Southampton is mainly a disaster for managers it seems...wasn't Potch the last one who stepped up rather than it being an underwhelming sacking after a couple of seasons?
It certainly didn't feel great at the time, but maybe we'd not be in such a good position this many years on? Southend fans would have an opinion on how things can change!
It'll be real fun watching what Ainsworth does there. Blackman, short term loan seems absolutely zero risk.
Will be intrigued who is next, we all think McCarthy of course.

@our_frank Think that sounds right. Think you can also add Sergio to that list.

Though Nick Freeman has only played one 90 this season, the move to Stevenage has still been good for him in getting many more minutes.
In 7 years at Wycombe he played 9018 minutes.
In 1 1/2 years at Stevenage he has played 3995 minutes.
In other words, in around 21% of the time he was at Wycombe, he has played 44% of the minutes that he played for us.
Is he injured, or just not in favour this season?
He came on as a sub on Saturday, so I assume just out of favour overall (unless he recently came back).
Missed this one from a few weeks ago, not sure if it’s been posted.

Jordon Ibe has left Hayes & Yeading (clubs decision?? Says mutual agreement) after just 10 games.
Alex Samuel picked up a serious thigh injury and is expected to be out for around three months. A shame, as he could have been Shrewsbury bound.
Another one to add to the list of 'one of the good guys' from that era.

Jason Banton finds out he's been released via a tweet.
Since he left us he's played for 21 clubs!
Now THAT is a journeyman
First ex-Wycombe in at Shrewsbury, Blackman in goal.
Putting the old band back together.
Get Stewart out of his non league nightmare, McCarthy right back, Wheeler etc
I'm having Spurs away flashbacks
Refreshingly honest interview with Ainsworth.
Boss Gareth Ainsworth said: "Jamal Blackman has come in as my first signing on a short-term contract.
"We have conceded way too many goals under me so far.
"But that is not an indictment on any keeper, that's just 'Can we strengthen?' There are all sorts of reasons why we have conceded.
"Jamal will strengthen us. I like carrying three keepers anyway.
"And he'll start today. He's a huge talent who has been at some big clubs.
"He's lost his way a little bit. I know we are going to have to be patient with him, but I can get him back to his best - without a shadow of a doubt.
"He is imposing when he is in that goal and hopefully, today, that is what he will be to the Wigan players."
"I'm not saying the keepers aren't good enough, but we're getting a better one in"
Odds on him dropping a clanger on his debut? I was never overly convinced by him, and not just because of the Tottenham gaffe.
I thought he was a colossus, that Tottenham game aside.
Arguable which was the biggest "Just kick it out" moment in our league history between that one and the Bloomfield Southend final.
One was the best thing to happen to us, the other not so much!
We weren’t quite ready for L1 when we lost that final in my opinion. All about opinions of course.
I agree with your opinion on Blackman though. The incident at Exeter has set him back but pleased he’s back, albeit on a short-term deal.

Made some howlers and some wonder saves, very inconsistent. I'm with you on this @flymofrank though people seemed to have a rose tinted view.
I'm not condoning dropping clangers btw, before I get the RSPCA on my back.
Is there a yoofdem meaning of clanger I'm not familiar with?
I found out yesterday that some Scottish people use the word "clapped" for stroking - as in an animal.
I did wonder what my colleague was doing to a dog when saying she clapped it.
ps Shrewsbury 1-0 down already.
Lol that's not the slang meaning of 'clapped' I know. I thought 'dropping a clanger' was a fairly common term for a goalkeeper making a howler.
That's the only meaning of clanger (bar those 1970 tv characters). I thought from the RSPC comment it meant something else?
Clapped for your "Ed Matthews" generation of course being a different kettle of cheese entirely
Who tf is Ed Matthews?
And yeah, the RSPCA joke was a reference to dropping mice. Great thread derailment, this.
Gape starts for Eastleigh, who are 1-0 up at home to Maidenhead.
Influencer the yoof seem to love. Clapped and Washed are his favourite words.
Bryn Morris scores 2 in 4 minutes for Newport, against Franchise.
