I think one of the things that gets ignored is the fact that nearly every team visiting AP see us as a top tier team now and line up defensively and are more than happy to take a point off us. We have certainly found teams difficult to break down at home. Our away form is still very good as teams try and have a go at us on their own patch.
The Aaron Morley knack of releasing our midfield and front players with defence cutting passes has now gone but hopefully we can regain this balance with our new lads coming into the match day squad.
We are in an amazing place being three points ahead of Wrexham and all to play for. I am sure teams like Huddersfield and Wrexham for that matter, would prefer to have our league position.
Cambridge possibly hitting a bit of form with that win yesterday against an admittedly slightly faltering Mansfield, Crawley a borderline bogey club to us and Rovers perhaps demonstrating the effect of new manager bounce with a 3-1 win at home to Barnsley. Three tough games.
When joy turns suddenly to sadness, however relatively and (we hope) transiently, it isn’t a great idea to put on a CD with two successive tracks being These are/were The Days of our Lives and Who Wants to live Forever! ! 🙄
Never mind, We will Rock You and We are the Champions will be on shortly.
Yes,it was a game we should have won. That’s not a new a Phenomenon.
Yea, the performance should have been “better”(whatever better means). That’s not a new phenomenon. Northampton have the right to fight for a point, or all three.
I think a number of people have come to the realisation that they should have had in May/June and have been, until recent events, in denial and they are only now going through Anger off the back of one average result.
The next managerial appointment is going to be key though.
To elaborate on @glasshalffull's comment, only one of the top nine clubs in League one have won their last two games, Stockport. Of the other eight clubs, only three (Brum, WW, Orient) have picked up four points. It would appear that Wycombe are not the only club finding wins hard to get.
It's a huge concern, unbelievably rumours Morley apparently didn't meet the data threshold, so that makes a mockery of the recruitment model, if someone so key to the team doesn't meet the requirements you have to worry.
Bolton didn't want to sell, Bolton were asking too much and we found a more affordable equivalent elsewhere, Morley didn't want to make the move permanent... Just some possible explanations. But as we know, there was an attempt to extend the loan - so we clearly wanted him.
I think people could also do with learning what a data-led recruitment model actually entails. With all the facetious comments about spreadsheets and Championship Manager, it's clear plenty don't have a clue.
Talking about rumours, there seemed to be two schools of rumour on the Morley fee.
500k v £2.2m
Obviously the former would seem a given when we've supposedly spent way more on Westy, but if it's £2.2m, we've brought all the other signings in for around that.
This conversation about data is utterly boring because none of you are ‘in the know’ and so many of you are making comments as if you have perfect information. None of you do. I run a data analysis team. I love my job. I love interpreting and evaluating data. And I STILL find this conversation utterly unbearable. It’s a total waste of words. So many trying to be high and mighty when none of you are any more informed than each other. Myself included!
I don't think anyone is claiming to know Wycombe's exact approach - wouldn't be great if that was public knowledge... But I do understand the basic principles of how data is used in football. I've worked with it a fair amount. Not high and mighty, just informed.

The whole pitch looked very pockmarked.
Cambridge, Crawley and Rovers.

Not only that, but we're actually in a better position now than we were before this week's round of fixtures.
Not sure a few on here have what it takes for a race for promotion. Plenty of ups and downs still to come
I am pretty bemused by the reaction to yesterday.

A draw against a dogged struggling Kevin Nolan team that keeps us in second.
Given the reaction, I will be giving the gasroom a miss next time we lose.
But you would miss @trevor's pearls of wisdom!

I know. Or someone blaming Luke Leahy, Sam Grace playing his mates and Judas Bloomfield.
Don't forget Dan Rice picking the team. It's absolutely pathetic.
I wish both sides would accept Bloomfield/Rice is done now.
Absolutely. Time to move on.
MBrexit means MBrexit
Agreed, it is only dividing the support. My view is that I really can’t do anything about MB leaving our club but I can continue to support our club.

"data threshold"
Sorry, but that means nothing. There's far more to the process than that.
There could be all manner of reasons why we didn't sign Morley. And let's wait and see what Westergaard can do before getting too doom and gloom.
I believe the rumours that the asking price from Bolton being unrealistic are closer to the mark on Morley
Don't forget we had an approach to extend the loan rejected. We wanted him.
You're meant to be the insider, so what do you mean "rumours"?
Just hope the pressure isn't too high on him.
For the fee we've allegedly paid he needs to be a phenomenal player.
Intrigued to know the reasons why you wouldn't sign him and with the fees we are spending we could of got Morley.
Always rumours nothing more

Also, I never said I wouldn't sign him.

How high do you reckon the 2nd Kone bid got to?

To that end, this is a very good article for a general overview https://analyisport.com/insights/how-is-data-driven-scouting-and-recruitment-used-in-football
