it’s not Bloomfield vs Rice. Or Wycombe vs Rice. A whole load of sensationalism.
Crikey Pete. “All I will say….,.” (sigh of relief!!) followed by one of the longest posts on the thread. Good job it made such sensible reading.
I’m one of the growing number on here, I think, who have decided that any chance of the new owners signing Aaron Morley disappeared when MB threw in the towel.
I did wonder if the handsome Dane, Magnus Westergaard, might take on that role but his own description of his style of play as a box to box midfielder suggested that he wouldn’t be sitting fairly deep and spraying beautifully weighted defence splitting passes to our attacking players on a regular basis. More likely he will join forces with attacking players rather more often than Morley tended to.
I talked on the Other Football thread earlier today about the ugly, scrappy highly physical encounter between Luton and Millwall which I was watching on TV and I made the point that, now that several clubs - eg Mansfield, Huddersfield and now Northampton - have decided that the best way to curb our prolific goal scoring is by adopting a highly physical (destructive even) approach we are likely to encounter that situation on a more regular basis for the rest of the season.
In the Championship, that is a much less common phenomenon, I think, as the majority of clubs favour a more sophisticated approach. I certainly hope so.
Your penultimate paragraph is oh so true.
Please stay away from Adams Park for the rest of the season!!🫢
I think we didn't win this match today as soon as the team was announced
I can guarantee Northampton saw that team and thought ... Great!!! A couple of the new boys should've been on the bench at least.. don't give me all this they're not match fit bollocks... they are professional athletes !! They would be ready. To start Hanlan who has a terrible scoring record over Kone is unbelievable. This probably won't go down well, but Brandon shouldn't even be in the squad, nevermind starting !
People saying this was ok as we need to keep people fresh for Tuesday... really ? If we are going to be promoted, winning away at Barnsley is not a given, but winning at home to Northampton should be !!
I love the thought of Sam as manager because he's one of us.. but, we need a new man in asap
I was going to say thankfully Barnsley on Tuesday is home, not away. But with our home v away huge difference in form, maybe we'd prefer it to be away!
Sam Grace does a great job in charge of the Development squad but he's out of his depth, why not have Jack Grimmer as interim manager like Ainsworth was as player manager until we can bring in a permanent manager.
today was a hard watch for reasons people have already said, though ironically I’d have taken 4 points from the last 2 games just not in the order they happened.
Pure guesswork, but I'd imagine that the downvotes are for the "'don't give me all this they're not match fit bollocks" bit. The data says we should only sign players who aren't fit, so that's what we've done.
agree with a lot of your posts but not sure what you’re basing that on? They’ve just got beat at home by Stevenage (and looking at the stats were completely outplayed) and lost to Bristol rovers last weekend - they’re in poor form
Matt did what he thinks best for him and got a job with Luton. And that’s ok
Matt is doing what he thinks is best for him and his job chances - that might include buying one of, some of, our players. And that’s ok. It’s part of the game.
This “Matt is a Judas now” bollocks is just as tiresome as “Dan rice fucked Matt over” because he (they, the leadership) want to run the club with a head coach model and not a “football club manager” model.
It’s harsh on Matt, yes. No one likes the ground moving under there feet and their job not being the one they thought they had, but If anyone was fucked over it was Scott Mitchell.
Edit: and the medical staff that left just before the first game.
We KNOW Matt got up at 4:30am everyday, missing his girls and driving too and from Ipswich every day. He’s told us this very much.
As someone that’s only commuted from Wycombe to Reading (when the A33 junction was being redone so it was a fuck of a journey), you really have a lot of thinking time and you really really really have to love every aspect of your job to do it
Every.

Day.
There’s only so much you are willing to sacrifice. Especially when a young family is involved.
The ground started moving under his feet and no doubt the doubts started creeping in and I 100% can see him thinking “this isn’t the job I thought it was anymore” and looking elsewhere.
Thats also not fucking him over. If he was Happy to move to the Head coach model the club have been hinting at since day one, he’d still be here.
I always assumed he must stay over in the week, but then they had a car share group too.
So maybe it was only midweek games he really stayed over for?
Either way that is a horrible early start and hell of a long trip, especially in a climate many of us are fortunate enough to work at home a lot of the time.
You're right though - he could have stayed under the circumstances presented, but impossible to know the full details of what those were etc.
But for anyone who has really been "f'cked" over at work, that usually doesn't end with you moving into to a job with far better terms .
The biggest concern for me is that we’ve gone from crisp confident passers to one of those teams that passes it around the back and then hoofs it to no one.
Confidence in that system seems to be waning as the weeks pass as we can’t cope with the press the opposition apply when we pass out wide or to the central outlet.
Without Morley and Kone we seem to lack the creativity to play that system.
Leahy and Hanlan just can’t do those roles anywhere near as effectively in it cascades through the rest of the team.
When starting Hanlan and Lubala, surely it'd make more sense to play them the other way round. Lubala is much better at holding it up and Hanlan way more of a threat out wide than he is in the middle.
Shame Udoh wasn't around as well, as again he'd probably be a better central option than Hanlan.

This !!! So obvious
Club Rice definitely wants dissent shut down. Why they’re so convinced he’s the messiah is beyond me. May well be, but not much evidence yet.

Yep, i'm not sure i've seen anyone really pro Rice.
The main arguments on here have been between those certain Bloomfield was pushed out and others not being as certain.
Lots of talk about "data" saying stuff must be right, but a lot of it very tongue in cheek.
I think we didn't win this match today as soon as the team was announced

Bloomfield could never defeat The Corporation
Need to see it back, but think we got away with one first half. I have no idea what their goal was disallowed for
Handball, but yeah, we were pretty lucky to get it given.
I'm not sure why we are all convinced that bloomfield was the messiah. He'd never managed a championship game in his life before last week.
It was 100% not a corner in the first place though. Swings and roundabouts.
Not the messiah, just the chap who got us to 2nd while being completely undermined for half a season.
But of course, history is already being re-written because
football fans are a bunch of disloyal ingratespeople have short memories.Sam Grace does a great job in charge of the Development squad but he's out of his depth, why not have Jack Grimmer as interim manager like Ainsworth was as player manager until we can bring in a permanent manager.
Typo, sorry ... sue me
People down voting this obviously don't want to be promoted this season ! Good night all
The narrative that everything is either black or white is even more so.
There are many shades of grey.
The same black or white thinking is why Twitter has become an absolute cesspool worthy of deletion. Let’s not let this place head the same way.
This is a tough place at the moment.

are you blooms in disguise ? he did fantastic for us but he decided to leave us and try raiding us for our best player...he is no saint

Yep, at the end of the day he's moved into a better job, much higher wages, much bigger job in a higher tier with a huge length contract.
And sadly for him, he’s taken over a club that are in freefall. Just hope he gets time even if they get relegated
We need to wait a few months to discover if the Luton fans will win the 'most fucked over' trophy.
I boil it down to this:
We KNOW Matt got up at 4:30am everyday, missing his girls and driving too and from Ipswich every day. He’s told us this very much.

Far too sensible... people won't like that

Shame Udoh wasn't around as well, as again he'd probably be a better central option than Hanlan.
That’s pretty much what the consensus has been saying since Hanlan emerged from his injury but the data doesn’t allow it apparently!
